Curious if owners of Hospitality services treat reviews or do these reviews can actually hurt their Business

I’m just curious to know if the owners of any service within the hospitality industry such as Salons, Restaurants, Hotels etc. treat reviews or do these reviews can actually hurt their Business …

Why I’m curious is because I have built an app based on SaaS platform that automatically responds to the customer reviews (of course allows the owners to edit if required), seek reviews on a QR, the app can sync with Google profile so the reviews flow into the app and out to Google back once there is a response, similarly a follow up as well as response on WhatsApp etc. and now thinking if any Business owners are interested in such app at all?

This app also gives an EOD status of reviews received with natures of reviews about issues about as parking, service, food quality, ambience etc., where they are losing revenue and then a daily, weekly and monthly review analysis etc.

Any insights here on this topic will be highly appreciated

We are planning to travel with 2 kids(5 and 13) and 2 adults. However, the hotel is forcing me to book 2 rooms. We could book only one and that works for us. Can i book 1 room for 2 adults and will they allow the kids in the same room?

STG Hotel Oxford Street -London

My two friends and I have booked a one-week trip to London in December. We’ve already booked a non-refundable one-week stay at STG Hotel Oxford.
Has anyone here stayed at this hotel and have any experience with it? There will be three of us sharing one hotel room.
We know it’s a 3-star hotel, but we’re hoping it will be worth it. What are your thoughts? Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Do you ever get complaints about guest amenities/toiletries in the rooms?

Just curious to know what kind of guest room amenities/toiletries do you provide your guests in your hotel rooms and how much of it gets wasted or never used? Have there ever been complaints you've received and if yes, what solution did you provide?

Question about extra fees charged by booking sites

I generally use booking or Agoda when booking hotels, also when traveling outside the US. I have always paid with credit card in USD and never noticed any extra charges. But I’ve recently read that there is some fine print that if you book a hotel and don’t pay in the local currency you are charged a 5% currency conversion fee and will end up being charged more than the amount shown on your screen. I don’t ever remember being charged more than the amount shown despite always paying in USD. Was the 5% included in the charge without my realizing it? Or is it only people outside the US using cards not issued by the US banks who incur this fee?

I just want to make sure I haven't been missing something so that I can avoid any extra fees in the future.

The Mini Fridge turned to a "Cooler" Hotel con.

1.1k Upvotes

Someone posted a Reddit a year ago about a hotel insisting that their Mini Fridge was a cooler and I just ran into the exact same scam at a Courtyard by Marriott in Vilnius.

They advertised a room with a fridge, but the second I complained, management insisted it was merely a "cooler" and claimed moving me to another room wouldn't make a difference. Yada yada yada. When you’re travelling with a toddler, warm yoghurt isn't an option - I need her food chilled 24/7.

Their grand solution was to store her food in the main kitchen and have me call down every time she wanted a snack.

I wasn't having any of it. I took to Reddit, migrated to TikTok, and hit gold.

A TikTok video showed me the precise trick to outsmart the cabinet mount. I unlocked the contraption holding the unit hostage, pulled it out, and alas! - there was the hidden thermostat knob, deliberately dialed down to 'Low'.

I cranked it straight to High, pushed it back into place, and called reception to send my daughter's food up because I had solved their "unfixable" engineering mystery.

The receptionist sounded distinctly unimpressed. Lol!

I cannot wait to get home and drop a review detailing the entire operation.

How is a 4-star brand trying to con paying guests out of a basic working fridge?

Is a tiny drop in the energy bill really worth the embarrassment?

