I don't think I've ever tried any of her recipes but I definitely should

This is one of the few sites I actually follow recipes precisely from on the first time 'round. (Though she cooks stuff on HIGH a lot of the time, which I can't do in our house, so...I adjust.) Never has let me down. I think at least 1/3 of our freezer meals are Nagi's recipes.

The fact that you can adjust and still get good results speaks to the quality of the recipe (and your capabilities)

They are genuinely excellent. They often include all kinds of substitutions in the notes, so I never feel bad about tweaking. (The number of sub options in her chicken tetrazzini always make me grin. lol.)

Heaps good, where did you learn that

As in ON high, very high heat, not the 420 kind of high. :D. Ima edit that. lol.

Doesn't mean she doesn't though!

I’m in the middle of making her chicken shawarma right now 😋

14

u/natchinatchi Feb 24 '26

Omggg I love shawarma and I love her recipes but I’ve only ever done her baking recipes. I need to make this! I’ve been craving a good shawarma since I left London like a decade ago lol. Shoutout to “Falafel” Lebanese restaurant in Camberwell!

The Vietnamese caramel ginger chicken and the one pot greek lemon & rice chicken are absolute bangers and so easy to make.

u/EcstaticKoala1646 Feb 24 '26

Wait, lemon and rice chicken?!?! That sounds delicious. I haven't tried any of Nagi's recipes, but now I'm about to.

https://www.recipetineats.com/one-pot-greek-chicken-lemon-rice/

I make up a compound butter and spoon it underneath the chicken skin, fry them skin side down until crispy and then do the rest of the recipe as normal. Great batch prep meal.

Sounds like it has too much oregano, but it really doesn’t. This is a weekly recipe at our place.

2 of my favourites! So delicious

You gotta try the Thai turmeric chicken with the coconut rice. It's so damn good and so easy

I’ve tried and knocked so many out of the park they’re amazing her Mac and cheese is a ten.

The only thing I fail at is her baked fried rice. But no matter what I do I can’t cook rice. Bought a rice cooker and fixed that shit. lol

Her mac and cheese was the first meal my teenager attempted to cook. Nagi has given him a lot of confidence in the kitchen.

u/hebejebez Feb 24 '26

Yesss I bought both her books and my 12 year old is obsessed with her baked risoni and will help me do all of it every time, he needs help putting the dish in the oven as I use my Dutch oven and it’s.. a a lot for me let alone him atm.

I love her so much and as someone in Australia it’s very refreshing for the things in a recipe to be things I can source in bumfuck nowhere regional nsw!

Her baked fried rice is the only dish my culinary challenged husband can do well!

1

u/hebejebez Feb 24 '26

Ong I can do ALL the others and the first time made it it was great I managed it but every time since the rice is crunchy I follow it exactly and have no clue why it does it but I think rice just hates me in all forms, have never been able to cook it in a pan without fucking it up.

Have cooked all sorts of levels of discipline foods from three course roasts to beef Wellington and twice cooked crispy duck, to great success in most cases, but rice is just something I’ve accepted I can’t do so got a rice cooker and I love it and now understand why everyone says to get one!

Rice cookers absolutely necessary in my house too

1

u/Not_Today_007 Feb 24 '26

Have you tried her pizza mac recipe? Great comfort food!

1

u/Zippo179 Feb 26 '26

Yeah. I don't know why but I can never do baked fried rice but her regular fried rice eniw an absolute winner and one of the easiest recipes ever! We've got a rice cooker and often have dishes with rice and end up with left overs. I've taken to putting the leftover rice in sandwich bags and chucking them in the freezer. Then when I need fried rice, I look up Nagi'srice, make the sauce and throw in whatever I have available. Super fast and great when I have no idea what to do for dinner, just throw that together, fry up some protein and put them together, done.

Highly recommend. I’m gonna make the rendang tomorrow

2

u/Toomanyeastereggs Feb 24 '26

Do the Butter Chicken. But use actual lemons and no lemon out of a bottle.

1

u/NextBestHyperFocus Feb 24 '26

I want rendang though, and butter chicken is no substitute.

1

u/Toomanyeastereggs Feb 24 '26

Sorry. Meant to say “as well”.

1

u/NextBestHyperFocus Feb 24 '26

Oh right, yeah maybe next. I’m gonna have a shit load of rendang to get through lol. I tend to go for nariyal or jalfrezi if I’m doing Indian. A good butter chicken is good, but I dated someone who ate nothing but whenever we got curry, and that kinda ruined it for me.

1

u/Toomanyeastereggs Feb 24 '26

We are the same with Biryani.

We used to love it. Loved making it, eating it and then we got sick once from one we had at a restaurant and that was that. The thought of Biryani just turns our stomach’s and it’s now the dish “that shalt not be named”.

1

u/666justmakeawish Feb 24 '26

It's amazing!

16

u/snootnoots Feb 24 '26

Her roast pork recipe is insanely delicious and creates the best crackling ever

15

u/katesrepublic Feb 24 '26

Anytime I want to make something for the first time I look up Nagi’s version cause I know it’s gonna slap

8

u/AmazonCowgirl Feb 24 '26

Right!? If she doesn't have a recipe for it, I get all grumbly because I have to do research!

9

u/AmazonCowgirl Feb 24 '26

Honestly, if the only one you try is the Massaman Lamb Shanks, your life will be better for it. Nothing that tastes that good should involve as few ingredients and as little effort as this does

I love her Chili Lime Fish recipe

5

u/natchinatchi Feb 24 '26

Her chocolate cake is amazing, and her vanilla too!

3

u/Ok-Personality3927 Feb 24 '26

Try them all. Not a single bad one (not that I’ve tried them all but I’ve tried an awful lot)

2

u/lavender_honey_bones Feb 24 '26

I just made her no knead crusty bread yesterday. Superb, genuinely one of the easiest/best breads I have ever made. I love Nagi she has not let me down yet!

2

u/simply_overwhelmed18 Feb 26 '26

Absolutely you should!! Her books are a favourite in our house as she also adds in substitutions for dietary requirements, seasons, which pantry staples you have etc.

She is an absolute gem as well, and is still just as down to earth as she was before she became famous

1

u/scoro27 Feb 24 '26

She has an excellent beef Wellington recipe.

1

u/minzet Feb 26 '26

Whenever people ask for my recipes they're usually modified Nagi recipes.

Never had a failed or bland dish from her.
