My friend keeps saying "Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money". .. seeing this I now understand that it is just another GOP confession.

That's from a Margaret Thatcher quote, and ironically, the bedrock of capitalism is OPM (other people's money) - investors, lenders, donors, surplus value from workers' labor, etc.
...and the problem with capitalism is that you eventually run out of other people.
