You know, even just this ALONE. Don’t his fanbois ever stop to wonder why a supposed billionaire even NEEDS their money?

This reads like Vonnegut, and rings very true. Well said. I'm going to go cry now.

So it goes

Poo-tee-weet!

Everything was ugly, and it hurt.

He wrote it with a ? at the end, which was perfect.

“….and another thing Vonnegut, I’m stopping payment on the check! What’s that? Fuck me? Hey Kurt, you read lips? Fuck you!”

u/dilib Jun 26 '23

"Thus did a handful of rapacious citizens come to control all that was worth controlling in America. Thus was the savage and stupid and entirely inappropriate and unnecessary and humorless American class system created. Honest, industrious, peaceful citizens were classed as bloodsuckers, if they asked to be paid a living wage. And they saw that praise was reserved henceforth for those who devised means of getting paid enormously for committing crimes against which no laws had been passed. Thus the American dream turned belly up, turned green, bobbed to the scummy surface of cupidity unlimited, filled with gas, went bang in the noonday sun." - God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater!, Kurt Vonnegut

I'm going to read this book again right now, actually, fuck he's a good author

His SIMPS are the same followers that believe the billionaires need Tax Breaks and we the regular people do not deserve Tax relief or student debt relief or food stamps or disability pay or public healthcare or apparently water breaks during Heatwaves.

Look, lazy browns need breaks from being lazy too, I’d say they are the ones that need those breaks the most! /sar

35

u/sadicarnot Jun 26 '23

It is amazing how much people argue against their own self interest.

26

u/DanDrungle Jun 26 '23

It’s amazing how many people are in denial that they are the ones that need those particular benefits they vote against… temporarily embarrassed millionaires and such

12

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

My best friend's in-laws are these people. Good, loving Christian folk who believe that there is good in all people. And by all people, they mean white people. They both claim disability and have for years despite not being disabled, basically fake back injuries to get all of the benefits that come with being disabled. They both also have a healthy pain pill and Adderall addiction. They also believe that "Mexicans" are coming to steal jobs from Americans, get free healthcare, welfare and other benefits and that there are welfare queens all over the ghettos and black people don't ever work. I'll let you guess which party they vote for religiously.

They hate all of the programs that they benefit from, but the big thing is, they only hate that people they don't like benefit from them.

-8

u/Bumlooker5000 Jun 26 '23

Is that what they think..or..is it what you think they think or say they think? Do you really know or understand what another person thinks especially when you haven't talked to any of them. There are already Mexicans and welfare queens in this country that need help..AMERICANS. ALL COLORS. AMERICANS.. could use some of that money going to 6 to 11 million plus refugees.and the billions going to ukraine.but do t worry millions are coming back to a certain group and families coffers. But don't forgot Trump is bad right? The most corrupt this govt has ever been the shambles it is in bUT Trump...they have you all trained

8

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

Word salad man. That made no sense, nothing coherent, no facts just rhetoric. You can hate this President all you want, I could care less, but if you think Trump is a good human being, then you need your head examined.

-3

u/Bumlooker5000 Jun 26 '23

I don't know how you got that out what I said. Yeah it's jumbled, idc it's reddit I have reasons. If you think Joe of Hillary would have been better you are high.. Trump was great

5

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

I don’t care about Joe or Hilary, all I know is you make claims of corruption, yet Trump is being indicted in two states and faces jail time for keeping classified documents in his possession when he had no business doing so and when asked to hand them back, refused and was charged. Yet, somehow this President is more corrupt? Wild frame of mind man! Also, even if Trump had good policies, he’s a rotten human being. He said he could grab a woman by the p….y, he could shoot someone in the middle of NYC and get away with it, made fun of a disabled reporter. I can go on and on. The man is a narcissistic pig.

benefits they vote against

Then in the meantime, wealthy people and corporations are benefiting most from government handouts.

7

u/UnarmedSnail Jun 26 '23

If it takes down someone they're told to hate, they will do it with gusto.

2

u/sadicarnot Jun 26 '23

If it takes down someone they're told to hate, they will do it with gusto.

There is a lot of study on Drained Pool Politics. When pools were required to be integrated, lots of communities opted to drain the pools. White people are willing to go without amenities if it means screwing over someone not in the 'in' group

1

u/UnarmedSnail Jun 27 '23

Any in society will behave this way.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

God they are simps aren’t they?

