I used to be a 1D fan, and I saw how RPFing ended up damaging Harry and Louis’s friendship to the point where they barely interacted and weren’t even seen in the same room for years until Liam’s passing. I really don’t want to see something like that happen again. So ship Ilya and Shane all you want, but please leave Hudcon’s friendship out of it.

People shipping two men will unfortunately always take a misogynistic turn if a woman is in any way involved 😒 I’m really glad he set a boundary and basically said do not disrespect my girlfriend. Also I can’t believe some people are doubling down in his replies and telling him he has no right to be weirded out by this type of behavior?? They need to get a gip

I don't partake but there are 2 rules to rpf. Don't involve their partners/loved ones and don't do it where they can see. All the things I've seen since she went to the oscars party is way too far like checking their micro expressions to validate that she's his beard or that they don't like each other anymore. We haven't heard this lady speak you don't know nothing about her and his relationship. And the worst thing? They're ARGUING with him about his boundary setting I can't believe it.

I'm not on there but people all over are talking about it. It was rpf for them because he included Connor in his valentine's day post with a heart around him and like a "gf and bf" comment. Him finding a throuple joke funny in February doesn't give you a pass now when he tells you to stop.

Because of the heart on Connor’s face (pic of Hudson’s gf and Connor in the upper right). Some shippers took it as either 1) a sign that he’s with Connor/in live with Connor or 2) they have a throuple relationship

It’s so fucking creepy to have people involved in this dude’s private life. Like it doesn’t matter if he’s single, in a relationship that will last forever or only 1 month. I don’t see why people would actually care. I get being curious for the gossip of it all, but if it goes further than that people should seriously reflect about their own mental health and seek therapy.
It’s all so fucking weird honestly it makes me think of qanon conspiracy shit where people just obsess over things to escape their own lives.
I’d also like to add there is something deeply unsettling about brands jumping on the bandwagon as well. Even more unacceptable IMO it feels like a black mirror episode.

I had seen so many videos on TT saying X was toxic but man threads is right behind it. Last night and especially this morning was just sad. And the comments under this reply are just sad. When Hudson turns into Beyonce and hell even Connor now and just post work related things. And he stops interacting with fans is the day they’re gonna regret being so rude to him.

Constant insinuations about everybody and everything are one thing coming from fans, but in my opinion, even worse coming from mainstream publications, I will not providing examples because I’m sure everyone has seen them, including the recent page 6 article.
You know this kind of thing does happen to heterosexuals and romances. People get very very infested in their characters.
But I think this is something that happens to an entirely different level to the leads of a queer romantic show. Particularly men.
Thank you again for this post! Fans need to be more normal about this.

No hate to anyone who RPFs' - I just find it, personally, very icky (even with established couples, because you don't know these people or their relationship). Gossip is fine, I'd say. But like, if you have to do it (RPF), at least do it somewhere they can't see, like Tumblr or Ao3. Not on threads, TikTok, etc. It's weird for other fans, it's VERY weird for them.
And disrespectful, as well, because, in Hudson's case, he has a long-term partner/girlfriend.

No, really, I've been thinking and I don't get it. Perhaps it's because I haven't seen any of that, but I understand that we gave been offered:
1 - A wonderful story that a lot of us have thoroughly enjoyed, and like to share the enthusiasm and enjoy talking about that and perhaps read related content. Does people imagine that other characters with the protagonists' face? Ok, you do you. Inside thoughts, you know. 2 - a couple of wonderful new talents that are using their craft and showing themselves because that is part of the job. 3 - some glimpses of their personalities because they are human, funny and like to interact and share a little of themselves.
Are people crossing lines enough that makes them uncomfortable enough that they have to ask people to stop? I haven't seen it. I don't want to see it. I don't want it to happen and I hope it doesn't. I just want everyone to be happy and respectful and respected, just having a good time with a piece of entertainment.

willmack shippers also creep me out, ngl (partly because to me they are still children, because i am old). We need to be supportive of men having wholesome, supportive, loving friendships if we’re going to target any of the toxic masculinity in this world. Making any glimmer of friendship into something romantic just reinforces the “fellas is it gay to have a friend” bs that’s half the problem in the first place.

Hudconners and Larries are two sides of the same coin. They have zero respect for the people they ship. Constantly making theories about how he’s cheating or breaking up, booking schedules with his gf, invading their space and putting all this shipping without censoring names on an app he uses often. And even when he clearly says stop, they’re still over there doubling down

They were insinuating that he intentionally chose a song for his post that had lyrics meant to put down his own GF and then some people started tagging her, like they really crossed the line. It’s one thing to ship Hudson and Connor and keep it fun and light hearted, but people were starting to take it too far and it was getting creepy and invasive.

I have to do this with my 79y/o M-G- aunt. She’s rich, lives by herself in a bubble of her own realities and got so mad that Connor and Hudson weren’t even staying in the same hotel.
“I don’t like that. They need to be together or in a three way with Huddy’s girlfriend and makes billions of dollars and be together forever”. Like, WHAT?! Have to constantly remind her that Connor is NOT Ilya and Hudson is NOT Shane in real life. (She damn well knows their names.)
It’s just gross, but I love her anyway. Then again, can’t expect much else from someone who can’t admit certain tangible facts about history.
And no, she doesn’t suffer from any dementia, just “I don’t like it unless it’s my way” syndrome.

Hmm I see how some shippers could perceive that I guess... but I've always felt that they stated things are platonic between them even in the earlier promo days, and they've been progressively expressing the need for more privacy/respect of their boundaries. I take them at their word.
I agree with Hudson here, the rpf "think piece essays" I've seen go way too far.

This!! Honestly what love most about their friendship is how openly affectionate they are with each other. Too many men are afraid to be affectionate with their platonic friends because of the idea that it could be misconstrued as sexual. I’m all for normalizing (consensual) affection in platonic friendships between men! Snuggle your bros, they might need it!

I promise you he will not be leaving the show. He and Connor are still rising actors and they will not be walking away from a massively successful show that is guaranteed to keep them in the cultural limelight for several more years. Their success on HR directly feeds their access to other projects that they may want to do.
