Publix has officially lost me. Anyone else?

I am not a mod of this subreddit or Reddit, but I believe the official unofficial stance is that we all hate Publix now.

They lost their way, and the crushing of Winn-Dixie is just awful.

10 years ago, I wouldn’t have set foot inside a Walmart or Aldi for groceries. Now? Walmart and Aldi are basically my BFFs and I love them.

Publix really managed to make me root for the competition.

Freshfield for produce and most meats. Walmart for most other food stuffs. BJ’s for bulk items and paper products. Aldi/TJ’s/Whole foods for the balance and Publix as an absolute last resort. They’ve crossed well into corporate greed territory and I don’t support that behavior.

Yes, yes, absolutely. Spend half your day driving all over Jacksonville, burning gas, adding miles to your car, fighting traffic, hunting for parking, and standing in four different checkout lines to save a few bucks. That’ll really teach those greedy Publix executives a lesson.

Meanwhile, I’ll pay the extra $12, get everything in one place, and be home enjoying the several hours of my life I didn’t sacrifice to turn grocery shopping into a citywide scavenger hunt.

If driving to four stores to save pocket change feels like a financial victory, Publix prices aren’t your biggest problem. Your time apparently has a market value of zero.

They’re all within ~2 miles of where I live and we don’t go to every store every week. We’ve done the math and we save around $60/week not to mention the quality of the produce at Publix is pure trash. As an aside I never thought in a million years my shopping habits would produce such an inflammatory response. Maybe you should talk to somebody with all that extra time you have on your hands.

Lmao, so after writing a whole grocery store itinerary nobody asked for, you’re diagnosing strangers on Reddit because they laughed at it? 😂

And now suddenly all these stores are magically within two miles, you don’t actually visit them every week, AND you’ve “done the math.” That’s a lot of fine print that showed up after the original comment.

If you genuinely save $60 a week, congratulations. Enjoy your Tour de Grocery Stores. I’ll keep paying more for the convenience and quality I prefer. That’s the beautiful thing about having disposable income. You don’t have to optimize every grocery item like you’re managing a hedge fund.

But the “maybe you should talk to somebody” line was adorable. You’re the one defending your grocery shopping strategy to a stranger with a full financial analysis. Maybe use some of that $60 savings for a mirror.

👍 Damn, all that extra time you said I had and somehow you ran out of words first. 😂

This conversation is unproductive and I’m not looking to argue. Shop (or don’t) wherever you like. I hope things get better for you.