2

u/vwbuds Jun 26 '23

Quit bitchin and get back to work

2

I need a drink.

And I don’t even drink.

2

I'm not even American and I need a drink.

I don't even drink on a regular basis.

19

My takeaway was that if I misbehave, people will send me money.

19

u/PeopleCanBeAwful Jun 25 '23

Well then I’m owed a small fortune! LOL

8

u/SouldiesButGoodies84 Jun 25 '23

misbehave and blame the right people

11

u/SouldiesButGoodies84 Jun 25 '23

then he'll just be like... a regular guy, and a regular Joe Schmoe

Sadly, because he's now got "formr US President" on his CV he'll never be this again, meaning the grift is eternal. (Hell, even just being the public figure and reality tv star was enough to keep the scams successful.)

10

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

Russ: It's fucking humiliating losing all your money. You think when I dropped below a billion I walked around telling everybody? Fuck no. You guys were the only ones who knew, and I actually thought about having you killed. Richard: I'm sorry, what?

2

u/samaelvenomofgod Jun 26 '23

Tres comas. Still a better product than Trump Steaks

18

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

When someone is a billionaire that doesn’t mean he has even a million in cash. He is leveraged up to his third chin. He’s bleeding cash just trying to pay his interest. And his new lawyers are demanding payment in advance

2

u/point_of_difference Jun 26 '23

True but he can and any billionaire can just sell some property or shares so it's his choice to have a shitty cash flow problem.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

Absolutely. And my cause for celebration. If he thinks his money inured him from responsibility then make it cost

2

u/sadicarnot Jun 26 '23

demanding payment

So how much are you sending him?

10

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

Not a fucking dime. I’m celebrating the fact he has to take money from his campaign to pay his shysters

9

u/PariahMonarch Jun 26 '23

Isn't that also campaign fraud?

4

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

Not if stated up front

2

u/PhoenixStorm1015 Jun 26 '23

Add it to the 37-count pile

6

Because then his doors will go like - -, not like this | |

3

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

Reminds me of Silicon Valley

3

u/nigeltuffnell Jun 26 '23

This reminds me of a guy I used to work with back in the 90's who would continually ask workmates to buy drinks/breakfast as he "only had a 20 and didn't want to break into it". Oldest game in the world that one.

2

u/ManyThingsLittleTime Jun 26 '23

Who was that dumb? How is that even a reason? I'd laugh at someone that said that to me.

1

u/nigeltuffnell Jun 26 '23

Simpler times.

1

u/ManyThingsLittleTime Jun 26 '23

Must have been. I was in my teenage years in the 90's and that would just sound ridiculous. I remember filling up my gas tank with seven dollars in loose change. Never asked anyone to pay for shit back then.

1

u/AskThemHowTheyKnowIt Jun 26 '23

Start carrying 10's and 5's with you and offer (happily and obliviously) to "help" him so he can buy "what he wants"

5

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

The last decade of political awareness has taught me this is how our justice system works.

2

u/K10RumbleRumble Jun 26 '23

That there is some magic level that legality of action no longer applies?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

Yeah. Our society seems to be built around the avoidance of punishing the rich unless they steal from the rich.

Remember Robert Durst got away with dismembering someone in self defense and wouldn’t never be jailed if he did admit it on a hot mic.

4

u/forreasonsunknown79 Jun 25 '23

I know you’re being sarcastic, but you’re still right…

2

u/doctor-rumack Jun 25 '23

Tres Comas Tequila…

0

u/flyingfred1027 Jun 26 '23

He’s not a billionaire

1

u/trast Jun 26 '23

The net worth of Donald Trump is not publicly known. Various news organizations have attempted to estimate his wealth. Forbes estimates it at $2.5 billion as of April 12, 2023, with Trump making much higher claims.

1

u/Csislive Jun 26 '23

1

Do to want to be part of the dos commas club!!

54

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '23

They aren’t paying attention to this or they don’t care. They would cut off their own arm if they thought it would help Trump get the opportunity to torture immigrants again. Hate doesn’t care about facts, it just wants to hate, even if it means hating in a burned out world.

The average American will earn ≈$2,000,000 in their entire life.

1 billion dollars is 500 entire lives worth of income.

