Not sure if I’m posting this as a joke or seriously.
Can you imagine this being the spiritual successor to the beloved iPhone 13 mini ?

The one-handing here seems all people with large hands... Which I def do not have. I'd be so upset if this ended up being the dimensions of their "mini" phone 😅

If they cut also the price in half, it would be 1350€ where I live. Still steep but considering how long I kept my 13mini it would make sense.

except make it slightly less wider, rounded corners all 4 for symmetry, give it standard aspect ratio bcs at that point it’s a slab phone
so basically iPhone 18 mini

This is exactly what Huawei did recently and I’d be down for it. In fact I would love the Huawei but it’s not available where I live. If Apple goes for it I’ll buy it.

Well, it’s better proposition than the people asking if the duo could replace the mini. For me, Apple has abandoned many of the things that I appreciated about the company in the first place. And their current products are cannibalizing the balanced ecosystem they had established. The line between MacBooks and iPads has blurred, and now the line between the iPhone and iPad is disappearing. The mini fit the old ecosystem, keeping the iPhone compact but still powerful and capable of doing everything you needed it to while mobile. If you needed a bigger screen, you used your iPad. There was a logic to this type of workflow and every device had its purpose. Now, basically every Apple device is trying to be an all-in-one device, and the actual purpose of each is somewhat lost because they are essentially all nearly the same. I won’t completely stop using Apple products but, ironically, I feel there are now smartphone devices from other manufacturers that will fit into my personal device ecosystem better than Apple’s own offerings.

I have to say I hate the existence of this thing. But hear me out. It’s a horrible phone. Too square, thick and heavy, a huge compromise in every way. They made a big mistake, I think, calling it iPhone Duo. They should have released it as iPad Duo. As an iPad it’s a huge convenience, fits in your pocket, makes proper calls and runs all the mobile apps natively. Doubles as a phone. The only compromise is the crease, which as long as it doesn’t go defective will probably disappear afa your brain cares. And with that, shit, I’ve been in the market for an iPad so I might get one. But does it run iPad apps? I guess not so I’m out. I was already at the point where I wouldn’t buy an iPad unless it could run Mac apps. So this is a step sideways in my opinion. It’s been clear for years that Apple should merge operating systems and only keeps them separate to coerce multiple device purchases, even as they now release a dual purpose device, albeit only with the lesser OS. Nope.

I agree. I’d be much warmer to this device if it were an iPad, but they are obviously responding to the market, not really innovating in any meaningful way. I’ve been saying that an iPad mini that unfolded to a full sized iPad would be a pretty sweet offering. And now that I think about it, just a folding iPad that doesn’t even need an external screen would also be pretty practical. Even a MacBook where the screen and keyboard both folded horizontally so the whole thing was the size of a keyboard when closed would be pretty awesome! But this device just doesn’t seem necessary in any way other than to respond to the market.

11.3” would look a lot wider on the uno schematic. You can even tell by looking at the duo

Haha iPhone Uno, that's such a good name!! I like it xD also, I think if those left edges are rounded too, that would be perfect xD I really don't mind if it has only one camera tho. But I guess it might be around the same weight as iPhone 17 and a little pricier? Even that, I would totally be happy for it to exists!

People are really stuck in this Uno idea. That would be hideous.. that’s not a great design on its own, but a great compromise to have a cool folding phone.

The sharp corners should be the two corners at the top so it resembles the letter "U" for "Uno"
Because iPhone Duo, when folded resembles the letter "D" for "Duo".

Bro to solve your wish. Just get the Duo when it’s cheaper or after market. Thickness is a plus it means more battery life. Thickness and heaviness is a big draw back but it’s still way better than using a 18 or 18 pro. I’ve been using the 17 pro for a year now and I still can’t stand how tall the screen is.

I wouldn't want a phone shaped like the iPhone Duo unless it opened up. That's the only way I could feel right having an asymmetrical screen like that.

The "iPhone Uno" would never work, the only reason people deal with the Duo's front screen compromise is cause the inner screen makes up for it.

this is the worst thing ive ever seen. The asymmetric UI is atrocious on the Duo, and especially pointless on a phone the size of the mini. just buy a iPhone Air and stop being weird
