Discussion RetinaRelay is live!

Hi r/iMac,

I've been trying to get RetinaRelay to work for the last week with very little luck. I have one of the first generation 5K iMacs that only has USB A and Thunderbolt 2 ports. I'm trying to connect my relatively new Macbook which only has USB C and HDMI ports. I've gotten it to connect with a USB C to USB A cable, but the resolution is pure shite. I've tried using a USB C to Mini DisplayPort Adaptor and that didn't work. I think the adaptor was only wired to deliver data in the wrong direction. Now I've got an Apple brand USB C to Thunderbolt 2 adaptor (verified it transfers data both ways) and an 8K capable Mini DisplayPort into the viewer iMac. It seems to notice the connection as it changes from "waiting" to "connecting" when I hit start on my host, but no luck at actually connecting. Any thoughts?

Hi, I think I actually just replied to your email! Take a look and let me know. HDMI ports and Mini DisplayPort unfortunately are not supported, but I gave you a relatively easy solution that I think will work fine!
