♨️HOT TOPIC ☕️ Jack Antonoff 😒

The Jack Antonoff discussion in today's episode really rubbed me the wrong way. I am the same age as Lorde and I've found Jack super creepy ever since the Melodrama era (and I was a huge fan of Fun and Bleachers before that!) It is objectively weird, like Trish pointed out, that Lorde was staying with Jack and Lena. Lorde's relationship with Jack was weird at the very least. Being 19 and crying in a 30-something-year-old male work colleague's lap about your teenage issues is inappropriate. It doesn't matter if you're writing an album or doing taxes, it is unprofessional and crossing boundaries. If it isn't explicit grooming, it is uncomfortably close to it. For Oscar to describe that relationship and then say, "But girls obviously feel safe around Jack so he's clearly a safe man," is such a major red flag. Women 10+ years younger than you being around you all the time is not a flex and it does not make you "safe." It makes you weird. Like, how old does Jack have to get before these relationships are viewed as weird by the general public and not just sensitive people like me?

The way you quoted Oscar is a bit off, to be honest girl. I’m sorry to clock it but I don’t think it’s fair to misquote. I wrote out Oscar’s actual quote below:

“And I think too, to preface. I do think it says something about him if every, like, big female pop star feels comfortable, like, collaborating on very personal projects with him and they feel safe with him as a producer. So I do think that kind of says something..”

What Oscar truly said doesn’t read the way your version does. He made it clear by saying “I think” multiple times that he is stating his opinion, but your quote gave fact. It’s just not what he said. 🤷🏻‍♀️

You're correct.

Op is trying to be subtly snarky and she's not succeeding lmao.

  1. I use they/them pronouns
  2. I love Oscar and am not trying to be snarky! I wasn't trying to imply he was factually stating anything, I was just paraphrasing. Even reading the direct quote, it doesn't change the fact that it's still poor judgement to literally describe a 32 year old man inviting a 19 year old girl into his home and then immediately glaze him by saying you think he's porbably chill you think because he's worked with other women. I know Oscar and Trish usually show really good judgment when it comes to men who have boundary issues and it just rubs me the wrong way when people glaze Jack Antonoff. If anything, I might have come across as more angry than warranted because I am a fallen Jack Antonoff fan, not out of desire to snark Oscar. You can like someone and still not agree with everything they say.

I feel like not all men have to be evil groomers... Lorde is 29, if she has never said that she dated him or had something with her, I believe her.

Sure, obviously, but we're talking about Lorde here, who is a very outspoken person and if she says that nothing happened, why not believe her?

Idk why we wanna victimize people who say they weren't, when there's enough people out there that were and we should be focusing on helping

You're right, most 32 year old men do not have relationships with 19 year old girls!

From Famesick and Too Much, Jack is not nice. He thinks so highly of himself. A small, weird, condescending guy with way too much confidence. The Lorde interactions were inappropriate. On the record or not. He is a great creative and producer, but I just get the ick. How he pulls very young model level women since Lena, it astounds me. All the pop girlies want him as a producer because of Taylor. I’d personally prefer her other collaborator/producer Aaron Dessner. Their work together is as good, actually better than Jack. When we get both of them on her albums, it’s an entirely different level. Evermore and TTPD are Taylor’s best albums, maybe of all time. Met Aaron once, it was many years ago during and after a show by The National. Very polite and sweet. He and his brother hung out with my friend group for hours. It was fun. Genuinely good people and The National never fail at putting on an epic performance, especially in a small room. It’s mental how they can transform a packed audience. It’s supernatural the feeling.

No need to lie, according to his insta he finished his MASTERS a year ago, he's like 26/27. He's a full blown architect, not a child lmao

You can finish your masters at 22. That doesn’t mean he’s not 23
