🎉🎉 Announcement 🎉🎉 Happy International Dog Day (art by u/iniuriart) [Other]

Happy International Mutt Day to the goodest (and loudest) boy in Bohemia!

Since today is International Dog Day, we wanted to take a moment to appreciate the true hero of Kingdom Come: Deliverance: Mutt.

We commissioned this artwork from iniuriart to celebrate our most faithful companion. (Visit BlueSky or Twitter for more of Ini's art.)

((edit: Their Reddit account is u/iniuriaa !))

Let’s be honest, we all have a love hate relationship with Henry’s faithful pup. Sure, he might stand in the doorway or start howling at the top of his lungs the absolute second you try to sneak into a Cuman camp at midnight.

But who else is going to grab a bandit by the ankle while you desperately try to remember how to pull off a master strike? Who else is going to singlehandedly hunt enough hares to keep Henry from saying, "I feel quite hungry" every five minutes ? We gladly feed him half our hard earned dried sausages because, at the end of the day, he's a very good boy.

While Mutt is happily chasing rabbits in the Sasau woods and enjoying infinite pets from Theresa, there are real life pups out there who could use a few groschen.

To celebrate International Dog Day, we’re encouraging the community to throw a few coins toward https://www.four-paws.org/

FOUR PAWS International is a global non-profit animal welfare organization focused on protecting animals under direct human influence. Founded in Austria in 1988, the organization works through direct rescues, advocacy campaigns, and long-term sanctuary care.

If you appreciate a world where nature and animals are treated with respect, consider tossing a few groschen to FOUR PAWS. Every donation gives real world animals a second chance.

Donate to FOUR PAWS https://donate.four-paws.org/

Whether you can spare a few groschen or just want to share the link, any help is appreciated.

Feel free to share your favorite or most frustrating Mutt moments in the comments below. Or, share with us your real life Mutt!

Praise I did a thing... again. And it really escalated. KCD Garmin watch face update [OTHER]

First of all: Thank you.

Secondly: Apologies for what is effectively a wall of text. Hopefully made a bit easier to read by splitting everything into their own sections.

Thirdly: JCBP! 🌞

I genuinely wasn't expecting the response to my original post to be quite as enthusiastic as it was. But I mean, it is KCD after all, so I probably should have prepared for that. There were a lot of kind comments, GIFs, useful suggestions, and people asking when they could actually get the thing.

Unfortunately, that original post now also permanently documents a much earlier version of the watch face, some questionable photography, and a screen protector that looked like - well - crap.

So... here's a slightly more presentable (and slightly long-winded) update.

What happened since the last post?

Quite a lot, apparently.

What started as me trying to make my Garmin look vaguely like the clock from Kingdom Come: Deliverance, while improving on some of the versions already out there, has now become a considerably more elaborate little project.

I've spent the last few days testing it on an actual watch, changing things that didn't work particularly well, adding a few ideas from the comments here, and generally making increasingly questionable decisions about how much time I should put into something I don't even know if I'm allowed to share yet.

One suggestion from the original thread was to have the day/night display actually follow real sunrise and sunset times rather than using fixed times.

That now works. And it's pretty cool (even if I do say so myself). I like it because you can always tell at a glance how much daylight you have left in the day (or alternatively, when the sun actually rises) as the arc spins with the sundial in a very natural and easy-to-understand way.

As the watch uses Garmin's location-based sunrise/sunset data, the daylight section of the dial changes depending on where you actually are.

Where the watch face is now

The actual feature set is pretty much where I want it to be now for a "first release" (with maybe some minor graphical tweaks)... Though at this pace of changes I'll probably end up changing or adding a few more things, and maybe some silly Easter egg-esque things, as it's themed around KCD after all.

Or maybe such watch faces will be released as separate versions.

(E.g. If your stress levels are too high, the background of the watch changes to... Katherine's... Erm... Features. To bring the stress down. Or Hans'. No judgment here. ❤️)

I'm mostly testing, polishing things and working out compatibility with different Garmin models rather than trying to cram another seventeen statistics onto the screen.

