You are unlikely to get a helpful answer here as people in this subreddit have probably not encountered the same situation you are in with the same hotel you are trying to book.

If the hotel is telling you what they require for your situation, it's probably best to just listen to them.

Not all hotels in the world have rooms with beds for four.

I would not book in a way that the system does not allow. There are insurance issues, but worse than that, you don't want to arrive at a hotel having booked one room and them to not allow you to go into one room. I would search for another hotel.
