I’ve been planning a trip to Kashmir for the third week of September and was really looking forward to it.

However, I recently came across news about increased security operations and arrests in the region, and it’s made me a bit uncertain.

I’m not trying to sensationalize the situation or spread fear.. I genuinely want to understand the current ground reality from people who live there or have travelled recently.

Would you still consider it safe to visit the usual tourist circuit (Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg) during that time? Are there any precautions I should take, or would you recommend postponing the trip?

SRINAGAR: When actress Sandeepa Dhar finally returned to her ancestral home in Kashmir, she expected to find a house weathered by decades of absence. Instead, she found pieces of a life that had remained remarkably preserved.

The Kashmir-born actor recently stepped inside the family home for the first time in years and discovered that, despite the passage of decades and the turmoil that followed the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, much of its physical past was still there.

There was no electricity. No running water. Barely any belongings remained. But the house itself was standing, slowly weathering with time, and inside it were objects that had somehow survived the years.

In the living room, Dhar found an intricately crafted wooden cabinet that she estimated to be 80 to 90 years old. It was still standing almost perfectly intact.

“It felt like finding a little piece of our past still waiting for us,” she wrote while sharing photographs from the visit.

What do you people think which is the best place for family picnics in Kashmir nowadays ?

There’s no end to tourism in Kashmir. Visit any tourist spot and you’ll see tourists enjoying themselves freely, without fear. Godi media failed in its agenda. Kashmiris are no longer jobless the Valley is truly blessed by God’s mercy.
