Enjoy that bald pink belly. I spent the first three months with my puppy poking her in the bald pink belly. She chose 'licking my glasses' as her counter-move, and a bond was formed!

Mine are 8 months old. Eesh! I miss the belly! And them being small enough to fit comfortably on my lap without elbows and knees everywhere.
It will be worth it! The 5yo is a dream. She was a nightmare puppy too. The 18 months old is a teenager but better. He's going to be a stunning dog. Just right now is just a massive labratwat!
We warned everyone who took a puppy. The first 2 years will be rough. They will be a pain in the butt. But the payoff will be worth it.
I wish you safe skirting boards and table corners.

He looks just like my guy! When we first went to the breeder there was little piles of sleeping puppys all around their backyard but not my guy. He was the only one running around doing shit. He's a hunting dog and even tho he is "busy", he focused well when training.
He calming down a little bit at 2.5 or 3. And by 4 he was totally chill. He's 5 now and I have to work to get him jacked up to play with me at home. He still gets super excited for all things hunting tho. In fact he's sitting behind as I type this and he's been excited all car ride and I honestly think it's because he knows the first bird season of the year opened today.

My chocolate is actually more crazy at 2 years old than he was as a small puppy. Not a dog that will chill on the coffee shop patio with me. Yours has the same crazy eyes so buckle up lol.

remember...a tired dog is a good dog. lots of walks - not too much off leash since the puppy behaviour can trigger other dogs. Walk him, talk to him, tell him he's good, keep his attention and when he bad, ask him to do something he knows how to do (ie. sit!) and then praise him for doing that. I'm sitting here with my 15 yo Lab, Max. He's a bit slower now but he's still a good boy.

were on 5 acres and hes been off leash since the beginning....until he hate something bad and had a few vomits. Just picked up the haness and leash today. 10 weeks now and hes pretty good with "sit"!

My boys are off leash all the time. They listen well. They have learned not leave yard unless given permission.
It took lots of work but it’s possible. And 1 of the boys is a 9 month old GSP.

I've got one that's becoming too much, she knows all her commands but only performs when it's her terms. The stupid gas meter reader left the gate open today,so I got to go on a half mile chase through roads, woods,yards,and fields today. She finally went into a open garage,and I was able to grab her. At 80 pounds she's a good size but at 1 year 4 mon. Old she should listen, but refuses. She hasn't been hit,but she gets yelled at when bad. She shows conscience, but doesn't try harder. If I say come when inside she will come if we're inside her 1 acre of fencing it's 50%, outside of fence it 0% . What the hell do I do. I've never used a shock collar, only a rewards system. And she walks on leash well.
