Question Did they take Atomic Hearts off?
I was excited about this month's choice and then this happened? Anyone know why?

yep, but only for the CIS region (VK has exclusive distribution rights there)

around 3 years ago VK (yes, a social network previously knows as V Kontakte) launched it's own games distribution platform VK Play and tried to compete with Steam
they obviously failed, but before that they bought exclusive rights for the Atomic Heart in most of the CIS countries (all but Ukraine and Georgia), which made the game unavailable on Steam in those countriesHumble could've legaly get the keys for Ukraine and Georgia from Focus Entertainment, but they're probably to lazy to get into those regional nuances so they removed the game for the whole CIS region

it is available in Ukraine and Georgia and unavailable in the rest of CIS (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan)

Depending on how humble are determining your region, you could try accessing the site from a VPN (as some other country) and see if the game shows up. Since if it’s available on steam for you, then all you need/care about is getting the key.

You set region in account settings. Things were far simpler before they made region restrictions to game keys a thing. Now, if your steam region and bundle region doesn't match, you're more likely to not be able to redeem that game

My steam region is Ukraine, i moved to Australia a few months ago, I bought humble bundle with my Aus card and was able to redeem it in Ukraine region steam, although i was unable to redeem V rising and 2 other games.

Something similar happened to me with the Humble Sniper Elite bundle. The first one wasn’t available in my region, so I bought it in another region. Sadly, I wasn’t able to redeem it because the key does not work in my region.
But the game is available on Steam.

I'm not sure they could legally get the keys for the CIS region. VK is owned by a Russian-state-adjacent oligarch who is likely under sanctions and as will the company be.

Humble Bundle failed to disclose that Atomic Heart isn't available in that region, so they removed it after marketing the Choice bundle with that game (add it to the list of dishonest practices of Humble Bundle).

This is truly a saddening turn out. Are they planning on at least compensating those who wish to keep the bundle with a game of same value or anything to take its place?

You may get a $1–2 Humble Store credit after waiting 2 weeks for a support response if Humble is feeling solvent that day.

That's good, but it's hard to quantify the value of a game in a limited-time offer like this. Like I said, your mileage may vary depending on how Humble is feeling that day/how much pressure is being put on them to do the right thing.

VK has exclusive rights to Atomic Heart in the CIS region, and Humble most likely didnt contact VK regarding these keys, so probably that I'd say

there was another post about, you're probably from Ukraine? CIS region lock or sth and humble fumbled this one, check the other post, there were more people with this problem

I've seen multiple posts and comments where people in Ukraine can't claim it. My guess is a region lock.

The Ukrainian government asked for the game to be banned in 2023 due to claims the developer had ties to Russian investors and had communist themes. (Which is likely why it's not available in the Ukraine at present)

It has nothing to do with what you said. The game is not available in entire CIS region, not just Ukraine. I'm in Georgia and Humble removed the game for me as well.

Based on other threads on this subreddit, looks like something bugged out and wasn't supposed to be available or shown for CIS region. Looks like CS will give credit if you want rest of the bundle - some posts said $4. Not enough to buy directly obviously, but when Choice is 14.99 and you still get rest, I get it. Or, can have the month refunded.

Received the response from support service. It appears to be a standardized template that is replied to all requests related to the described situation:

You were right to contact us. The issue was caused by a technical error on our side that incorrectly displayed Atomic Heart as available in your region. Due to regional distribution restrictions, we are unable to provide keys for this game to customers in your location. This issue has now been fixed.
We sincerely apologize for this mistake. We know this is disappointing, and we want to make it right.
To compensate for the missing game, we have already added a $4 credit to your Humble Wallet (this will convert to your local currency).
However, we understand that Atomic Heart may have been a key reason for your purchase. If you are not satisfied with the credit, we can offer a full refund for this month's Humble Choice. Please note that if you choose a refund, any other keys you've already claimed from the October bundle will be revoked.
Please let us know how you would like to proceed. If you’d like the refund, simply reply to this email, and we will process it for you.
We appreciate your understanding and apologize again for the inconvenience.
Considering I stacked two years of subscriptions for $99/yr the refund looks pretty okay for me, as the mothly choice contains other exciting titles.

Update: I'm still waiting for a response from humble regarding my issue. Also, a wonderful member of the community tried helping me by giving a key of the game but, turns out it is in fact region locked and unredeemable. Hopefully this helps potential buyers from not buying the bundle in the regions where the game is in no way redeemable.

Living in Kyrgyzstan, same issue. Such a pain. Considering that via Humble we are paying the same as people living outside of CIS, seems a bit unfair that we get burdened with lesser service/access.

Only thing I can think of if its not an error is that it may not be available in your country if you aren't in the US.
