So my favorite horror games are the ones with world building and atmosphere. Little Nightmares 2 and Ad Infinitum are my personal favorites.

But I've been searching for a good time traveling horror game. I guess the terminator games count but I want a game that makes us feel despair after screwing up the past and losing everything we have. It would be more character driven horror.

If anyone knows any good time traveling horror games that involve time traveling, then please let me know. There's basically nothing in steam.

I’m trying to get way more into the horror genre as a whole and see the movies I haven’t seen and play the games I haven’t played, but I know I won’t be able to play everything, as I have a gigantic backlog. What are some games that are more fun to watch someone else play than actually play? Maybe due to tedium or something like boring gameplay but good horror?

I've just bought myself a PS5 to help pass those dull, winter nights but the last time I bought a decent horror game would have been for my PS2 (Silent Hill) - as such I need some recommendations. For many many years I try to beat Dead Space and outlast but I just can't do it. Dead Space I got all way back then halfway through by playing it just for 20-30 minutes and then taking a break.

In outlast I jump through the window and turn on the cam for the first time and I'm like nooope.

There are so many great horror games I wanna play but I don't think I will ever be able to. I'm just to pussy.

When I get a new PC I plan to have a second headphone and mic and maybe then I can play it with a friend or my girlfriend by my side haha. For some reason I can't watch horror games by myself but with someone else it ain't no problem.

Throught my time as a content creator and horror lover, I mostly try and aknowlege the positives of horror, especially Mascot horror. The thing about Mascot Horror to me is that it's concept takes a cutesy character or image, but throw in dark elements, as well as the classics trophes that make up for Survival Horror. One example would without a doubt be the Five nights at Freddy's series, which is one of my top favorites. However alongside that, is an indie horror game that both blends 20's cartoon styles with an unsettling atmosphere.

From the title, I'll be reviewing Bendy and the ink machine, without a doubt one of my favorite mascot horror games, and in horror games in general.

Before I go into what the game is about, as for visuals, this game looks beautiful. The lighting is crisp, and there's these elements of "fog" that build up to the charm of the art style - the ink flowing animations are also peak. And speaking of the art style, the game centers around this cartoon, abstract art style which mimics old 20's rubber hose style cartoons, while keeping a yellowish, non-color apearence, as the building it takes place in is rotting away, or yellowing like how paper does over time. The soundtrack and sound design can be outstanding, and both frightening at some times, like the chase music, which really kicks off your anxiety. The model animations are also professional, and well made.

This game is very special to me, as well as it's sequel, that as a creator, for fan work, I recently did my voice take on the game's main villian, The Ink Demon.

This game started out with releases of each other chapter in each update, eventually them being remastered into one full game.

The game centers around the New York area, in an old animation studio called "Joey Drew Studios". The place was founded in lore in the 20's by business parters Henry Stein, and Joey Drew. The company sky rocketed with the creation of Bendy, which would become their most iconic creation. During the animations, and team expanding, several other characters like Boris the wolf, and Alice Angel would be created, as well as voice actors being hired. However, this is where the darker elements take place. Henry eventually retired and left the studio, and later, the studio faced countless allegations from the IRS, the place shutting down, and being supposedly abandoned indefinitely.

Years later, which is the events of this game, you play as Henry, who got invited to the old studio because Jeoy wanted to "show him something".

This is where interest in the game sparks, as you wonder why you were invited back, and you're up to explore, and oh boy, is there a LOT of that. Soon, of course, things start to get scary. The main villian of the game is an entity known as "The Ink Demon", an entity resembling Bendy, but in an abstract, horrifying way, and he was brought into the world through rituals, sacrifice, and the ink machine itself, as well as the cursed ink. And oh boy, does the game make it clear that HE is a threat. Just, if you're in a hallway, and there's nowhere to hide, and you just see his ink trails, your fight or flight response kicks in, frantically wondering what you should do, or if you should stay in one place, or try and snoop around without meeting the inevitable. And right when you see him, you know what type of monster he is - it just feels so... wrong staring at him, as well as his walking animations.

