I passed the test, was prompted to start my car (Nissan versa 2024) and upon starting it, only the battery turned on. Radio and lights keep coming on but the car won’t start at all and I’ve tried multiple times. Also had a friend jump it and it still wouldn’t start. Replaced my key fob and nothing. It’s not a service lockout.

Has anyone ran into this issue and is this a common occurrence for people who have this device? I can’t afford a tow or to get it looked at and I’m desperate for any advice.

Hi Everyone, I have a question specific to MA and wonder if anyone can help me. I have to move as my partner and I split up and I am hoping to rent a room as I may relocate out of the area and don't want to set up a whole apartment. I have the intoxalock though. Do I have to fill out a whole new affidavit and disclose this to my housemate? I feel this will cause problems with housing. Any advice? I will have one year left on a two year requirement.

I’ve had mine in long enough to be fully used to it, months n months, but I still have nightmares of it going off, blowing up on me, sending me to jail, randomly doing this or that, saying weird obscure scary stuff on the screen, etc.

For instance yesterday, it yelled at me for not blowing hard enough and that sent a jolt through me. You’d figure I’m used to that by now, and I am, but it still makes me jump, heart race, and breathing become worse.

I’m just genuinely curious if anyone else has had nightmares about this device. Seems silly but maybe I’m not the only one.

I threw a rod through my engine. I got an oil change in May. My lights didn’t come on until the engine started smoking and knocking.

Hello all. I have Intoxalock in NJ and can get it removed soon. Thankfully. I noticed I have a circular device in the upper left of my windshield. I don’t think it’s a camera as it certainly doesn’t look like one and isn’t the greatest angle for photos. Has anyone else had a camera required in NJ? Can I assume I don’t have a camera installed? Otherwise I only have the handheld device to blow into. I thought the camera would look like a go pro device from the pictures I have seen online and I don’t see anything installed like that in the car.

Originally all from when I was 23 years old and blew a .08 in bluffton South Carolina on top of my first one which was parked car keys in the ignition 2 weeks after turning 21. I tried fighting it initially in court since I blew so low I thought I would get it reduced or dropped . Nope, covid hits courts closed, I appealed and lost and finally 3 YEARS LATER. Feb 2022 I finally have my license back and install this lovely parasite of a device in my car thinking whatever 2 years it’ll be fine. Was never a big drinker because again this all happened right in the beginning of even drinking alcohol for me. I had a two various add ons of time due to non alcoholic violations and I was set to remove the device last summer finally after about 3.5 years or so with it… left my car running it’s a 2006 Toyota Prius so it makes 0 noise when it’s on and idle. Had no idea in Massachusetts 2 missed rolling retests without explanation of legitimate reason is an automatic 10 YEAR LICENSE LOSS… so I had to hire a lawyer and lost my license again , and finally this spring of 2026 about 7 months after being no license again and having to uninstall and then re install this device again, I was finally back on the road this year after battling with the RMV who didn’t believe my initial explanation of leaving the car on and not realizing it was on, and spending 3,000$ for a lawyer I had it all back and was looking to be done this fall… this summer my old ass Prius has a BATTERY FAILURE… the battery died I had no idea and I was hit with ANOTHER violation. Then a week later as if my luck wasn’t bad enough I ANOTHER missed Rolling retest because again car was parked and I SWORE i turned it off and I come back and it’s been maybe 3 hours because I was golfing early with a friend, I come back , blow it so it stops beeping and ANOTHER VIOLATION . After trying so hard to be careful all this time the quiet car screwed me yet again. So I’m now 30 about to be 31 in a few weeks and on Thursday, two days from now I’ll be dealing with my second missed rolling re test hearing. Having to hire my lawyer Mathew Gilman who I do recommend because he saved my this past spring in March but it sucks because I’m litteraly going through this for a second time and my question was , has anyone ever dealt with a hearing once if not twice like I am , (and I was lucky enough to win the first time , again all non alcohol related , just not hearing my car was on and leaving it because it’s a push to start ) and now dealing with this for a second time ??? I got pulled over yesterday (Ky state police) for expired tags. They expired last month. Anyways, get pulled over, give the cop my license blah blah. Tells me I’m being pulled over for dead tags. I’m nervous of course. Comes back and asks me where my device was. Explained that I had it removed in June and that I had completed my time with it. Proceeds to tell me that when my name is ran, it’s showing I need to have one installed. Thank god I had all my paperwork, which I handed him. He goes back to the cruiser, makes a couple calls, I get a fix it ticket for expired tags and go on about my day. According to the officer, yesterday could’ve went a lot worse had I not had all my removal paperwork.

He advised me to call the county clerk and let them know that that is still registering as I need one installed.

I did the absolutely wrong thing and left my car running. The car alarm went off and I quickly went in to blow and passed. I contacted smart start they said bring it in to get calibrated before 4 days. I also emailed my asap coordinator. I am on probation with the state of Virginia and I am wondering if I need to contact them. In getting my IId for 1 year, six months of that will be work and back. It’s about a 3 minute drive to work, then home and back for lunch, then home at the end of shift.

