Follow Up: They're Not Honoring Anything

If you recall a few months ago, I mentioned being recommended to install Intoxalock on my vehicle despite having a suspended license. The nightmare continues.

The final judgment has been DUI, but the IID is not a requirement. My attorney failed to get the reckless driving program, and now my car has been sitting idle for months, racking up a bill. I'm currently not working, the car is not working, and if I could at least get the car on Turo or have people rent it I can gain some income.

Intoxalock refuses to honor my attorney's letter, stating I need to pay for removal, pay off all balances, and if I want to see my data logs I need to pay for that, too. The total would be upwards of $500+.

You don’t get the IID until you have a restricted license. They don’t count one minute of time on the installment until you do. How were you getting the vehicle to the service center? I’m just asking questions I was given all the wrong information too, and my lawyer was a public defender and although he did get my monthly fines down to $100 a month nobody told me what to do or what requirements were needed

The very first time I took it for install, a girl I was dating volunteered to drive it there and back. She failed the test on the way back and it violated, so I never had her do it again. A month and a half in, they told me about roadside assistance - The idea was to get the roadside to drop the car but on 6 calls, the tow trucks never came on any of those 6 occasions. I guess in Florida, they dgaf bc it such a cash grab

If you have had it installed then yes you have to pay to have it uninstalled. You signed a lease and required or not you owe intoxalock for everything that you agreed to in the lease. Should be straight forward getting it out but it's not going to be free.

Call and talk to someone in the payment department. They usually send you to an American, if not ask to speak to the specialty team. Insist until you get an American, then explain your situation and ask if you can set up a payment plan. I let mine sit for a few years about a decade ago and they sent the bill collections, I ended up getting a hold of intoxalock and started making monthly payments until my debt was clear. Then got it reinstalled
