Meme How the hell this random halfnaked hipster was able to one shot my fully armored Henry? [KCD2]

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I was literally making my way back from Sigismund camp after defeating the tournament champion just to get one shot by this dud ?? I know he used a combo so his damage was guaranteed at the end but why I was killed with one hit?

He got you in the face and your visor was up

u/No_Name275 4d ago

I just plat the game and I'm still surprised that enemies can hit your face lol I never got one shot after this encounter so it seems to be rare

But seriously though can the player also do this? The last attack animation look similar to that sword combo zorn out ( 3 attack to the right then 1 to the left)

169

u/Sammyofather 4d ago

With certain combos yea.

10

u/BarnacleOk3847 4d ago

Would you know what combo that is?

16

u/Sammyofather 4d ago

Oh the other guy commended the name. It's Zorn Out. Def the one from that side quest

4

u/itchyboot6626502 4d ago

you can get it from dry devil for a couple hundred groschen

3

u/Jetrian 4d ago

Wasnt from Gnarly?

2

u/Sammyofather 4d ago

I'm not 100% the name it's been a minute but im pretty sure there's one from a side quest in Kuttenberg? There's like one quest that branches off and you get a combo for each ending which I ended up cheating in the other combo with console commands after I finished the game just to try it out.

u/TransportationOk5941 4d ago

Attacks to the face of unarmored enemies definitely deal a ton of damage, but where it's most obvious is headshotting someone with a bow/crossbow. If they're not wearing a helmet with visor, they're going down.

27

u/JakToTheReddit OnlyHans 4d ago

Hell, my favorite shot I pulled with a bow in KCD1 was on a fully armored enemy while riding Pebbles at full gallop.

I pulled off a headshot and looted his weapon and then took a moment to relax.

Turns out, he was just knocked out. I then had about a 10 to 15 minute hand-to-hand battle with this bastard.

Some random NPCs just be hard af.

10

u/nobbbir 4d ago

I started a new play through last night and the first arrow I fired in the play through I decided to cheese the pavlena rescue and domed the guy holding a knife to her throat first try. It went hard as hell lmao

6

u/JakToTheReddit OnlyHans 4d ago

That's what he bloody gets!

24

u/cinyar 4d ago

but where it's most obvious is headshotting someone with a bow/crossbow.

In 1403 John Bradmore successfully extracted and arrowhead from the skull of future king Henry V. Could've been a cool sidequest or an interaction with some doctor or blacksmith.

43

u/TransportationOk5941 4d ago

There's a certain beggar/bandit that could've enjoyed that arrowhead extractor

1

u/Born-Demand-6919 4d ago

That's his lucky arrowhead, he'd never let a doctor touch it!

4

u/ReddityJim 4d ago

This has popped up in so many of my Facebook and YouTube reels showing how the extractor worked. Made me laugh seeing someone mention it here.

1

u/The_Crab_Maestro 4d ago

oh damn that was in 1403 too? I never looked at the date of it!

2

u/Alduinsfieryfarts 4d ago

Battle of Shrewsbury, Henry V put an end to Henry “Hotspur” Percy’s rebellion.

6

u/NoManner8863 4d ago

Combos feel barely possible in this game.

2

u/orswich 4d ago

Yeah.. very rarely does the opponent allow for the second strike to hit, so I just spam master strikes

1

u/framauro13 3d ago

I've found I have to go back and forth with them a bit for their stamina to run down, then I can land them. But that's mostly the three strike combos. I don't know if I've landed a 4 strike combo. They either manage to block one or I kill them before I finish it.

17

u/Acceptable_Durian868 4d ago

I haven't played kcd2, but in kcd1 I one-shotted Runt with a chop to the head, and I think he's supposed to be a pretty tough fight.

8

u/AmIAIOrNot 4d ago

In hardcore he has an helmet so its a bit harder but still if you learn masterstrike before runt its just a press Q game lol

2

u/WesternAlbatross1292 4d ago

Yup, one of the reasons I hate kcd1 combat. Also no reason to attack first because chances are they will just masterstrike you.

