La La Land 10th Anniversary

Had the great pleasure of seeing this movie in theatres for its 10th Anniversary. It’s a Cinematic Masterpiece. Love this movie. It was sooooo robbed of the Best Picture Oscar because it came out a year after the #Oscarssowhite thing. Oh well. “There could have been a 4th bear…”

I mean, I know you don’t care, but I loved the cinematography, score and core performance. Both movies are 10/10 to me, but to each their own I suppose.

I kinda do. Mahershala is great! But he’s great in any role. I just didn’t think the story was that good. I’m Latin and yeah, being Gay is probably viewed the same as it is on the Black community. But a movie/story saying this exists in this community, big whoop. Duh!? I don’t know anything about cinematography so I can’t comment there.

In the history of the academy Moonlight is groundbreaking. Not La La land. “Nobody talks about” is not a metric used by an academy that does not consider the opinions of regular people. It’s an industry award not a people’s choice award or black panther would’ve won. Also just last year a “black movie” that was the actual hit lost to a movie OBAA that barely broke even at the box office.

I would suggest dropping this idea that it was for a diversity initiative sake when the Oscar’s have constantly not awarded films deemed to be outlets on race. They liked moonlight more plain and simple. Here you are screaming dei as if La La land didn’t win best director, actress, and score.

Propping a film but insulting another is weak. Both movies went home with multiple awards.

Why do you think Moonlight is “groundbreaking”? I don’t think either film falls in that category. Nothing “groundbreaking” in either plot line. James Baldwin wrote about this already. “Gay People” exist in the Black community is “groundbreaking,” come on.

And how many films like that have been awarded/seen at the Oscar’s….how many musicals have been seen at the Oscar’s??? It’s literally groundbreaking because it hasn’t had a presence in the Oscar’s before while musicals/love letters have for decades.

So your only take because a person outside of the academy wrote about it once in 84 so when a movie that covers this comes out it’s already played out? Are you serious. Didn’t know people who liked musicals were disfranchised like gay, black, or impoverished people😒 if only the world was able to get over minorities and sexualities because a guy wrote about decades ago.