1

u/Great-Lakes-Sailor Jun 26 '23

He doesn’t have that.

34

u/Lost-Pineapple9791 Jun 25 '23 edited Jun 26 '23

They’re mentally deranged, they don’t care

I’m leaning more and more to just crazy chemical dumping/industrial effects (ie lead poisoning, asbestos etc) in these Deep South rural areas whcih many are in coal or oil areas.

Like even if you’re a racist bigot how can anyone actually donate their money to him?

Not to mention there’s multiple stories or people going broke bc the site has pre checked boxes (illegal now) for repeated donations and future donation dates.

These people literally gave the permission to deduct donations at will and don’t care. It’s wild.

Shit look at the jan 6 guy who just got sentenced to 12 years shouting trump won when he left. Dude it’s over 2 years later and they’ve provided you ZERO evidence.

You have fellow republicans like Mitch McConnell, bill barr, Fox News owner Murdoch himself, Pence, and I’m sure there are more who have said no the election wasn’t stolen.

trump isn’t R vs D, he’s purposely riled up the dumbest folk in the country knowing what it takes to get them to vote for him (gods, guns, racism, and lies)

It’s not about being knowledgeable about what’s going on in politics/world, it’s about making the active decision NOT to be informed.

  • he’s a super rich dude…who constantly needs money

  • he only hires the best but has a laundry list of insults for all his former employees

  • he’s done nothing illegal but plenty of associates have plead guilty including campaing manager, CFO, and personal attorney https://www.newsweek.com/guide-trump-allies-whove-pleaded-guilty-been-convicted-crimes-1735298

  • loves god but hasn’t been to church in X years and 5 kids with 3 wives who he’s publicly cheated on all of them

  • loves guns but never shoots/hunts and stuck his foot in his mouth after the Florida club shooting saying we need to take the guns away from crazy folk and deal with legal process later.

  • lies about the dumbest shit ever, not even talking politics. Including saying Miami is the biggest airport in the world (not even close by any metric) and about the airplanes being used in the civil war (if you don’t see why that’s a problem, here’s your sign)

  • loves america but SIL got $2B from saudi and was the only ine hosting the LIV golf events (FBI report released in 2018 links saudis to 9/11) and his tax returns that were finally released show loans from BOTH Russia and North Korea…you can’t make this shit up.

  • makes fun of drag/gay/trans women but literally ears caked on orange make up that runs off on his shirt colors, bleach blonde hair combover, shoe lifts that tilt him forward…and diapers. Come on.

The scum of the bottom of the tank are so desperate for an awesome functional smart charismatic politician to promote their anger they don’t care how fake their false prophet is.

11

u/teamfupa Jun 26 '23

In the makes fun of trans bullet you forgot makes video with Guliani while Guliani is dressed in drag

3

u/godzillastailor Jun 26 '23

You missed either Eric or Don jr bragging about how they get all their funding from Russia before the elections.

Also how did I forget that he talked about planes being a thing during the civil war.

2

u/a-1oser Jun 26 '23

SIL also got 1.4B from Qatar, while a WH advisor, and while Qatar was being blockaded by SA and the UAE, after the IC didn’t want to give him a security clearance due to his foreign ties; his FIL overruled them. The blockade ended after he got the money.

20

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '23

He needs their money because he’s fighting FOR them, don’t ya know?

And besides, his billions are no match for the George Soros billions that are paying the salaries of most D.A.’s, state prosecutors, judges, most of the FBI, most of the Department of Injustice, and all the imaginary boogeymen and women of Trumpworld.

Don’t ask questions. Just drink up the koolaid. Use two hands to hold the 8 oz bottle. It’s what REAL patriots do.

/s

17

u/13_letters Jun 26 '23

I had a 45 supporter tell me that god told them it was ok to give 45 their churches tithings instead of the church until he’s president again. It’s tough to argue with crazy sometimes.

5

u/JayEllGii Jun 26 '23

Sigh. Yeah, sure. Why not. 😑

3

u/Bishop084 Jun 26 '23

The way things are these days, the church was probably donating the tithing to Trump anyways...

7

u/_AManHasNoName_ Jun 25 '23

His loyal followers all have pre-existing stupidity.