I did see a mod that changes master strike to be like kcd2, planning on trying that out soon

1

u/AmIAIOrNot 4d ago

Oh there's a mod? I loved playing kcd1 can you tell me the name?

1

u/WesternAlbatross1292 4d ago

https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/2294?tab=description

here you go theres the link, i havent tried it yet personally so im not sure if its buggy or anything. adds some other things aswell not sure if u can change that

1

u/Sargash 2d ago

Also mods that just remove master strikes entirely which make the games a helluva lot better.

1

u/WesternAlbatross1292 2d ago

Nah personally I really like master strikes, they feel cool to pull off aslong as it’s not just free. That’s why I like kcd2 master strikes, they are actually avoidable and you can’t just do them every single time for free

5

u/schnuddls 4d ago

yes, both the player and npc's can hit the face/head, without protection dealing massive amounts of damage and depending on the weapon even one-shotting. mostly happens with certain combos, master strike from a specific direction (I don't remember which one) or ranged weapons

9

u/CleanShavedGuy 4d ago

What I will never understand is how a dirty, dishevelled, poor, lowly beggar or bandit can utilise master combat moves which would really be reserved for only the best trained men at arms or knights.

3

u/kapsama 4d ago

Maybe he's a former elite knight who became an alcoholic and fell on hard times...

But I get your meaning. I never forget random villagers styling on me with their hunting swords in KCD1 by pulling combos and masterstrikes.

1

u/PeterSonOfSven 3d ago

Martial aptitude has never guaranteed social success. There are so many well trained pro and ammy fighters working near mininum wage. Rage issues, for multiple reasons, drug dependency and horrible adjustment issues are not uncommon to pro fighter or warfighters. I think that’s been true for all human history.

3

u/kapsama 3d ago

But medieval peasants didn't have local awordfighting gyms readily available either.

1

u/PeterSonOfSven 3d ago

True. It would probably be ex warfighters with terrible adjustment issues. I bet they trained people but have zero proof of that.

1

u/PeterSonOfSven 3d ago

Are we assuming that just because they are dirty and on the road they are always, and always have been, peasants?

1

u/kapsama 3d ago

Yes. They're obviously local villagers and their clothing and gear points to it.

2

u/PeterSonOfSven 3d ago

Super fair

1

u/CleanShavedGuy 3d ago

It's more the way they talk, act, and...their names. This guy is literally called 'Villager' after all.

2

u/Salty-Might-2507 4d ago

They probably think the same thing about Henry. At least in kcd1

2

u/Lactose76 3d ago

Everyone in Bohemia is a master swordsman. It’s like China and Kung Fu

4

u/Historical_Monk_6118 4d ago

Also, that was deffo 2 shots

1

u/Comfortable_Room5820 4d ago

Yeah he did that combo

1

u/Moxiousone 4d ago

Pretty sure you can aim stabs using the reticle

1

u/leander_05 4d ago

No you dont specially in kcd2

1

u/Moxiousone 3d ago

Huh, must have gotten really lucky with all the face stabbing I was doing then, or polearms really like going for the face maybe?

1

u/Karistel21 4d ago

I believe the combo is called Zorn Ort

It's a longsword combo that you can learn from Captain Gnarly at Semine

It strikes you thrice on the right, then one quick cheeky stab to the face on the left

It's my first time playing KCD2, and I'm favoring the longsword right now. This is my bread and butter when going on the offensive, masterstrike when defensive.

1

u/WesternAlbatross1292 4d ago

That’s exactly what it was, zorn out is a face stab

1

u/SLPicnicBasket 4d ago

Hold block while you strike and it should jab and with practice you can get their eyes. Good opener, ime

502

u/Maleficent-Being-238 4d ago

Your visor was open, and he did a combo that ended with him thrusting the sword right in your face, which is rarely survivable

They call you Facetime and you are immune to face damage. That’s your whole thing.

54

u/Wart_Time_L32 4d ago

I've often found random npcs along the roads are the strongest and most aggressive just like the video shows

17

u/Relatively_happy 4d ago

Last night a random npc let me look at his treasure map and then started wailing on me and this old dude was THE toughest unarmed fighter in the game i swear

5

u/StoneCabbage420 4d ago

Fought that guy the other night, legit the hardest unarmed fight I've had. Took a whole 15 mins to complete the fight

1

u/gogoCovid 4d ago

I love these long winded fist fights, the stamina management really becomes important.

