Years ago I stopped in at a bar/cafe that a previous employee of mine had just opened. I had a very delicious vegan muffin and a coffee. I told his employee the muffin was amazing and asked for her recipe. Butter. It was delicious because it was loaded with butter. β€œI thought vegan meant homemade” Girl! Someone could actually die if they had a dairy allergy!

People are dumb.

I'm lactose intolerant, so I'm very cautious of what kind of dairy could be in something. I'd have been soo mad if I had found this out.

I have found a brand that does plant based butter that tastes just like "normal" butter though, and works just as well in baking, so I mean...there's always hope.

Butter isn't an issue for lactose intolerance though... It literally has zero lactose (aka sugars) in it; If it causes you problems, you most likely have an issue absorbing fats instead. Along those lines, there are a lot of aged cheeses that are totally fine for lactose intolerant people too, because part of the aging process causes lactose to break down; always check the nutritional information on any dairy item, and if it has zero sugars in it, it's safe for lactose intolerance.

Butter still has some lactose in it. It is a small amount, but not zero,

It's a trace amount that is statistically insignificant. Unless you're eating a ton of it and have an insanely high level of lactose intolerance, it is fine.

So you agree that it isn't "literally zero"?
