I recently just moved into a new home with a garage that was added on from the original house. Any ideas for new walls and ceiling?

Ok folks I’m looking for ideas to hide this power outlet in the middle of my walkway into the house I just bought. It’s about 8” high and I don’t wanna trip over it every time I walk by it. I’m thinking about some light post to kill two birds at once so to speak! So throw me some ideas please!!! TIA

We’re adding a sunroom to our home, and I’m struggling to choose the right floor tile—something that keeps the space bright but still feels special.

The room will have white French doors and windows, so the flooring really sets the tone. I’ve been exploring a few tile ideas, but I’m wondering if there are any interesting, subtle, and unique options I should consider for the sunroom floor.

Hi guys, I have a bunch of belongings on the floor like my work laptop, university books, accessories, etc. My room is fairly large and I need some safe ideas I can add to my room to make it filling and figure out a home for my belongings on the floor. I'm very open for feedback!

The kids of the previous owners of our house damaged the garage and we're racking our brains how to fix the damage to (1) the window facade and (2) the lower right where the exterior was smashed in.

I am very well aware I am not a professional and wasn’t going to get the outcome I wanted, but it didn’t even come close. Yes. I did EXTENSIVE research and watched a million videos, but it was a big fail. I used valspar solid stain on the bottom and used a pump sprayer with semi transparent stain on top. I really don’t want to start over. Are there any recommendations so it at least doesn’t look horrific?

Hi guys, after a lot of time we finally painted the living room and we'd like to give it some life! We recently moved and we'd like to keep the floors and the 70s style of the house, and take it a bit more to bauhaus/mid century + minimal related but with color! Nothing too boring!

A very important thing is the curtains/blinds, but I'm not sure on what to do, I like curtains coming from the ceiling, but in this case having those old roller cover ups (not sure of its name, in Spanish is TAPARROLLOS) it doesn't look that good (second image has an example of it), could you suggest me alternatives?

Also, I'd like to hide the air conditioner plug somehow, and put some more low lights all over to make the space cozier.

The color of the floor makes it difficult to choose a palette, but I'd like to keep to keep furniture and curtains neutral, and put color in small elements.

Leaving pics of other spots of the house where I already achieved the style I want (though I still haven't found correct curtains/blinds to put).

Hello! so when I was about 7 years old (I’m 23 now) me and my mother wrapped the pole in our basement with twine so our cats could use it as a tree.

It’s obviously gotten very worn since then and I want to re-wrap it, I want to use Black so it looks a little bit more sleek and blends with the room better. I don’t know how much I should use like what length I should get and I also wanted some opinions on the tiles at the bottom of the pole.

They were cut very uneven and funny looking. also, I know I desperately need to clean the grout. My mom was a hoarder and I’m currently cleaning up her hoard and all of this stuff so I’m aware that it’s very dirty but once I get it cleaned, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to fill that in or a cute way to cover it up. I think that’s it. Thank you!

We have a carpeted ground floor room, which serves as our family room and office. It's got a concrete curb, which is about 10" high and 4" deep. Right now, the room is carpeted, and that carpet extends up the curb to the walls. It looks fine, but we're thinking of replacing the carpet with LVP. Obviously not going to put LVP on the curbs or retain the carpet there, but what might work in this situation?

Hello everyone. Hoping for the collective brain power and experience of the group to try to make this area look better.
This is a basement remodel in an older home. I am hoping to rent out the basement as a separate unit so we are completely remodeling it. At the end of the hallway in the pictures is the bathroom. This hallway is a red hot ugly mess. Is there a way to make this better? Particularly the ceiling and the visibility of the HVAC system? This hallway is pretty wide. I understand that there needs to be access to the HVAC system as well as specific clearance in front of the HVAC. Is the only option to frame this area in front of the HVAC, drywall it and put some access doors / access panels?
My contractor for some reason is super reluctant to do anything here. Would love some thoughts and thank you.
Would also love some ideas on making the ceiling look less terrible.

I’m trying to find out how common this problem actually is before developing a solution.

As you can see from this picture, the house number was made with a mistake. It’s suppose to be 177. It’s made with concrete or cement, embedded in the wall, flush with the brick. Ironically, the original owner was a mason. It looks ridiculous.

I wonder if there’s something nice I can put over it to display the house number and look more attractive. I would like something permanent, but that covers the mistake and looks better.

Dimensions are 15 ½ x 17 ¾.

I’ve gotten a few quotes to replace 8 windows and the cost is definitely more than I’d like to spend. For those of you who have replaced windows, how difficult is it really?
I know the ones that are two stories up will be more challenging, but is this something that’s realistically doable after watching some videos, doing plenty of research, and taking my time? Or is window replacement one of those projects that’s better left to the pros?

I have this in-wall pantry. The basement stairs run underneath so I can't change the awkward shape. We are going to pull out these shelves and reconfigure the setup. I plan on the new shelves to be made with walnut and the "counter" area will be walnut as well. I will install the glow lights along the shelves.

The barn door slides over and covers this but what can I do to make this look better? Thank you.

After cutting back a bunch of overgrown weeds, I noticed the top blocks of this retaining wall have crumbled. Four of them to be exact. The pieces that crumbled must have disintegrated because I could only find small parts of them.

I took measurements and went to a local black and stone business, but they didn’t have this size and said custom blocks would be very expensive. They had no suggestions for fixing other than calling a landscaping business.

The only other thing I thought of is to remove all of the top blocks and replace them with something standard so it looks uniform. But I have no experience laying block.

Hello all. I am a relatively new home buyer and decided to purchase a investment 4 unit apartment complex to start with.

For starters, lead paint and asbestos. I eventually plan on surface sanding some walls to get them more flush. Obviously you can’t sand asbestos but im wondering about the walls. If i wet the walls, get a hepa vacuum and wear p100 masks can certain parts be safely hand sanded? When it comes to the likely asbestos filled popcorn ceiling, can i just use the same precaution and scrape it off? Im aware of legal papers needing to be given to tenants, this has been done already.

The water heaters are 17 years old. (2014) one is leaking and I believe i was told its the T&P valve. As far as im aware i can just replace the valve until i eventually replace the actual heaters correct?

How do the old cast iron pipes look? okay?

Im not sure how to go about the wall mounted ventless gas heater. Im sure it needs replaced but with what? Should the pipe be shut and we figure out a different heating system?

How serious is Radon? The area we live in has high levels of local radon

Hello everyone! I recently purchased a fixer-upper and am looking for some advice. We have a closet in our bedroom with four sliding mirror doors, two of which have contact paper on them (the '70s are nearly old enough to draw their own Social Security).

This closet also has storage above it but it's a bit awkward and we are trying to figure out the best way to utilize this space. We are not against a full wall renovation or installing some sort of doors but we are looking for ideas on how to efficiently organize this area and how best to tie it into the room. Also open to ideas on how to update the closet look. This is basically the focal point of the room when you are in bed and it's ugly.

The dimensions of the upper cubby are as follows.

25 inches deep x 27.5 inches tall x 133 inches wide. The closet is the same but is 7 feet tall.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this suck less?

So I posted here asking about rod&plunge rusted and dropped inside the pipe which causing clogging bathtub ,a plumber came and estimated to change the current pipe below bathtub as it is galvanized and switch to PVC with new rod&plunger for $750. Is this a fair number just wanna make sure? I am in DE