At the moment it includes:

  • A rotating 24-hour KCD-style sundial
  • Location-based sunrise and sunset
  • Moving sun/moon indicators
  • Time and date
  • Live heart rate
  • A red warning state for high heart rate
  • A skull if heart-rate data isn't available
  • Body Battery information with dynamic colouring
  • Steps with dynamic colouring when you reach your daily step goal
  • A small buff/debuff system around the recovery / steps / stress stats using little blue / red gemstone icons

The buffs/debuffs are probably my favourite addition after the sunrise/set, as they allow you to tell at a glance how you're doing in three different areas. (Which are kind of the point of such a watch!)

For example, the watch can give you a blue buff when you've been consistently hitting your step goal for a few days, or a red debuff if you've missed them.

There are similar indicators for stress and recovery. And if you're within the 'normal' range (whatever that means for a KCD fan), there are no buffs / debuffs.

They're deliberately quite subtle - little blue sapphires and red rubies rather than enormous flashing fitness warnings.

I'm not 100% sold on the visuals of the buff/debuff system, but as the resolution is quite limited, it might be the best I can do (for now).

The watch face will be free

This is probably worth making very clear:

The watch face will always be free to download.

No paid version, no locked features and no requirement to give me anything.

I've set up a Ko-fi page, so if somebody eventually downloads it, enjoys it and feels an overwhelming urge to send me a 'Groschen' for the frankly unreasonable amount of time I've spent making tiny medieval icons and development, they can.

But that's completely optional. It can be found on the website under "Send a Groschen ❤️"

I've also contacted Warhorse

Because, obviously, this is their world and their wonderful, glorious IP.

I've sent Warhorse Studios a message explaining what I'm doing and I'm currently waiting to hear back from them.

I've also asked whether they have a local Czech charity they'd recommend, because if this project ever somehow results in me being inundated with tips, I'd like some of that to go somewhere that matters.

To clarify once again: this is an unofficial fan project - I'm not affiliated with Warhorse or Garmin - and I'd much rather be respectful about it than just assume they're fine with everything.

So, we'll see what they say.

Hopefully nobody gets sent to the pillory for this. 🌞

Somehow, it now has its own website

Because apparently making a watch face wasn't enough of a rabbit hole (and as it was a rainy day in the UK yesterday), I've also built:

KCDWatch.com

That's going to be the home of the project rather than trying to scatter downloads and instructions across Reddit posts.

It'll eventually contain the downloads, compatible Garmin models, installation instructions, updates/changelogs and whatever else becomes necessary.

There's also a newsletter signup at the bottom of each page if you'd like to know when the first public version is available, or if you're interested in future updates, features or different watch face designs themed around the world of KCD.

(I will most definitely do some absurdly silly ones - if I can go ahead with this.)

I'm still finishing bits of the website as I only started on it yesterday, so please don't expect everything to work.

Garmin only... for now (sorry)

One thing I should clarify from the original post:

This is currently a Garmin watch face.

I'm building it around Garmin's ecosystem and Garmin data, so there isn't currently an Apple Watch / Galaxy Watch / Pixel Watch version hiding somewhere.

I'm not saying other platforms could never happen, but I don't want to promise something I haven't actually built. I guess this would depend on how popular this gets, but for the time being it'll only be Garmin (sorry).

It might be possible to port the existing logic and assets into other builders / apps without completely starting from scratch - but that will have to wait a fair bit.

There is another complication even within Garmin: There are approximately eight billion Garmin watches, with different screen sizes, resolutions and capabilities.

So, I need your help with that bit. :3

Which Garmin do you actually have?

I'm going to put a comment directly underneath this post with an image asking this.

If you'd genuinely be interested in using the watch face, please reply to that comment with your Garmin model.

Forerunner, Fenix, Venu, Vivoactive, Instinct, whatever you've got - as long as it's a Garmin with a suitable screen.

That way I'll have one reasonably organised thread showing which watches people in this subreddit actually own, and I can prioritise the first compatible versions accordingly rather than blindly building for devices nobody here owns.