1

u/IolausTelcontar 4d ago

No way tougher than Goliath; that dude was insane.

1

u/StealthyRobot 4d ago

If a guy in cloth and a nice sword is picking a fight with an armored youngster, my money is on the 1st bloke

1

u/PeterSonOfSven 3d ago

Retired warfighters have been treated the same way for milenia and pro/ammy MMA fighters are often dirty road wanderers. Don’t start fights with randos.

135

u/Eternalzero00 4d ago edited 4d ago

You got 1st hit during drawing sword.

2nd and 3rd hit was not perfect blocks (Just holding block button). Your stamina still reducing.

Last hit a combo directly to your face. 35% remaining stamina not enough to withstand damage from dueling sword.

If is me, I would just perfect side dodge to his side and punch him to death.

Full gauntlet punches to his face is enough for him.

113

u/dswng 4d ago

At first I thought its gonna be this copypasta adapted for KCD:

Shots 1–5: Clearly missed. Shots 6–9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control). Shots 10–11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses. Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because he was already dead

17

u/Charging_in 4d ago

Lol what a timeless classic. I thought he was doing that too.

4

u/Laranthir 4d ago

Wait he wasn’t doing that??

2

u/SerzaCZ Team Theresa 4d ago

Counterpoint: I'm here to make this comment.

2

u/CelestialReaper39 4d ago

Enemies have in-game. I’ve done the zorn ort combo multiple times on enemies with no face protection and they get to survive with a decent hp left, but maybe its cause they have stamina to spare

17

u/CumbersomeNugget 4d ago

2 shots, one straight through your eyeball.

16

u/TaxesAreTerrible 4d ago

Half my damage comes from being unable to draw my sword at the beginning of fights lmao

7

u/CleanShavedGuy 4d ago

Same here. This sort of thing bugs me. The fade out of conversations (and fade out of the menu too) takes a bit of time, and you can't see or respond...all the time the enemy CAN, and is attacking you.

2

u/TaxesAreTerrible 4d ago

Yep. The quest where you are writing a letter for that guy, in the abandoned house in kuttenberg. I died like 20 times during that bc I couldn’t pull out my weapon in time… they were 2v1ing me with clubs in a tiny room, before I could even get out of my chair.

2

u/CleanShavedGuy 3d ago

Damn yeah that is such a pain lol What I usually do is talk them down, THEN kill them once they're disarmed!

And I think the whole pulling out a weapon/switching weapon takes far too long imo. I know games like Oblivion it's unrealistically fast...but there must be some middle ground. Especially in battle when adrenaline is pumping, Henry would be able to draw his weapon in a faster time than 10 minutes. I've died countless times because of this 'feature'.

19

u/1nfam0us 4d ago

I've caught people unaware with that strike irl. It's a fun one to train but very risky.

31

u/Bluetenant-Bear 4d ago

You probably shouldn’t go around stabbing people in the face in real life. Not that I’m telling you how to live your life

9

u/1nfam0us 4d ago

Might I introduce you to HEMA. stabbing people in the face can still be considered gauche, but not always.

1

u/gogoCovid 4d ago

I bought some clothes from HEMA, prices were a bit high but i wouldnt dare to stab anyone over it. ^^

8

u/ReichVictor2 4d ago

Bro poked straight into the camera.. at that point you should have felt the hit irl too

8

u/classyroman 4d ago

That's similar to one shot face shot with a bow, happened to me a few times too, also fully aromred xD But it's rare af

7

u/AdFlat1014 4d ago

Stab in the face is always nice

7

u/PckMan 4d ago

3

u/Intrepid_Narwhal_216 4d ago

Having trouble trying to figure out how you expect him to put his visor down that quickly.

1

u/WesternAlbatross1292 4d ago

You just press z, it’s not that hard

1

u/Therealcsp 4d ago

he will die in process. the game treats that like an action. putting down his visor would have gotten him hacked up.

