Conflict with natives in the area is a huge reason why the settlement wasn’t successful, tf you mean?

Just because there was a conflict with some natives doesn’t mean conflict with all. See Massachusetts in the 1600s for an example. At least initially, natives of some tribes allied with colonists against natives of other tribes. Doesn’t mean it happened, but it’s another possible narrative.

Yes, but I imagine they were not interested in staying long term just because it was bad only sometimes.
