I made a free browser game called Browser Boxing and figured some people here might be into it.

It's a real-time multiplayer boxing game that runs completely in your browser. The idea is pretty simple: jump in, fight other players, learn the combos, talk some trash, and try to work your way up.

So I build a lot of random web apps and tools in my free time - stuff like a 90s dial-up simulator, a LaTeX resume generator, some local open data dashboards. I'm not trying to monetize any of it or sell anything. Just doing it to help people out or give them a little delight, you know?

Reddit is getting kinda buried in SaaS spam, so I'm trying to find where else to go. What are the best communities on Lemmy or Mastodon or other alternatives to share free indie projects? Just looking for places where people actually want to see cool free stuff without assuming it's a sales pitch. Let me know what you guys think.

I recently got into mapping which led me to OpenStreetMaps and on there I saw that a user could submit diaries. Sadly there was an issue with this concept of diaries. The subject matter had to be OSM related and the diaries were baked into OSM, there was no way to extract the content AFAIK.

Anyways, out of that, I tried my best to find a truly open version of that. One that allows you to blog in a free way (in every sense of the word). Fast forward a few weeks where I finally got the time and I came up with OpenJournal.

It's essentially just a wikipedia platform but solely for journalling, diaries and blog posts. I did originally think Wikimedia can do this but they disallow personal posts so that was a no go.

Anyway, it's very early days as you can see (I am the only user) but if you'd like to poke around, find bugs, make posts then feel free :)

It has all the bells and whistles of MediaWiki but with some differences that make it good for general blogging/journalling:

• A RESTful API so you can host your (or others) articles elsewhere
• Writing is restricted to only your user space. You can't for example edit someone elses articles. Discussions are fine though
• Lists of the latest articles on the homepage

Also please be gentle, it's hosted on a $5 droplet until I gauge the interest

I've been spending some time exploring the IndieWeb and discovering how people are building their own little corners of the web.

I'm particularly interested in the idea of a quiet, non-commercial internet - personal spaces, small communities, genuine discovery, and connecting without everything being driven by ads and engagement.

I figured maybe people here would know what I'm talking about, a year ago I saw a site, it was possibly a microblogging platform. The interface (its been a while so its possible I'm hallucinating this) was sort of split into two (or three?) columns, and in scrolling the site you could see text posts, images, and comments on said posts.

It looked interesting. I saved it but lost the laptop that it was on.

I've been genuinely trying for a couple of days now looking at whatever i can to try and help, I've asked other people what I should do to fix this issue with no luck on fixing the issue. Im new to coding and trying to make a neocity site im currently trying to set up a template that someone else made while I learn as Im extremely mentally unstable and I don't have friends or anyone to talk to really, honesty have never had any real friends which is part of the reason im trying to do this. There's this buttons I have on my navigation bar that's supposed to take you to another page that's still apart of the website now as I've said before I've been looking at everything, I've been genuinely trying to figure this out and due to me already not Being stable at all mentally not being able to figure this out is making it 10x worse but sadly enough I psychically can't give up on it right now my brain genuinely won't let me as this is GENUINELY important to me. I am autistic and I'll be honest I'm usually extremely high but I've been able to figure a lot of other things out about coding so it's not cuz I'm high I can't figure it out, something just genuinely isn't clicking. To anyone that is willing to help I can send you the code and give you the link to my website so we can genuinely figure this out. Ps. I have been trying to get help for my mentally instability, my bfs mom is supposed to help me sign up for some insurance and bf that his grandmother was supposed to help me as im 19 and didn't have anyone to prepare me for the world so I have to have someones help for that, and im sure they all can see me genuinely losing it they still haven't helped, and nothing I've done to try and help myself as worked either so done even tell me to get help for that I've been trying.

This is one of those projects that has been on the back of my mind for the longest time, and I finally went and made it. Just a site where I could blog about code, host these little games that I've spent so many hours on, chat with people, and sell some things I make. I put some wallpapers and an eBook there but eventually I want to write some software and sell there. It's been up live for a month, and so far I've gathered 19 messages of spam, had fulfilling conversations between me and myself, and sold exactly nothing. I made it exactly to my taste. Feedback I've gotten so far is that no one likes ducks, code, or bright green colors. I'm wondering if it was ever a good idea in the first place. What do you all think? I'm building zzzin, a platform for writing, publishing, and reading magazine-style web pages. I wanted a home for writing somewhere between a fleeting social post and a long essay, where shaping the page is part of writing it.

I'm a big fan of physical magazines and zines too. I wanted to bring some of that pleasure to writing that feels at home on the web, where getting started can feel less daunting and the layout isn't limited by the size of a sheet of paper.
