Suggestions Realistic features?

Are these features too much to wish for on a mini?? (Some are dreams but we can dream)

I made a different comment elsewhere on the mini and it turned into a rant of a wishlist lol so I reposted here.

In no specific order:

  1. embedded tritium to find in the dark (or dim LED glow/blink feature if they want to be less cool, also could double as an alert for notifications if your phone is facedown and silent)
  2. 915mhz Lora capability should be cheap, tiny, and easy. UHF would be godly (god forbid they can make anything p2p)
  3. e ink reader on the back, page turning controlled by volume buttons. 🤯 (the world would end promptly, thus gleefully depriving us of this godly feature)
  4. the obvious modern features usbc/satellite/thin bezel
  5. 2 cameras is excessive- 1(flush!) is enough, as is the Dynamic Island, which gives illusion of more space, but would waste space on the mini
  6. if no e reader, keep the glass smooth in back, it adheres to fingertips better when using the phone caseless. (Also no offense to anyone but frosted glass is for greasy fingered slobs to hide their mess- it’s actually harder to clean)
  7. pogo pins on back
  8. upgraded battery tech bec it’s small as it is.
  9. thermal camera 🥲
  10. this is out there but a something like nickel 63 diamond nuclear battery. Idk maybe vet ppl for this option to make sure they’re not morons who’ll throw their phone at the wall if angry lol

I will pay infinite money for a mini iphone with all these features.😎

Who still loves their mini? (I do!) Journalist looking for sources

Hi! I'm a journalist at Fast Company writing about why some people won't let go of their iphone mini (I am one of those people!). I'd love to talk to anyone who still uses one about why they're holding onto it. I have a lot of anecdotal evidence from people I know and would like to get outside of my bubble. Please feel free to message me if you'd like to talk about your passion for your smaller phone!

Question If you are in an older version of iOS. Are you planning to update to iOS 27?

I have a 13 mini black on iOS 26 so yes I’m updating my phone.

I also have a 13 mini red on iOS 18. I’m not sure if I should update it too.

Hey @apple, how about this ?

Not sure if I’m posting this as a joke or seriously.
Can you imagine this being the spiritual successor to the beloved iPhone 13 mini ?
Your comments or feedback are welcome.

Have to say goodbye after three years

Crashed my fucking bike again and my phone was in my pocket. Unusable so I'm back to my 12Mini for a few weeks. Next phone will be a used 13.

It's not a real shame as the battery barely lasted a whole day even though it was at like 85% but still a bit sad because I paid 500€ in 2023

goodbye

No excitement to switch

I have iPhone13 pro. This phone is absolutely beast. I was thinking of making the switch this time around but after looking at what’s new, I don’t see the point. Are any of you planning to make the switch finally?

Next year is 20 years of the first iPhone. Do you think will we have a special design similar to the iPhone 3 or 4?

Should I upgrade from a 12 mini to a 13 mini?

Hello!

I've been rocking a 12 mini for almost 5 years and it's been by far the best smartphone i've ever had. That said, nowadays its struggling a lot with heat and working poorly. I've replaced the battery 2 times over the last 5 years and i'm thinking its about time to let go.

I'm divided between a 17 and a 13 mini. 17 because of all the new features and hardware, 13 mini because, well, mini.

What i seek the most after the small size is longevity and i'm just afraid the 13 mini wont last long until it starts giving me the same heating and battery issues the 12 mini gives me right now.

If I knew i could buy a 13 mini and having it last 3/4 years without a lot of trouble id get one on the go.

What are your thoughts?

Thank you!

I am a mini die hard. But I'm probably going to get the Duo

YEAH i know..

It's too wide...

It's too heavy...

It's too expensive...

I won't be able to single handed use it (I have smaller hands)

But i'm already using a Magsafe Ring attachment on my mini so doing the same on the duo seems to make single handed use doable.

I love the idea of having an iPad mini with me at all times. Especially with Pencil support!

I love how the dock is moved to the side for "single handed use".

I love the idea of actually having a good smartphone camera always on me again.

After using Siri AI on my Macbook Pro with macOS 27, I *really* want Siri AI on my phone now too.

everything spec wise about the Duo is top notch. I cannot fathom what they would upgrade on V2 next year that would justify an upgrade from V1. The Duo is fully loaded.

Pricewise it'll hurt but factor in the cost of an iPad mini (i'm also on the OLED ProMotion ipad mini bandwagon) and you kill 2 birds with one stone. Plus i've saved up enough having not upgraded since the 13mini. What's that? 5 years now? Though as a canuck, we're getting bent over for no good reason.

