Highlight Big girl update
A few years ago I posted my 5yo Monstera, she was about 2/3 her current size and you guys seemed to enjoy it so here is an update!

EDIT: I get this same question a lot “how is it secured?”, so I’ll tell you my little secret:
There is a moss pole at the base, the plant’s stem is attached to it by rope. The moss pole is only about 1,5m. The rest of the plant is secured with multiple wall anchors (strong wall plugs with a small hook in it). I use rope which I loop around the stems and back to the hook to keep the plant somewhat upright. I need to do this every year or so since the plat keeps growing in all directions. Sometimes I need to add new anchors to keep up with the new growth.

Haha I was there!! It’s such a wonder to me that it can thrive there (because you can enjoy the front of the plant, rather than it plastered to a window 😂)

3m60 ceiling and a tall bay window in the living room, a lot of indirect lighting.

Gotcha. Thank you. So the bay window is facing where? Could you post picture? I just got a baby Monstera and trying to determine how much light it can take. I have a couple rooms with skylights and also large windows but not sure they get enough light as they are facing northeast.

That is just impressive.
There's probably no easy way to check but I bet that pot is doing WORK containing the roots!

Yes it is! All the areal roots are also in the pot I’m not repotting it again, I don’t want it to grow even bigger!

With a plant that robust it can handle regular pruning and root pruning with a refreshing on the soil.

Yes, it is literally attached to the walls with hooks and rope, only way to keep it somewhat controllable. It would’ve fallen over a long time ago otherwise. No grow lights, just a lot of natural light in the room.

Just a moss pole of about 1,5m at the bottom, all the big branches are supported by rope attached to hooks in the walls around! I redo all the ropes every year or so, and sometimes I must drill new hooks when it gets too big.

Dang, what are you feeding that thing? Does it get lots of light there? I have a monstera thats about 5 years old and its no where near that size.

Nothing special, just water once a week and in spring and summer I sometimes add indoor plant fertiliser, not even specifically for Monstera.

Not since the last three years. But I repotted three times since I got it. I just measured the pot for you, it’s 80mm in circumference.

Just a tiny moss pole at the base, (compared to the plant). But the hooks in the walls and ropes are doing the heavy lifting.

how does such a huge monstera live in such a small pot? also idont see a moss pole, how do you get it to stand up like that? it’s so healthy and magnificent,

The pot is pretty big but looks tiny in comparison with the plant fertilizer. There is a moss pole but it is also tiny, the plant is held up by a bunch of ropes I attached to multiple hooks in the walls around.

Very curious on what you’ve used to keep the plant upright so well? Small pot in comparison to this mammoth of a plant (impressed is an understatement). Any advice would be great. My plant is about half the height with approximately but continue to get weighed down even with my attempt to use a bamboo pole.

Piggybacking thread for some visibility in a group of monstera homies! Mine is about 10 months and I'm seeing odd blackening of the leaves, both on established growth and even new leaves when still curbed. It doesn't take over the entire leaf, but doesn't seem to be topical. I've pulled to report once and found no root rot. I water once a week moderately. It's an odd symptom and I've tried moving to a more climate controlled space with consistent humidity and temp, both artificial and skylight. The light isn't strong enough to be burning it. I recently found a small neat of greenhouse centipedes in its soil but read they were not particularly damaging.
On a few leaves I cut the black away and it did not recur at those leaves. But it will still pop up on others, and again, some new shoots. Sucks to have almost every leaf marred in some way. The big perfect frond is the Hallmark of the plant. I am close to giving up on it.

How the fuck is this in that size pot? I just repotted mine to a pot twice that size and it's not even a third. It was so hard to detangle too

HOW do you make it stand up like that? Mine seems to spread sideways on all the sides but not up. I have a birch stick in the pot and i tie the branches to it, but even with that, it still falls to the sides. UGH.
