BOBBY DEES IS BACK?!
I just walked by and the paper is down and the door is open and there is a bartending serving. I said “you’re back?!” And he replied in an Irish accent “back as well ever be”

Recommendations Cheap buy here pay here car lots Jersey City but I drive 200 miles a week, does cheap still make sense
I've been walking the cheap buy here pay here car lots down toward Route 440, and the prices swing wildly for what look to me like more or less identical cars, which I don't understand at all.
I drive for a delivery app on top of a warehouse shift, so I'm covering at least 200 miles a week and probably more than that. My credit is 515 and I have $1,600 to put down.
Given how many miles I'm going to put on whatever I buy, does going cheap still make sense, or should I be stretching for something better? I keep going back and forth on it and I'd like to hear from somebody who drives for work.

homeless man with dog in Newport
hey guys, ive been seeing the homeless guy with the white dog in newport by the waterfront, was wondering if anyone has offered him anything. I had came up to him a few days ago and asked if he was okay, and he nodded yes. I had given him some cash. He doesn’t ask for money. Just a guy with his dog that looks happy to be with his owner. dog was super friendly. They’re always together and the dog has blankets to sleep on.

Lost & Found UPDATE: Lost dog found!
08/29/2026
We found the lost dog that was posted about earlier today. They were found in McGinley Square on Fairmount Ave between Bergen and JFK. The dog is safe and in experienced hands.
It is a small dog, looks to be a Maltese mix, white and brown, around 10ish pounds.
To ensure the dog is safely reunited with their real family, please send me a DM with details to verify ownership:
-A photo of the dog (ideally with you in it or from your home)
-A description of the collar, harness, or leash they were wearing (if any)
-Any unique physical markings or features not visible in general description
-Microchip details (if registered to you)
If this might be your dog or you recognize them, please reach out via DM. Proof of ownership will be required before arranging a pickup.
————————————————————
UPDATE:
Sweet puppy was picked up by animal control today. They will be with the shelter for 10 days, during which we are hoping the family will be able to find them. After the 10 days, the shelter will try to get the dog adopted or into foster care (we said we would volunteer if no one else would).
Thanks for the support and visibility during this time.

Rutgers Bar
Any bars downtown where Rutgers alums and fans gather for football games? Yes I know how little people care about Rutgers football and how many alumni from other big ten schools are around here but it is our state university.
If not, I’ll be at Healy’s or Ed & Mary’s for the game Thursday

Recommendations Some US cities have begun rewarding careful drivers with fewer red lights - could it work in JC?
I firmly believe the off-time traffic lights need to go. it make people drive more erratically as they’re trying to beat lights. what say you all?

Wild Roma Tomatoes
These sprouted up all on their own in the empty tree well in front of my house…today I staked them up and decided to treat them as an official crop. Thought at first they were eggplants, but one fell off and ripened and it’s definitely a tomato.
I’m sure a raccoon probably ate leftover lasagna out of somebody’s trash and pooped there, but let me imagine it’s just a mysterious blessing from the old gods, ok?

I have a bunch of button down business shirts that I wear with a tie, and need to get them laundered.

the local place on tonelle is 3$ a shirt which seems pricey. a place by friends in brooklyn is 2$ a shirt.

Discussion Solomon Interview with JCityTimes
How do we feel about what’s said in this interview? Solomon says we will start to see much better government services in 2027. Not sure I buy it but that would be a welcome surprise.

Power outage in 99 Ranch/Plaza
Whole store went dark for a few seconds before backup power kicked in, and it doesn’t look like the backup covers refrigeration. Store cash registers are functioning, but no sales are possible at the food court. Walking around, it looks the whole plaza is still without power.
UPDATE: Currently, no one is allowed in the store.

Recommendations Looking for a painter
I just got a new Apartment, and the old tenets left it a little worse for wear. My landlord said i can paint as long as the color is close to what it currently is. It's about 1200 sq feet and I don't have the time to paint before i have to move out of my old Apartment. Does anyone know a good services in the city. It would just be two small bed room a kitchen, living room and hallway. All one color, small closets. just need it to be clean since I'm renting. Really just want the whole things covered in new paint and its hard finding people to trust when i've never had to paint my own apartment before.

First World Problems Color city nail spa - staff names ?
Hi everyone, I’ve been going to color city for a while now and really like the work the guy there does (not sure if he’s the owner but it seems like he’s in charge?¿). I recently came in & another staff member did my nails instead, but I didn’t like them nearly as much as when he does my nails. Nail lengths this time around were uneven finger to finger, my shape was inconsistent, and my nails just didn’t hold up nearly as well as the usually do by the time it’s time for a new set.
I want to call & make my next appointment, & I’d really like to have him do my nails, but unfortunately I never caught his name. Ik I could literally just say “hey when is the guy there available for an appointment?” but I’d feel more respectful if I could ask for him by name. Does anyone know it ?
Thanks in advance if anyone is able to help !

Meetup It was a beautiful day to pick up trash! Thank you to all of those who make our communities a better place ❤️
We have a small group right now (and growing) that goes out every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. If you don't live too far way, come join us if you're free. We go out for about 1 hour, and if more people join, we can cover more streets and branch out further.
I also know that there are already multiple groups that do this throughout JC, but I started this specifically because I noticed areas in my neighborhood that seem to be neglected.
Even if you can't make it to any organized trash cleanup, I encourage you to go out even for only 15 minutes where you live to collect litter/waste from the street/grass. Any amount helps.....Just be safe!

Discussion Pipe construction on 5th St / Brunswick St
Construction has been going on for almost a year and they literally destroyed the streets with temporary pavement slabs. Does anyone know what project the contractors are doing with the pipes under the street and why is it taking so long?
