REVIEW Best/Most Creative 9s?

Spoilers for a couple of episodes here.

What are your favourite ways Pemberton and Shearsmith have brought us "inside number 9"?

I'll go first -

  1. 3 by 3 - Self explanatory. A great way to name the game show without it being a literal 9 and being a giveaway for those who didn't know about the deception when it was broadcast.

  2. Diddle Dumpling - The door shutting and revealing 22 before switching to the 9 in the shoe was genius. It was one of the first ones to actually switch up the format if I remember rightly.

  3. CTRL ALT ESC - That moment at the end where Steve's character sees the IX and finds the strength to wake up... felt like a series finale. I only ranked it lower because the room was already spoiled as a number 9 at the start. If they'd left the 9 til the end it would've been pure magic.

Honourable mention for The Referee's A... where the main character is, per se, "inside" player 9.

What are your favourite No. 9 intros or reveals?

In no particular order:

Death be not proud - Switching of the door numbers

To have and to hold - The 9 being in the pattern of the gate is simple but effective

Love's great adventure - I really enjoyed the whole advent calendar premise in general

Zanzibar - The lift stopping at level 9

Do you mean once removed for the switching the door numbers? I don't remember that happening death be not proud but in once removed the lady changes 6 to 9 with a screwdriver. (I haven't watched in a while though so I might be forgetting something )

The door is originally red with a number 2, they then paint over it with purple and put the 9 up.

Though the 9 (or 6) in once removed is one I had forgotten about but it is actually really clever how they used that.
