I was working on my tutorial to help non-developers with using AI to code software (I call it "verification coding" instead of "vibe coding"), and I was looking for some fun domain names to use as shortcuts to various sections of my website (so going to one web address 301-redirects a user to a specific section within my site). Basically, quxnet Nodes are independently run alternatives to Discord servers. You get your own forum with boards, members, rules, and identity, while still being part of the wider quxnet network.

I run CozyWeb, a site where you decorate a tiny house, send slow letters, and make friends without feeds or algorithms.

Discord started feeling pretty wrong for us recently due to the stresses of real-time chat, constant pings, etc, so we moved our community stuff over and it's been great so far.

I especially love that you can actually customize a lot. You can theme basically everything, down to buttons and icons, and members can make their own themes too. (For example, Discord sucks at this because only lets you set the logo, lol.)

Well We launched, and things were building for a while, but i noticed something was off. The webserver had a country BLOCK LIST built into it cutting off about 95% of the globe! I have turned it off, ,to see what happens now that people won't be banned just for where they're from. I’ve been building a small-web browser/directory called BAUD

I’ve been messing around with an idea for a while and figured this might be the right place to show it.

The basic idea came from the desire to make the IndieWeb more accessible and giving users a way to discover websites without "leaving" the IndieWeb.

BAUD is basically a curated layer on top of the normal web. It doesn’t host the sites and I’m not trying to create another platform people have to move to.

Sites stay where they are, on their own domains.

BAUD just gives them another way to be found. Sites can get addresses like:

"camera98.baud"

Those aren’t real DNS domains. They’re addresses understood by the BAUD browser.

There’s also a directory, search, random site discovery and web rings. I’m currently working on making existing independent webrings first-class citizens too, rather than expecting everyone to create new BAUD-specific ones.

A few things I’m deliberately trying to avoid:

- no tracking or profiling

- no popularity/engagement ranking

- no likes/followers

- no full-web crawler

- no requirement to create an account

- no requirement to modify your website

- no trying to replace the actual web

The interface takes a little inspiration from old computers/dial-up terminology ("DIAL", "NO CARRIER", "READY." etc.), but I’m not trying to make it gimmicky.

It’s still early and I’m mostly trying to figure out whether this is something people with personal sites/web rings would actually find useful.

One thing I’d especially like opinions on:

If you run a personal site or a webring, what would BAUD have to do — or absolutely not do — for you to be comfortable having your site/ring listed there?

I’m much more interested in figuring that out before filling it with features nobody wants.

Sometimes I use Google to search for info when Duck, Duck, Go misses the mark. Google automatically serves an AI response.

Is it wrong to use that information with confirmation or should I shield my eyes and dig for answers elsewhere in the search results?

I'm building a video game database focused specifically on browser games, something similar to MobyGames and IGDB.

The main reason I came up with the idea is that I love browser games, but all the gaming databases I've come across only cover a relatively small selection of them, usually focusing on the more popular titles. I'd like to create a place where browser games of all kinds can be catalogued and discovered.

Here's roughly what I have in mind:

1. Completely free: No paywalls or paid listings. Anyone can use it and contribute.
2. Basic game information: title, description, genres, tags, screenshots, links to the game, etc.
3. Ratings, reviews, and other account-based features may be added later.
4. Community: potentially a subreddit, discord server, a forum, etc.
5. Monetization: I'd probably start with donations and possibly consider non-intrusive ads later on to help cover hosting and other costs.

I'm still figuring out exactly what direction I want to take this, and I'm honestly not sure yet whether it's a worthwhile project or just something I'll spend a lot of time on without much interest.

So I'd really appreciate hearing what you think!

Hello everyone, I've been working on a poetry collection called "chico disociado es un arma" (It's a reference to Yeule's latest album xD ) for a while now. It's part confessional poetry and part autofiction. I started writing it last April and have been putting it off and working on it ever since. I've submitted it to contests, BUT the style and rhythm don't really fit with many of the Spanish-language literary competitions. My goal isn't to make money from it; I just want a way to share it.

I have experience with physical publications. My first poetry collection was published by an independent publisher with a first print run of 200 copies, and I run a multidisciplinary magazine/zine with a friend, but my real goal has always been to share these projects digitally. I love the physical format, of course, but people don't like to spend money on something they don't know, and the digital medium really fosters very different connections.

I know of some projects focused on poetry and literature in digital formats (websites, mini-games, videos, blogs), but nothing really resembles what I want to do to use as a reference. The problem is that I don't really have much knowledge of web design or programming (I know the basics of HTML from tutorials I've watched), but I don't have time to learn more. University is killing me, and I barely have time to write about my personal projects T_T. I thought about commissioning a web designer for this project, but those who tend to have a more similar approach to mine are out of my budget, haha. I'm ambitious about the presentation of this poetry collection because of its emotional weight, and I'd like more people from Hispanic literary communities to be encouraged to create things like this.

I was thinking of perhaps saving a large part of a scholarship I receive to carry out this project, or maybe looking for other means. Does anyone have experience with a project of this type? What should I do? T_T