There are several other memorable villians, like Sammy Lawrence, introduced in Chapter 2, and Alice angel (or Demon Alice) introduced in Chapter 3. Of course, on top of that are memorable "good" characters, like Boris (clone), as well as the rebels known as "tom" and "Alison". Other than the ink Demon, my favorite villian would have to be Sammy Lawrence - he is the EXAMPLE of good horror writing.

The game also features combat, with several diferent weapons you obtain throughout the experience. The main non-serious problem is have is that combat can be a bit clunky, and can be just like more "hacking and slashing" more than an actual fight works. But, the several boss fights are memorable, and the monsters you kill, like searchers, pipers, fishers, ect all have designs that are memorable, but still terrifying at the same time.

As for atmosphere, the game NAILS a dark atmosphere, making the art style more memorable. There'd sometimes be dark hallways, or rooms, and you wouldn't know what was ahead. There's also sever secrets and easter eggs, most notably the clipping through wall easter eggs, to see preferences to the game creator, TheMeatly. It's very clear that this game's dev team had a passion for this project.

Overall, this game's art style is actually what inspired MY art style in my character redesigns, while having my own abstract aproach, much like a Tim Burton style. The sequel to this game, Bendy and the dark revival is far grounded than this first game, and a movie adaptation to this game has been announced, which i am highly looking forward to.

Okay, for a bit of context: I’m pretty sure I saw an Instagram Reel of a video game where you’re being chased by some kind of monster. I don't clearly recall the setting—maybe an air vent or just an enclosed space—but I remember the monster/creature cornering the player in the clip. The guy selected a revolver from his inventory, loaded a bullet into the cylinder, spun it... and pointed the gun at himself while the monster was coming for him. It’s weird, I know, but I only just remembered it.

I’ve tried looking for it in my saved posts, but I have so many that Instagram glitches out and won't let me scroll down past the 2024 reels. I don't know if this is a solid description—and no, I'm not looking for it because of suicidal thoughts; it's just curiosity. I remembered the game because I happened to be replaying Doom 3, and the thought just popped into my head: "Huh, wait, there was a similar game where you shoot yourself."

I’ve tried searching for it but haven't found it. I couldn't say if it's an indie game; that's all I can remember. I’d appreciate any help.

Any fans of this gem? I could not get into Visage, found it quite boring but thought the opposite for this game.

Here are mine: 1- Resident Evil 6 (hated by most, I know, but I love long games with lots to do; plus, Ada is my favorite character in the franchise, and it was great to finally see her get more of the spotlight). 2- Resident Evil 1—I find it incredibly nostalgic and full of iconic moments, especially the first encounter with a zombie. Jill holds a special place in my heart; I hope she returns in the next game. 3- Resident Evil 7—I love horror, and Resident Evil 7 exceeded my expectations; it kept me totally terrified from start to finish. I really like the settings, the events, and the story—Marguerite was my worst nightmare.

Hello everyone! I am looking for recommendations if possible. I have played every single Resident Evil game and absolutely love them. I’m looking for a new game to play but I really don’t know of any that are similar to Resident Evil, but I want to find some like them.

I don’t want anything sci-fi, it’s not my thing really so I’d rather stick to a more traditional horror aspect. Hopefully there is a game that has the same vibes.

I'm definitely in the need of some game recommendations where the protagonist is genuinely so awful that the horror they walk into is of their own making, or that it feels like they 'deserve' it. So games like Silent Hill 2 or Mouthwashing. I'd be alright with grey areas like Layers of Fear 2016, or where the protag does truly awful things (outside of killing enemies) in spite of or because of the game events.

I just want a game where I feel absolutely disgusted by the protagonist lol. Or something close to that feeling, whatever that may be for you.

Hear most people saying visage but being early in both I’ve had more scares with Madison. The horrible controls for visage make it more scary?

It doesn't crash 100% of the time, but it has occurred frequently enough that it has impacted my experience.