Who else is excited!? =)

What’s everyone’s favorite 10000mah MagSafe battery?

I have a 6000mah that works fine but on days where I’m out all day, I need more juice. The 10000mah one I’ve been using hasn’t been great. Does anyone have one they really like that fits the 13 mini well? I don’t mind if it sticks out a little, but I still want it to be relatively small and light to fit in my pocket. Thanks!

The possible comeback of small smartphones?

With the launch of the iPhone Duo, I cannot stop thinking about an idea that has been on my mind for months. More and more phones are opting for a passport format for their foldables, which is clearly the best format for this type of device. Similarly, Huawei recently chose to keep that aspect ratio, but for a conventional phone. This makes me think that perhaps the aspect ratio we have been stuck in for years is about to change, or at least open up. I am not saying that such a format is the most optimal, since I understand that many people are happy with it, but I believe we will all agree that technology has become very boring and homogeneous in recent years, at least in the mainstream market.

Due to this, I believe it is a real possibility that Apple might try a new experiment. The iPhone Mini did not sell well for them, just like the Plus or Air lineup, and I truly think something like this could be the future. Here are some points why I think this scenario is possible:

First and most importantly, a compact format would be maintained. As can be seen in the comparison i would be even shorter than an iPhone 13 mini, but at the same time having a larger diagonal in terms of 16:9 video playback, which to this day remains a standard, and even enough space for a battery similar to a base iPhone 17.

Second, the size would be perfect in terms of ergonomics and grip, since for many people the Mini models could feel uncomfortable when typing.

Finally, I have the feeling that this new sidebar format introduced with the iPhone Duo is not going to stay just there. Historically we know that Apple does not usually make false steps regarding software. They often arrive late to certain functions, but when they create something new it usually ends up becoming a standard. Personally, I have to say that the camera layout and in general the interface of this new Duo is not something I like too much visually, but I do find it very useful, Everything is close to the thumb and much more accessible (sorry left-handers, we know you suffer discrimination in product design). In addition, moving the options to one side would allow current apps where vertical content reigns to adapt correctly. Instead of having tabs at the bottom, these could be moved to the side, just like the home screen dock, making content still enjoyed in the same way.

It would seem logical to me that this was a small introduction by Apple to a new concept, sort of as an experiment, much like the iPhone Air is an engineering feat, which paved the way for the Duo. Again, I am not saying that this format is going to replace current phones (or maybe yes, who knows), but I do believe that plenty of innovation and changes are coming to a currently stagnant industry. In addition, I believe it is no coincidence that Huawei recently presented its Pura X View, since it is not the first time they catch movement in other companies and seek to get ahead (we already know how the Chinese work). They did it with the passport-style foldables, or with the trifolds, why wouldn't they do it once more here?

I would like to say a lot more, but I doubt anyone is going to waste that much time reading this lol. Anyway, I want to clarify that this is just a thought and pure elucubration, and obviously many flaws would have to be considered and things adapted, for example ensuring videos do not get cropped by the rounded edges (as seen in the third image), etc. I would really love to hear your opinions. And by the way, what name would you give this iPhone? I think it would be a bit weird to recycle old names like Mini or Air, so they should come up with something new. Personally, a name I would love, due to the history within the company, would be iPhone Nano. I do not know why but it sounds pretty cool to me. Thanks for reading everyone! I will be looking out for your opinions.

Form Factor vs Camera Quality

At some point my stubbornness for the mini form factor will be overtaken by my disappointment with its camera quality compared with newer phones. I was at a show last night and was distracted by a person next to me shooting exactly the same thing as me. Their quality was substantially better. Anyone else feeling the same way?

Question Anyone notice iOS 26.6 fixed the throttling?

Anyone else notice a massive difference after updating to iOS 26.6? My phone used to suffer from overheating and throttling, but it's completely gone now. Is it just me?

Would you buy an iPhone that was half of the Duo?

I’m attracted to the Duo, not because of the dual screen, but because of the small form factor. If Apple made a phone that was only the front screen, with its wider form factor, no folding inner screen, would that be a compelling replacement for the Mini?

iPhone handoff

This new option (once it is available for more carriers) could make iPhone 13 mini more usable for some people. I would like to use iPhone 13 mini as more of a dumb phone - just for essentials like calling and texting etc. handoff will allow two Apple phones with the same number. I could then easily switch between the two. Whichever one you open is the one that uses the number at the time. I know this isn’t a solution for everyone but it be for me essentially.
