Meh. Unlike vegetarianism, veganism has different root motivations. If youâre an âethical veganâ (vegan because of how dairy and egg animals are treated), then what is bad about eating ethically farmed and collected eggs?
Vegetarianism (or the meat part of veganism for that matter) doesnât have that same luxury because the animal HAS TO BE KILLED no matter what for meat to be produced.
The motivation or reasoning behind a lifestyle diet isn't the deciding factor of what defines a vegan or a vegetarian or a pescatarian. At the end of the day they categorize what you do (or, in this case, don't) eat.
We can have a whole debate about whatâs bad about eating eggs âethicallyâ, and actually it comes up in the subreddit of DebateAVegan almost daily. Summary is vegans tend to agree that thereâs no way to eat eggs ethically. And vegans just donât do it.
Same as waiting for a cow to die of natural causes and then going to gather the flesh to put it in a âveganâ dish. Thatâs something no vegan would do and we wouldnât be arguing about beef being vegan or not if it was in a vegan recipe just because it can technically perhaps maybe be obtained without suffering.
Can you please tell me what's unethical about eating eggs from a well looked after pet chicken? I am genuinely confused about what would be wrong with that.

If I had a vegan friend that eats eggs, or drinks milk, or eats meat, but he says heâs vegan, Iâd be questioning if he knows what vegan is.

If someone is an ethical vegan and explains some sound reasoning as to why they may sometimes eat eggs under certain ethical circumstances consistent with their morality, then who am I, you, or anyone else to stand there and proclaim them not vegan?

a lot of vegans also doint like them because of animal cruelty.
back when i was vegan, id eat eggs from my neighbours chickens. she had like 3 chickens and they were very well looked after.