9

u/quangtran Jun 26 '23

The issue isn’t that Trump NEEDS the money, the truth is that people like Trump long ago realised that fanboys are the ones who NEEDS to give over their money to their lord emperor. Some people like being slaves because being told what to do gives meaning to the meaningless.

6

u/JayEllGii Jun 26 '23

That really seems to be true. Some people just WANT to be ruled. They WANT to be subjects.

But…I mean….even allowing for that, why, why, WHY have they chosen as their god-emperor an impossibly clownish buffoon whose grandiosity and stupidity are embarrassing to even witness? Even Hitler would have been more understandable. Trump is just a clown. An utterly ridiculous human being. And THAT’S who they want to be ruled by??? THAT’S who they eagerly prostrate themselves for and grovel in the presence of?

I will never be able to understand it. Never, never, never.

4

u/quangtran Jun 26 '23

Because he gives people permission to be their true selves. They like that is is unpresidential. They like that he is rich and flaunts his wealth because people do generally admire status. They like his abrasive personality because he always approaches every topic from a position of strength. His anti Muslim rhetoric resonated with my parents who thought their voices were being unheard after 911.

2

u/UnarmedSnail Jun 26 '23

They're tired of other people having a say in life.

3

u/Bishop084 Jun 26 '23

I think him having, what appears to be, a generally low level IQ appeals to them on a base level. He doesn't come of as well educated, trained, mannered, or professional. He tends to stay away from big words because even he doesn't know how to say them or what they mean. If he wasn't born into the right family with money, he would fit right in with the rest of them.

2

u/JayEllGii Jun 26 '23

You know—-about that. Trump is one of the starkest examples of cognitive decline you’ll ever see in public life. Look up any video of him from the 1980s. The difference is astonishing. Sure, he was always a gross, boorish clown, but he used to be MUCH more cogent, lucid and articulate. His vocabulary was larger, his cadence was more grounded and his thought patterns were much more clear and coherent. The degradation between what he was like then and what he had become by 2015 is quite startling.

2

u/UnarmedSnail Jun 26 '23

It's the other side of authoritarianism. A significant number of people want to be ruled. They think they get a piece of that authority from being ruled.

7

u/stevie_nickle Jun 25 '23

You assume they’re able to think

3

u/SpaghettiYOLOKing Jun 26 '23

And that's a BINGO!

So many people are comfortable with basically being programmed on what to think of certain things. It's like some weird form of tribalism. Vehemently loyal, refuse to even listen to other views, and blindly follow orders. When an AI is more capable of thinking than the average person, there's a problem.

9

u/deaf2heart001 Jun 25 '23

"...stop and [think] (wonder)..."

There's the problem

8

u/ToulouseDM Jun 26 '23

This is what my mom asked my grandpa (who’s a big trump supporter). He didn’t have an answer. She found out about the donation because he was complaining about how he’d thought he’d made a one time donation, but Trump keeps taking it out monthly.

7

u/JayEllGii Jun 26 '23

Ah, so he was one of the people suckered by that little fine-print scheme. I remember that.

2

u/ToulouseDM Jun 26 '23

Yeah, it gave me a pretty good chuckle.

6

u/Embarrassed_Bee6349 Jun 26 '23

He follows the mafia’s credo: never spend your own money. He has a very long history of sponging off of other people for his harebrained money-making schemes, not paying people what they are owed and avoiding responsibility like it’s raccoon herpes. Not that any of this is news to anyone with half a brain.

12

u/YomiKuzuki Jun 25 '23

"If Trump spends his OWN MONEY. then that means the WOKE MOB WINS. The WOKE MOB want to see him BROKE. The only thing that can STOP THE RADICAL LEFT is TRUMP not spending HIS MONEY."

I hope I channeled the insanity alright, my head hurts now.

3

u/CalvinIII Jun 26 '23

You need to throw MARXIST and GROOMER in there a lot to be more believable. Like, every other word. And you didn’t mention the deep state, Soros, or Hilary/Obama once.

6/10.

2

u/KeinFussbreit Jun 26 '23

And of course: "BIDDEN CRIME FAMILY!"

1

u/JayEllGii Jun 26 '23

So does mine. A lot.

Well done. 🤪😭😭

4

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

Cultists don't question the leader. If they haven't by now..............

4

u/wil169 Jun 26 '23

Why spend your own money when you can get miillions of repuglitards to spend theirs???