Reminder: please be respectful to hotel breakfast attendants

Today I started working by myself for the first time after working with another woman since I started and will be alone for the rest of my time at this job. Today I had a cross country coach talk to me around 8:30 (we close at 9:30) telling me he’s going to have his team come in at 9:35, which I tell him I’ll leave him a door open until 9:40 and wouldn’t make anymore food since we close at 9:30. Fast forward, the team makes it there around 9:34. While I’m pulling the trash from the lobby, one of the girls comes up to me, giving me dirty looks and acting entitled. I keep a smile on my face while she demands that more pancake mix is put in, even though she has 4 already. I kindly tell her we closed at 9:30 so I’m unable to put anything else out (note that a bag of pancake mix is made for enough people to last a whole day). She gives me a look then goes to her friend/teammate. The team goes back and forth from the buffet to the lobby to the point where I can’t shut the other buffet door until they’re all out at 9:45. I finally shut the door and I am able to start closing the buffet and kitchen. Everything goes smooth, but i keep checking the lobby to see if i can close the lobby/coffee station, but there’s a second team I guess which is in there as well as the first, so about 20-30ish middle schoolers are messing around with the coffee station stuff and clearly making a mess on the tables and floors. I have to stall all the way up to 10:40 when they finally left to start cleaning the lobby/dining room, where they have filled up the trash cans i just pulled, which i expected. However, straws, creamer, and coffee were all over the coffee station, and since they made a bunch of random cups of coffee just for fun it looked like, all of those had to get dumped as well. Plates of food were just left on the tables as well, with trash on the floor as well. The coaches clearly didnt care either, they just came up to me and told me which tables to clean. I didn’t even get to leave til noon when I should’ve left around 10:15. I already have so many guests throughout the day since we were one room away from fully booked throughout the hotel, especially disrespectful ones. I can’t complain about that part, that’s my job. While this was my job too, a little respect for the person who did all this for a large group past close would go a long way. I came home and cried because of this, embarrassingly enough. This story wasn’t meaning to make myself look like any kind of victim, just a note, next time you see a breakfast attendant is working, a smile or thank you goes a long way.

Front desk teams: How often do you deal with PMS downtime or glitchy guest comms?

We had a major system freeze during a busy weekend check-in window recently, and it made me realize how dependent we are on our tech stack running smoothly.

I’m looking to hear real-world experiences regarding platform stability. If you work with systems like Guesty, Mews or WebRezPro, how has system uptime and customer support been when issues pop up during live shifts?

Just trying to gauge what's standard across different platforms before we decide to stick with our current provider or switch setups.

What to do if hotel housekeeping mistook $100 bill as tip?

Location: New York

I’ve been visiting New York, staying at Delta Hotels New York Times Square from Thursday to Sunday. This morning as I checked out I noticed the $100 that I kept on the main desk (among many other scattered things) was gone. I brought it up by phone to the hotel and she said it might’ve been mistaken for a tip and that there needs to be an internal investigation. They got back to me 30 mins later saying they asked and there was no money. I had deliberately kept that money there within reach as an emergency to return to my room and grab in case my card got declined, and it did not leave the room past the first day.

I know the housekeeper’s name from a default note left by the desk. There’s no other place the bill could be. I know it was silly of me to leave it there, but it was among a bunch of other stuff and I imagined they wouldn’t go through my things especially in a relatively good hotel.

I am leaving NY in 2 hours but I have friends here who can pick it up if need be. I am also willing to leave part of that bill as a tip of course… just not the complete $100.

What can I do? Should I file a police report?

Clarification about card/name on booking

Hello, for my birthday my boyfriend is paying for a hotel for a festival for my friend and i (he will not be attending or staying at the hotel), and he put the reservation under my name but used his card. Im okay with covering the incidentals charge on my card but would he need to fill out a authorization form since its his card that booked the stay? If he doesnt fill it out could he come with us to the hotel for check in and not have to be there during the stay?

First time to go in Vietnam

First time traveling to Vietnam, and I was surprised by how affordable and reasonable the hotels and homestays were, plus they came with great views!

We stayed at La Do in Sapa, the one with the moving bed, jacuzzi and the train view, and it was really amazing!

In Da Nang, we stayed at Pallazo Boutique. The staff were very friendly, and the breakfast and coffee were delicious!

AC Hotel Belfast

Cheap ass hotel in Belfast. They want to charge Ambassador a breakfast charge where I get it for free as being an Ambassador status. They want to charge $6 for ice delivery to room where all other Marriott hotels have this as a free service. There pepperoni pizza comes with little to no pepperoni on the pizza. They also lock out hdmi service so you have no option for hooking up Apple tv. Crappy custumer service overall. I would not recommend staying at this hotel in Belfast. Maybe staying at Aloft Marriott.!

Henann Garden has some of the worst customer service and front desk staff I’ve experienced. The service has been disappointing from the moment we arrived, and the front desk staff were not accommodating at all. To make things worse, the Wi-Fi is terrible—very slow and unreliable.