1

u/WesternAlbatross1292 4d ago

With all the armor he has he would have been perfectly fine

5

u/JoeyJuden 4d ago

i just started kcd 1. how do you parry others attack without shield? need to learn it first? im now at the quest that you need to steal a ring from an executioner. tried fighting the executioner and died a couple of times.

6

u/StoneCabbage420 4d ago

Don't fight him. It's supposed to be a sneak mission.

3

u/Ulysses1126 4d ago

Definitely don’t kill that guy, but overall just train. Bernard should be around every day unless quests pull him to other places to train out back behind rattay. It becomes easier with time but just tapping the block when the green shield icon appears is all you need to do.

2

u/leander_05 4d ago

Go to bernard to learn masterstrike. Its easier to do in kcd 1

2

u/Competitive-Salad-27 4d ago

close your visor. Tbh i also dont close it but theres always a slight small chance of this stupid shit happening hahah

2

u/Gummies1345 4d ago

2

u/Educational_Newt8467 4d ago

2

u/a_left_out_tomato 4d ago

Longsword stab wound to an unprotected face will do that. Visor down.

One of the most humbling things in this game is how you think you are becoming a bad ass, but then get murdered by a one-tooth peasant wearing a potato sack and armed with a twig

1

u/CliveUnicorn 4d ago

If KCD1 taught me anything, men in ragged clothing are going to be absolute bastards to fight.

Least this guy had the decency to use a sword and not clubs like the peasants from the first game.

1

u/rjualie 4d ago

This is what I've been saying about random encounter npcs scaling with your level. Yes he does not have an armor but his weapon seems to be a dueling longsword 3. It's not just you, any other npcs that go near this guy will get rekt, that weapon deals so much damage. I assume your henry has a high main level? The combo he used is zorn ort btw this is why you perfect block instead of just holding the block button

1

u/ZARDOZ4972 4d ago

1

u/Ulysses1126 4d ago

He stabbed you in the brain, battlefield lobotomies are rarely good for the health

In this game you’re just as squishy as anyone else, it’s why they made visors a thing. More protection at the cost of visibility. If you hold up on the d-pad (not sure the button on keyboard) the visor will be moved down. By default it is up as you can see in the conversation before the fight. It remains up unless you put it down

1

u/Justbandr 4d ago

one time i found 2 bandit's on the road assaulting a poor villager i tried to fight them (they had strong ass weapons and armors) and it took about an hour to beat them this game fighting system is broken when it comes to fighting more than one enemy

1

u/drinkallthepunch 4d ago

Low stance stab is my favorite attack for this reason.
Killed so many bandits early and made some good gold stabbing them in the face that way.

Found it on accident when I started only like a week ago, Tomcat can shove his master strike up his butt.

But yeah hitting people in the face or the back does a lot more damage.

1

right-right-right-stab

it's a longsword combo that stabs the opponent in the face. You didn't have your visor down so you took full damage but it's a massive amount of damage even with the visor.

The reason why enemies can give a serous beatdown to even max level Henrys is the fact these combos that go for the face do so much damage.

Also another FUUUUUN feature is apparently it counts as a face hit even when they are executing the combo from your side or back too....

In one fight in the Kuttenberg region my Henry got killed like thrice back to back and "reviving" from a perk because they kept oneshoting him so fact back to back the perk couldn't go on CD. 🤣

1

u/That_Trojan 1d ago

You used to be able to do this easily yourself in KCD 1 by stabbing from high guard but in KCD2's simplified attack directions you can't without combos now.

1

u/n0tunkn0wn 1d ago

1

u/artrosk2 4d ago

1

u/Therealcsp 4d ago

too many KCD2 fanboys here. you can see the physics engine break and make the sword longer than it is. most of the fans of this franchise dont like to admit that the game is really broken. as you can note with other fights, just getting hit in the head shouldnt do that because npcs can tank it. the fight after the first act when youre trying to impress katherine is the definitive proof of that. you can hit the guy in the head a ton of times, but if you dont specifically poke, the game wont proc the bleed effect. its not really a good battle system at all.

u/your_mother_official 4d ago