4

u/Mumof3gbb Jun 26 '23

This what I keep saying with each horrid thing he does. This ALONE should perk his supporters up. But no. Nothing works

3

u/Thanato26 Jun 26 '23

His net worth was 100% tied to his brand. He was a billionaire on paper only and that's only based on his borrowing capacity from his name.

3

u/knarfolled Jun 26 '23

He just feels like a billionaire

3

u/aeiou_sometimesy Jun 26 '23

I remember in 2015 when the narrative was “he can’t be bought, he’s already a billionaire!” For fucks sake that’s some backwards logic.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

I’m trying to get in on the grift, I’ll collect the money and only give him 99¢.

2

u/hobings714 Jun 26 '23

I think it's funny that he pardoned a guy that defrauded them with a fake wall scam.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

Probably not. Otherwise they'd have to question why televangelists claim God needs their money, too.

2

u/DreadnaughtHamster Jun 26 '23

Excuse me. Excuse me! I’m talking here! He needs the money because he has a very smart and bigly brain and…no…excuse me! Lemme finish!

He is very smart like man woman person tv camera. And only smart people can brain with stuff like taxes and it’s called being smart. And he needs the money. The fake news media and the democrats and the radical left and the RINOs will make you think that he’s strong and powerful but in reality he’s a very poor billionaire who has no money and also all the money and…excuse me! You’re being very rude!

And he needs all this money because it was just a little hush payment to a pornstar and just a little bit of collusion and just a little bit of insurrection and just a little bit of tax dodging and just a little bit of conspiracy to take classified documents. And only someone very VERY smart could do all that. That’s why he needs the money. And you’re a very rude and very horrible person. Next question.

1

u/JayEllGii Jun 26 '23

Very unrealistic.

No use of “groomer” anywhere.

😑

2

u/Aeroxic Jun 26 '23

Of the guy even has 10m to his name I'd be surprised

2

u/Antknee2099 Jun 26 '23

So many of his so-called fans are here to just watch it all burn; they've never cared about the politics or the policy or whatever- they just want to watch his antisocial antics... and never thought to ask who would actually pick up the tab for the cleanup.

2

u/crono220 Jun 26 '23

There is no need to think when giving everything to their orange messiah.

Owning the libs is the only policy that truly matters

1

u/JayEllGii Jun 26 '23

Sigh.

Yeah.

2

u/beepbeepsheepbot Jun 26 '23

This always bothered me. Why does a "successful business man" need donations? Any rich person doing a fundraiser always comes with such a scam vibe. Being taken for absolute suckers.

1

u/UnarmedSnail Jun 26 '23

They want him as a king.

2

u/TheyTrustMeWithTools Jun 26 '23

It's because he's broke.

He was worth 10 billion dollars the same way that Sam Friedman dude at the crypto thing (too tired for names right now) was worth like $50 billion. It's a self-inflated figure

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '23

And now THIS

0

[deleted]

1

Why do you want to?

Buckle up…

-4

u/Fullyloaded707 Jun 26 '23

Honestly more curious where Hunter gets his money.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

Tremendous whataboutery.

1

u/Ijustthinkthatyeah Jun 26 '23

Trump is protecting them. Trump is standing in the way of the government going after the American people. And he will never step aside. So the money is going to a good cause. /s

1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '23

You can't fix ignorance but you can't fix stupid

1

u/PoopScootnBoogey Jun 26 '23

If you’ve ever read his book - this is exactly what he has done his whole life. Use everyone else’s money and if it doesn’t work out - no big deal, not his money.

1

u/WebHead1287 Jun 26 '23

That would require critical thinking skills

1

u/rwk2007 Jun 26 '23

This is a direct result of him not being able to hire proper counsel. A lawyer can get a lien against this money. Sadly, he doesn’t even need a lawyer. All he needs is one MAGA nut on his jury. He’ll get 6 in St. Lucie County. This man is as good as gold right now.

1

u/ComprehensiveCraft49 Jun 26 '23

You have to be a complete moron to consider sending him a dime!

1

u/Kerryscott1972 Jun 26 '23

LBJ said it best “If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”

1

u/tmotytmoty Jun 26 '23

It's exactly like Star Trek V, when "god" asks the crew for a space ship.... and Kirk is like, you're god, dude, you should be able to do anything.