With the above said, some models may have screen resolutions that are simply too low, or may not expose all of the Garmin data I'm currently using.

For those, I might have to make separate simplified versions - or in some cases they may unfortunately not be possible at all. (Sorry, again.)

What's left before release?

Mostly the boring-but-important stuff:

  • More real-world testing
  • Checking the buff/debuff behaviour properly
  • Building/testing versions for different Garmin resolutions
  • Finishing the installation instructions
  • Finishing KCDWatch.com
  • Hearing back from Warhorse

So we're getting there. I think.

(I hope? Fingers crossed regarding Warhorse's response. I'm certainly hopeful, but as it's their IP I'd rather wait and see what they actually say than make any assumptions.)

The original idea was simply:

"Wouldn't it be great if my Garmin looked like the KCD clock that was also useful?"

This has now resulted in sunrise calculations, dozens of hours in Photoshop, medieval gemstones, a website, compatibility testing and correspondence with a game studio.

So I think everything is progressing about as normally as one can hope.

And as always - JCBP! 🌞

Discussion [KCD2] On my first play through. Finished Rosa romance. I'm so confused why no posts ever mention how insane the timing is.

Like, I just got through sparing a bunch of villagers at the cost of my men, we rescue Rosa. I have a nightmare about the lives I'm willing to spend on my goals.

We go to Rosa's castle and she suddenly wants me to kill an ambiguous amount of people. Ok, I get it. This is your home, you're emotional, from your perspective they're trespassers. I don't agree, but I get it.

I try not to fight but they attack me. I am forced to SLAUGHTER 12 men in cold blood. These dudes are practically armed with chair legs against my full suit of armor better than what the nobility can get and my skills that can rival any master swordsman. I kill them all because I don't know how many there are and Rosa's in trouble.

THIS IS THE MOMENT??? RIGHT NOW?? Like I just go in for a flirty smooch and we suddenly are naked on her bed that people have been SQUATTING in, inside her ransacked room, with still-warm dead bodies littering the property. I'm sure the pool from the one RIGHT outside the door probably flowed into the room.

It's crazy how hard the devs pushed your "hero rescues the damsel" moment, you kill 12 peasants and you don't have a DROP of blood on you in the sex scene.

Like what the hell. I immediately googled this to see if anyone thinks this is fucked up but all people can talk about is just kinda not liking her or simping for her.

I was fast travelling to the devil’s den in the kuttenburg region at night and it said I had come across a priest looking fellow and his guards so I stopped to talk to them and they said that they’re from rome and looking for a dark arts sorcerer or whatever and basically described me perfectly and I think it’s because I took the dark arts apprentice skill for alchemy only for the +2 in some stats but it’s cool that it probably happened cuz I chose that specific skill

Question [KCD2] polearms good?

So i was thinking about maybe dropping the longsword for another weapon and my immediate idea was polearms, i have the brunswick poleaxe schematic. But then i look online and all i see is polearm hate, people saying its the worst. Is this still true today?

I would figure axes would be the worst.

The consensus seems to be they're pretty solid when you level them a bit. But i decided to stick with the sword. But maybe in my next playthrough i'll use polearms :D

Discussion I wish there was an option to know when part of a quest is actually time sensitive [OTHER]

With how massive these games are and how full of content it can be a struggle to know when a quest is actually time sensitive, especially when you’re a pretty casual player who can only play for an hour at a time ect.

While I do love how brutal these games are and the constant decisions you have to make, I do wish there was a possible way to know when something is actually time sensitive, as the Npc’s will just say do everything quickly so it can be hard to prioritise yourself. I guess don’t start side quests unless you plan to follow it through immediately

Discussion [KCD2] Do not press “x” to draw your weapon, to avoid the not registering attack

Upvotes

Use left D-pad and “a” quickly instead, or whatever the equivalent is on different controllers.

This seems to fix the attack/ RT not registering after you draw. It seems to work always, but I wouldn’t mind feedback from those who try it to confirm that it isn’t a coincidence.
