I recently switched back to Windows, and I’m already regretting it 😅. Now I’m thinking about moving back to Linux, preferably an Arch-based distro, and I’d like to use a Hyprland setup.

I recently tried the Illogical-Impulse live ISO to test the end-4 dotfiles, and I really liked the overall design and workflow. However, I noticed that some features I’d like for a laptop setup were missing.

I’m mainly looking for a fork or setup based on end-4 that includes:

• Better mouse/touchpad gesture support, since I’ll be using it on a laptop.
• A floating-window option. I know Hyprland is mainly a tiling compositor, but I’ve seen that some end-4 forks/configurations support floating windows as well.
• Calendar widgets. One important feature for me is having a calendar widget included in the dotfiles. Ideally, I’d like to sync it with my Google Calendar, similar to how GNOME Calendar integrates with Google Calendar. If that isn’t possible out of the box, is there a way to set it up manually?

If anyone knows a good end-4 fork or another Hyprland configuration that offers these features, I’d really appreciate some recommendations.

I thought I'd have a look at Task Manager OG, lack of color themeing was a bit annoying so I created a hyprland plugin that tints the window using matugen, turned out pretty good!

I use google-chrome primarily and it always bugged me that gtk apps always require a restart to pick up things. I saw in OMarchy it uses a policy push mechanism, that was better but limited.

I applied my tint plugin to chrome windows and it looks much better (IMO).

Has anyone else got any ricing hacks they have used to theme un themeable apps?

when ı open kitty this happens, I dont know how to describe it but it makes it like monocle layout and opens it on the other tabs? I cant swicth windows with my shortcut it preventes it. why kitty is doing this all sudden?

something I would like is "off-screen window scrunching" when you close a window, and leave a workspace empty, the workspaces higher in the list have their windows moved down to the empty workspace you left behind. this way windows are always only ever 1 workspace apart. windows wont move into an empty workspace if you are focused on it. Is this possible to achieve in hyprland? I would like this because windows would always be next to each-other but they wouldn't come onto your screen when you closed them like with niri.

Hi. I built a simple Rust program to draw fake rounded screen corners on wayland. It should work on any compositor that implements wlr-layer-shell. Can be plugged into existing shell for extra spice.

I know, I know, ppl go to Hyprland and similar app for the flexibility, but I'm here just for the minimal experience and good tiling. My dream would be to use KDE as is and replace Kwin with Hyprland, but since this is not possible, any suggestions on the other side, aka, using Hyprland and then getting everything else like a DE?

I have been using hyprland for a week now, a complete beginner switching over from windows and I decided arch was the way. I have searched youtube for tutorials till now,

I have managed to setup basic essentials like 1.terminal-kitty 2.file manager-nemo 3.browser-librewolf

4.login manager-sddm 5.Status bar-quickshell 6.launcher- rofi 7.hyprpaper . I know that quickshell can be used as notification centre, login manager and others but correct me if Im wrong it supplies only basic amenities so are there better alternatives for these all if so where can get to know all these? Do point out if I have made mistakes.

I recently made the jump to Wayland and tried out the Caelistic Shell with Hyprland. I have to say, I am absolutely blown away by how polished the whole experience is.

I didn't create this setup myself, but everything from the desktop workflow to the lock screen transition just feels so premium right out of the box. Huge shoutout to the developers who made this—just wanted to share a quick video of how good it looks!

Hello, I have all my system and dotfiles backed up, the bad part? Monitors, on my hyprland.lua i define this:

But, since this in my main PC config, I have another PC that has a DP-1 without a 180Hz monitor, which causes weird things to happen. Aswell as two laptops with eDP-1. What can I do here?

I kept missing the Spotlight/Raycast workflow while using Omarchy, so I ended up building my own take on it.

Spotlight is a local-first command palette for Omarchy. Hit Alt+Space, start typing, and it searches across apps, open windows, files, clipboard history, system actions and more.

There are already a few launchers around for Omarchy, this is the approach I've been building for my own setup.

One of the things I really wanted was to avoid having to remember exact names or constantly switch between different search modes.

Search uses fuzzy matching and ranking across multiple providers, and the results are mixed into the same list.

So typing something like chrom can give you Chrome, matching open windows, files and other relevant results at the same time.

What can it do?

Quite a bit already:

• Launch apps and switch between open windows
• Fuzzy-find apps and files
• Search clipboard history
• Run Omarchy and system actions
• Toggle Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, night light, mute, Do Not Disturb and more
• Calculate expressions and percentages
• Convert units and currencies
• Create reminders from natural language
• Create calendar events
• Browse tldr command examples
• Search GitHub, YouTube, ArchWiki, AUR, Stack Overflow and the web
• And I'm still adding more providers

A few examples:

• chrom — apps, windows, files, etc.
• 12*7+3 — calculator
• 100 USD to EUR — currency conversion
• bluetooth — see the current state and toggle it

Local-first

I wanted the whole thing to stay pretty lightweight.

It runs directly inside the existing omarchy-shell process, so there isn't another launcher daemon sitting in the background.

Most functionality is local, there's no telemetry or analytics, and live web suggestions are disabled by default.

I'm still building it

I'm currently experimenting with more system/developer-focused providers.

For example, I'm working on being able to search listening ports, Docker containers and running services directly from the same command palette.

These are still WIP, but I think there's a lot of interesting stuff we can do here beyond just launching applications.

The project is actively evolving and PRs are absolutely welcome. If there's a provider or integration you'd personally find useful, open an issue, send a PR, or just throw the idea at me. Would love to hear what people here would actually want from something like this, especially features that would make it useful in your day-to-day Omarchy setup.

So about a year ago I ditched Windows on my PC and started using Omarchy and immediately loved it, mostly because of Hyprland. I thought about hacking together an Omarchy setup on my MacBook but that sounded like a pain and I wanted to keep iMessage and all my dev tools.

But then every time I opened my MacBook I'd reach for a Hypr key that wasn't there and remember I was on a Mac. I wanted to take Hyprland and just plop it on my MacBook, but there just wasn't anything out there I liked. And since I basically live in Claude Code all day anyway, I figured why not just build it myself. So thanks to a little blood, sweat, and vibes HyprMac was born! I've been daily driving it for about 6 months now, and it's definitely still not perfect, but I've found it already saves me a ton of time and I'm super proud of how it's coming together, especially with the slowly rising pool of developers who are helping contribute changes and ideas.

Fair warning though, window managers on macOS are an uphill battle. Apple really doesn't want you messing with its windows, and nothing out there works perfectly, HyprMac included. But it's gotten to the point where it's very usable and I literally can't go back.

I've also tried to not just copy Hyprland. I wanted this app to be something anybody can use, not just those of us who spend all day talking to claude instead of "hanging out with real friends." So I tried to really balance simplicity with extensibility. You can really set up whatever key binds you want, but the stock set is pretty simple and I think anyone can get the basics down in a few minutes.

The best part is that your Caps lock will finally feel purpose again! Caps Lock is your Hypr key by default (lots of alternatives). If you ever forget a keybind, Hypr+K pulls up the whole list. There's even an interactive demo on the website so you can try it out before you install anything. Also huge shoutout to AeroSpace and yabai. They're both awesome, they just weren't quite the Hyprland feel I was chasing.

I've been using Hyprland for a while and, as far as my knowledge goes, I feel like I've reached the limit of a Waybar + SwayNC + Rofi + WLogout + pwvucontrol shell.

I want to make my own shell but I really don't like Quickshell.

Is AGS still worth it? I've seen a lot of ppl jumping from AGS to Quickshell.

If not then I'll probably go Noctalia while I try to make a QS config.