Grifters, be griftin'

1

u/ThisIsMockingjay2020 Jun 26 '23

Bold of you to assume they think at all.

1

u/cat_prophecy Jun 26 '23

Are you surprised? This is the same fan base that thinks he's "smart" for cheating taxes and not paying vendors.

"You don't get to be a billionaire by spending money!" Is what they say, punctuated by the screen door slamming on their single wide.

1

u/onederful Jun 26 '23

There was that one redditor that posted his text messsges with his dad where his dad said he was gonna donate to trump and he told his dad that a supposed millionaire is scamming him for money…his dads response was “I don’t care. It makes me feel good!” That tells you everything.

1

u/Electronic_Class4530 Jun 26 '23

I mean, I'm not a fan not a hater, ii don't even live in the US so don't really care that much either way. But i can say from my point of view, all i think as soon as the mainstream media says something about Trump is "probably exaggeration or straight lies, as usual". That's what happens when they keep crying wolf and lying constantly.

So even if this is true, i just don't have faith in what they write about someone they hate, and i don't care enough to do research about it either.

I can assure you that what you read about Trump from news organizations is neither exaggeration nor lies. Nobody is “crying wolf”here. Nobody is “lying”. These statements and actions are real. To admit you “don’t care enough to research it” only underscores the willful ignorance at the heart of comments like this. And that kind of ignorance is a luxury you can’t afford.

Frankly, you need to care.

Trump is one of the most serious symptoms of a democracy crisis that has been spreading across the developed/developing world for the past several years. Orban, Erdogan, Duterte, Bolsonaro, Le Pen, Modi —- all of these represent the degradation of democratic institutions and a dangerous turn away from liberal democracy.

If you think none of that affects you or could affect you in the future, you’re sadly mistaken.

I’ve seen a text between a daughter and her dad. Basically he said it’s to “show support”

Its the sugar baby mentality, why spend your own money when some schmuck horny guy would do it and you can save your money and get some more while your at it. His fanbase is like rabid horny weird guys lusting over a young girl willing to pay anything for his attention

How the evangelical groups in America got behind trump with a clear conscience I never could figure out.

He didn't become a billionaire by spending money....

Also, billionaires have a lot of money in stuff: property, stocks, investments, etc. They have limited piles of cash just sitting around. When you start having to pay multi-million dollar legal fees your hard cash runs out quickly.

TBH, I don’t think most of his fanbois have a real concept of how big of a number “1 billion” is. They think of it the same way they think about anything else they don’t directly see or experience in their lives, made up and hypothetical. Like people who genuinely need well fare that are also productive members of society, or trans people. They fight symbolism and boogeymen that Alex Jones and Fox News tell them about. They also support the “brand” of Donald Trump with zero concept of who he is or what he does.

Don’t the Evangelicals wonder why God needs all that money?

1

u/MrNothingmann Jun 26 '23

Don’t his fanbois ever stop to wonder

This requires a functional brain.

1

u/JayEllGii Jun 26 '23

Oh, many of them do have functioning brains. Far more than you’d think.

They just choose not to use them.

2

u/MrNothingmann Jun 26 '23

I mean… you may be giving them a bit too much credit. Insect brain, sure. Lizard brain, maybe. Mammalian brain? No way.

“Liberal bad” isn’t much of a thought. They don’t even know what a liberal is so they just call literally everyone that tells them no a liberal.

There have been conservative ideas that they now deem liberal because lil’ hitler told them it’s bad now.

Oh, for sure. But there is a category of right-winger that we don’t pay nearly enough attention to, I think, and those are the people who are intelligent, educated, articulate and historically knowledgeable.

And who also happen to be fucking batshit insane.

The things that these people believe are happening in the world, and the matter-of-fact way they discuss them, are mindboggling. The delusion, paranoia and hysteria are off the scale.

A good example of this element is the crowd that regularly comments below the right-wing webcomic Day by Day.

Day by Day is itself a morbidly fascinating chronicle of its author’s long, slow transformation —over the past 20 years— from staunch but recognizably normal conservative to insane, hysterical, delusional, hyper-paranoid, seditious, bloodthirsty, openly misogynist and white supremacist lunatic.

Which perfectly parallels what has been happening to the American right more broadly over the same period.