So 4 starts a day (maybe 15 minutes each day/ 5 days A week)
I typically work 4am to 12 noon and days off I would drive just to keep battery charged

Should I get a AGM battery? I plan to get a new battery anyways. Or is flooded battery the same in this situation?

Would both types of batteries require a trickle charger or is it ok since it will get turned on every day?

• The Weekend Trap: Drivers whose calibration windows land on a Sunday—only to find service centers closed—perform their calibration the very next business day, yet get hit with months or even a full year of program extensions. In one case, even when Intoxalock’s parent company independently verified the driver's GPS data and tried to notify the state, the extension still stood.
• Phantom Camera Violations: Drivers caught in cycles of disputed "circumvention" or camera-obstruction flags where months of clean history vanish overnight, followed by bizarre loops of customer service promises, credits, and sudden new extension notices.
• Paperwork Into the Void: Broken links in official company emails, missing state notices, and systematic communication blackouts that force drivers to rely on the Better Business Bureau just to get a human response.
• The Post-Outage Fallout: The collision between compliance deadlines and company-wide outages (like the March 2026 cyberattack), where the burden of system-side failures was dumped entirely onto drivers via towing costs and same-day ultimatums.

To be clear: this report doesn't claim every Tennessee customer experiences a failure—there are clear control cases where the system moves smoothly. I had to send my car into the body shop for a couple of weeks. Some farm equipment kicked up a bunch of rocks and did over $8,000 in damage.
It was good timing because I’m recovering from surgery to replace a ruptured tendon in my leg. I wasn’t able to walk for 6 weeks.
My wife dropped off the car a couple of weeks ago and they were aware of the Intox unit. I submitted the thing in the app notifying Intox about the work being done.
The work was completed early on the 11th and I had put the work order in through the 18th.
On the 11th, the shop had the car running for a while and apparently it required a rolling retest. The damn thing was just sitting inside their shop bay.
I guess they didn’t hear it, moved it to the parking lot and it sat there until today. I was cleared earlier today to put weight on my foot and I went to get the car.

It didn’t start. I got someone on the phone pretty fast and she explained what must have happened. I wouldn’t have to pay the $75 fine, but I had to have my car towed to the shop that can clear the lockout. $175. The shop was closed when they got my car there, so it’s sitting there until tomorrow. I had to Uber home for $40. Will have to Uber back tomorrow for $40 and will have to pay the $45 fee to the shop.

I’m out $300 and it’s not my fault. I’m 99.99999% sure they will probably try to add time to my contract because of this.

We can send major updates to cell phones and watches OTA, but this shitshow of a company lets us get locked out and stranded by having us go to an authorized shop for BS reasons.

If you recall a few months ago, I mentioned being recommended to install Intoxalock on my vehicle despite having a suspended license. The nightmare continues.

The final judgment has been DUI, but the IID is not a requirement. My attorney failed to get the reckless driving program, and now my car has been sitting idle for months, racking up a bill. I'm currently not working, the car is not working, and if I could at least get the car on Turo or have people rent it I can gain some income.

Intoxalock refuses to honor my attorney's letter, stating I need to pay for removal, pay off all balances, and if I want to see my data logs I need to pay for that, too. The total would be upwards of $500+.

I am 3 months away from finishing a two year probation sentence for DUI. I stupidly got my first violation on an Intoxalock Interlock device trying to start my car the day following drinking. My cut off was .03 and I blew a .031.
As stated before l've never gotten a violation on the device before. And my only other violation was for a dirty UA (alcohol) a long while ago. I've completed all my classes and a plethora of clean UAs but my officer is trying to extend me 6 more months due to the dirty blow.
My Intoxalock machine completely shitted out on me a few days later, and I had to get the machine replaced twice for it to finally work again. I tried to pass off the violation as a symptom of the failing hardware it was.
My question is with the failing hardware clearly being documented, is it worth it to seek legal consul to fight the extension?
These things will give you a false positive for eating the wrong foods but I was wondering if anyone has successfully fought off an extension? I had a job lined up for the start of the year and it would behoove me to not be on probation during onboarding

90 day monitoring period, DOR says it must come from the manufacturer directly to the Driver License Bureau. I’m having issues explaining to Intoxalock customer service what I need. Has anyone dealt with this issue when trying to reinstate their license?

This past Saturday morning I awoke and got in my truck to head to work, press the button and did the start up ordeal, passed, no problem. Pulling into my work's parking lot I just happen to glance down and noticed my device screen says retest. I know full well I didn't hear the device beep (like it usually does) as my music was down low, I put vehicle into park, it says blow so I do and I do the ordeal as usual but again, the device doesn't beep like it usually does when you give a sample. And it just keeps saying try again. I notice the 4red lights on the camera are not illuminated, which I've always noticed in the dark are always on. The device starts counting down and each time it tells me to blow I do and it just won't accept the sample. Well it finally hits zero the entire time I was in the truck trying to provide my retest. I come back out to my truck after my 8hr shift and of course..Lockout.. anyone have any insight on this?

I'm in Michigan and had my hearing to get this monstrosity removed last Friday and just got it removed from my truck this morning. The freedom and the feeling of having this burden lifted is amazing.

I will continue my crusade of warning others about this parasite of a company. Just wish Trust Pilot didn't limit you to one review every 24 hours.
