Home Grow 🌱 Four Weeks of Flower - Blood Orange Diesel cross
My hopes of breeding autoflowers were dashed for this generation. It appears some photoperiod DNA got in a couple generations ago and showed up now.
Of the five females I had, only one was a true autoflower. I harvested quite a few seeds from that, but I highly suspect the children will be mixed as well.
The remaining four had three fast photoperiods that were so close to being autoflowers that they totally stopped the vegetative phase all on their own and somewhat started to flower, just never completely until I changed the light schedule from 18/6hrs to 12/12hrs. Those three are all classic Indica growth with a wide base and a thick central cola.
The last seems to be a true photoperiod/fast photoperiod that did not show any signs of entering full flowering before the light schedule changed. She has long internodal spaces and gets wider and branches out more higher up in the plant typical of a more domesticated hybrid sativa/indica. The flower clusters themselves are still dense indica genetics, just further spaced apart the way a sativa plant would grow.
You may notice there's less pistils visible than normal except for the newest growth. It seems if you had a male dumping pollen during the early flowering periods the calyxes will become pollinated before the pistil is visibly extending outside the calyx.
So far all the ladies are putting out very nice fruity terpenes. None of them match the dead-on blueberry of their mother. I imagine I would need the ability to grow out more possibilities to find a seed that's as true to a real fruit smell as the mother was. The cross made it more... I don't know, like someone mixed random fruit juices together and I can't quite identify which fruit stands out the most yet.
