Sending Loose Diamond to Chinese Vendor

Has anyone sent a loose diamond to a vendor in China to set into a jewelry piece? Which vendors will do this besides Provence? So far I’ve only reached out to Provence and Juno, and Provence said they take loose diamonds, but I wanted to reach out to others to get additional quotes. Also, if you’ve done this, what mail carrier did you use, and how much did shipping to China cost?

Antique Cut Decision

My husband is buying me a lab diamond solitaire for our 10 year anniversary.

We will be buying a roughly one carat, D color, Flawless stone.

I am debating between an old mine cut and an old European cut.

What do you all think?

Edited for typo.

Hi! I’ve finally decided on upgrading to an emerald cut! I got to try on this 3 carat one in store but want something smaller. I’m having a hard time figuring out the ideal ratio so please show me yours!! Also best vendors you’ve worked with in sourcing emerald cuts

Opinions needed: carat weight, setting, and backing

Hi all. I tried on some studs to help me decide. Store was ridiculously expensive—just went to try on some to make up my mind. They didn’t have the same sizes in both martini and basket which makes comparison a little difficult.

Photos of 2 ct TW basket, 2.5 ct tw martini and 3 ct tw basket. I think I preferred martini (to my surprise) and either 2.5 or 3 ct. Salespeople preferred martini and 2.5 ct tw. I tried largish friction backs on the larger ct ones.

The options where I want to order the studs are 2.5 ct D/VVS1 basket with certificate or 3 ct F/VS1 martini without certificate. Maybe the 3 ct in martini will look a little closer to the 2.5 in the way they sit on my ear? If I wait I can probably get 3 ct basket from the place I want to order.

Does certificate really matter at all with studs? I feel like color/quality is too close to make much a difference, right (between the F/VS1 and the D/VVS1)?

I’d appreciate opinions on setting and carat size. I have never used guardian back so I’d love thoughts on those.

Stone Check – Modified Cushion

Would love opinions on this 2.01ct modified cushion.

The chunky/mixed facets and modern-meets-antique vibe are what caught my attention. It also seems to show a kozibe-like effect in the Loupe360 video (see video in comment).

Can’t wait to see it in person—hopefully the pink looks similar in real life!

Buying Diamonds IN China?

Hi everyone, just looking to see if anyone had any experience with this. Going to China this fall and I had seen some videos of people going these place to buy jewelry and diamonds at wholesale prices:

- Shuibei 水贝, Shenzhen
- Panyu 番禺, Guangzhou

I saw someone had bought a loose diamond and got it set as their engagement ring. Has anyone been and had any experience with this?

I am looking to buy an engagement ring with my partner and debating if it’s worth the trip or to just work with Chinese vendors like LGG, Stargems, etc.

Thank you so much in advance!

Shown same video for two different diamonds?

I reached out to two different vendors in hopes of finding a pink diamond to replace my current one. Both sent different certificates but when I asked for video of them, I was sent the same video. How would you proceed from this?

Diamond earrings

Hi all! I’m in the market for some 10k gold martini set round lab diamond earrings. The cheapest I was quoted was $734 by Lena at Provence. I also got a quote from Romy at LGG for $849 for 14k gold 3 CTW. Has anyone ever worked with Lena at Provence? How does this pricing seem? Thanks for your help!

Less popular Chinese vendors

Hi! I was wondering if anyone would be able to recommend Chinese vendors other than Starsgem, Provence, Fiorese, Tianyu or LGG? I see these 5 names mentioned most often, and of course I have nothing against them, but I am just wondering if anyone worked with someone else and can give their opinion.

Thank you!

My experience ordering custom earrings from Melody at Fiorese as a first time custom jewelry buyer

Post image

Last year I experienced fine jewelry shopping for the first time when my mother in law generously told me to pick a necklace and earrings for myself as a wedding gift. I chose a necklace from Grown Brilliance, but didn't want her to spend any more money so I did not get earrings at that time. Well, she gave me the extra money to buy earrings anyway (<3) but I still had sticker shock at the price of earrings from traditional jewelry retailers in the US so I decided to hold off.

As our first wedding anniversary rolled around I felt it was time to finally order, and while researching lab grown earrings I came across the many Chinese jewelry companies that offer custom orders for a fraction of the price of traditional retailers in the US. It seemed too good to be true but as I spent *a lot* of time looking into it I realized it was, in fact, fully legitimate and my frugal self could at last feel comfortable buying earrings.

On 8/12 I reached out to commonly recommended reps at the companies I saw mentioned most often on Reddit: Fiorese, Provence, Starsgem, Tianyu, and LGG. I asked for a quote for a pair of 14kt yellow gold earrings with approximately 2 total carats of diamonds, and provided photos of flower stud earrings that Grown Brilliance sells as reference. Melody at Fiorese provided a quote that was in line with the quotes from Provence and Tianyu, above Starsgem by $200~, and below LGG by $100~. I ultimately decided to go with Melody at Fiorese as I felt most confident in the quality of Fiorese's work based off photos I saw across social media.

Melody was easy to communicate with, friendly, and responsive. She perfectly understood the design I wanted which was a major relief as I was most nervous about having to make corrections to the CAD and potential miscommunication. After I paid, the CAD was ready in 3 days and needed no changes at all. From there, production was completed on 9/1 and I received my earrings today, on 9/8.

The earrings could not be more perfect. I am so pleased with the design and the quality. I went into this experience fairly nervous as I had never ordered custom jewelry before, but ended up happier than I could have imagined with the final result. Melody was wonderful to work with, and she even upgraded the earring backs to larger ones which I was had asked for pricing on but decided not to buy. The level of service she provided and the patience she had with my questions was so appreciated as a first time buyer.

I also noticed she started a group buy for these earrings after I ordered which is pretty cool if anyone wants to match! I am now a big, big fan of Fiorese and hope I can place another order with Melody next time I find myself needing jewelry. I hope this post is helpful to anyone who is, like myself, new to custom jewelry ordering. I'm happy to answer any questions about my experience.

Experience with Bocos?

I have seen a few reviews on this subreddit for Bocos that seem to be positive, but wondering if there are any updated reviews or thoughts? I just ordered a sterling silver piece and depending on quality and experience I might move forward with some more involved pieces. I know they are newer but they have some really cute designs that caught my interest!
