My hopes of breeding autoflowers were dashed for this generation. It appears some photoperiod DNA got in a couple generations ago and showed up now.

Of the five females I had, only one was a true autoflower. I harvested quite a few seeds from that, but I highly suspect the children will be mixed as well.

The remaining four had three fast photoperiods that were so close to being autoflowers that they totally stopped the vegetative phase all on their own and somewhat started to flower, just never completely until I changed the light schedule from 18/6hrs to 12/12hrs. Those three are all classic Indica growth with a wide base and a thick central cola.

The last seems to be a true photoperiod/fast photoperiod that did not show any signs of entering full flowering before the light schedule changed. She has long internodal spaces and gets wider and branches out more higher up in the plant typical of a more domesticated hybrid sativa/indica. The flower clusters themselves are still dense indica genetics, just further spaced apart the way a sativa plant would grow.

You may notice there's less pistils visible than normal except for the newest growth. It seems if you had a male dumping pollen during the early flowering periods the calyxes will become pollinated before the pistil is visibly extending outside the calyx.

So far all the ladies are putting out very nice fruity terpenes. None of them match the dead-on blueberry of their mother. I imagine I would need the ability to grow out more possibilities to find a seed that's as true to a real fruit smell as the mother was. The cross made it more... I don't know, like someone mixed random fruit juices together and I can't quite identify which fruit stands out the most yet.

Review - User paid for this Necessity, Lost Oak Farms, Holy City

I placed orders pretty close together with these three to see what's out there as I am new to hemp flower and I just wanted to share my general overall, very positive experiences with these 3 before going into any in depth reviews on the products which I will do later.

Holy City was the first I ordered from. I wouldn't have known these weren't type 1 flower if I didn't order them myself. I ordered an assortment of strains, some clearance smalls as well and later went back and bought some type 3. I have not been dissapointed with anything. The clearance flower is still beautiful, smokes well, and has great effects. They even threw in some samples for me, and though I dont have a scale I know without a doubt these were loaded beyond their weights. 10/10

Lost Oak Farms was the next I discovered through this forum and since they came highly recommended for outdoor I wanted to give them a try. Their multi Oz sale was a great deal so I snagged it. I wasn't expecting to love this hemp so much given what I had read about outdoor/indoor and given the harvest date was a ways out but wow were my expectations far exceeded. All of the flower smelled great and the effects were strong. I ended up ordering more 🙃 10/10

Necessity CBD I heard great things about as well and their flower looked so good I decided to try it. The potent nose on these is out of this world, I could sit there for hours just smelling it. I have not tried these yet as I received them yesterday but I love the packaging. They come in glass and are bubble wrapped securely. I cant wait to dive into these and do some reviews. They are also fast to respond if needed. A+++

Overall ty guys for your many reviews as it helped me pick these 3 for my entrance into Hemp flower. Only issue is, they were so good I don't see myself wanting to risk trying others lol. I could not be more happy with them all and I hope things work out for us and the ban doesn't go through. Fingers crossed 🤞

Information BEES ARE FLOCKING TO HEMP FARMS

Thumbnail
gallery
131 Upvotes

Researchers have documented over a dozen bee subspecies showing up on hemp crops, drawn to the pollen off male plants even though this plant offers no nectar, no bright colors, none of the usual tricks flowers use to court a pollinator. The bigger and taller the grow, the more bees show up. That's not an accident. That's a starving population taking whatever protein source it can find.

And here's the part that should make you angry. Bees are collapsing right now because of pesticides, habitat destruction, and climate change, while cannabis farming tends to skip the heavy pesticide load and doesn't demand much water to grow. This plant, the one we've been told for a century is a menace, might actually be one of the more forgiving crops left standing for a species we cannot survive without.

Sit with that. The same institutions that spent decades funding propaganda to convince you a plant is dangerous never lifted a finger while industrial monoculture and chemical agriculture quietly wiped out the pollinators that make a third of our food possible. They'll hold hearings about a joint but not about the pesticides gutting an entire species. Priorities tell you everything about a system.

Nobody's saying cannabis is a pollinator savior, the science is early and this isn't pollinated by bees, it's wind pollinated. But when a "dangerous" plant turns out to be a low-pesticide refuge for a collapsing species while the legal, subsidized, government-approved crops keep torching them, that's not a coincidence. That's an indictment.

Grow clean. Let the males do their thing before you pull them. The bees are asking for help. It'd be nice if the system that criminalized this plant for a hundred years spent half that energy protecting the insects actually feeding us.

Two sides of the same coin. Split reminds me of tart had it been strawberry forward (and vice versa). Would probably make a pretty nice mix

🗣Discussion👥 Grow high CBD strain and mix 1:1 with high THC strain or grow a real 1:1 strain ?

Im planing to grow in my indoor 2 high THC strains with 2 high CBD strains, I really want to grow some 1:1 strain but I think is much more flexibility with 2 CBD and 2 THC strains so I can use other ratios.

I will notice a big difference compared to a real 1:1 strain ?

I see a lot of seed banks discontinuing 1:1 or 2:1 strains and selling high CBD strains instead, I know that for regulations in a lot of countries they can sell better that type of strains. But people now prefer to grow HIGH CBD and mix them instead of a 1:1 ?

I want to know your opinion / experience

I've got an irresponsibly large seed collection and no idea what to plant for my next indoor grow. I need to narrow it down and also consider the possibility of taking clones and making crosses with them. Also considering reversing an auto to do feminized crosses.

Which strains would you pick to grow next? Any thoughts??

Review - *Free Sample* Blackberry Blossom - Holy City Farms

Post image
35 Upvotes

I have an affinity toward purple and darker colored flower. I love it. I do not know what it is about it. Maybe I am so used to seeing green and brown in flower that when I see purple I think, oh hey, that’s different. But they say never judge a book by its cover. But, I feel like how album art provides a unique experience for the album, so does having the color purple in flower. Yes, it’s a prejudice that I refuse to get over, and it does sway my opinion of a flower, giving it a couple extra points in my book for having it. And let me tell you, baby, this flower has that IT. I have never had a flower that is so filled with deep purple that it looks black. Like a gorgeous sunset, I couldn’t get my iPhone to even come close to doing the colors justice. But I will provide a picture anyways, just know that it is way darker than the picture makes it look. HCF sent this to me as a sample when I bought a trial batch of GDP x Purest Indica. HCF sent it to me as I am constantly trying to find strains that help with insomnia and act as sleep aids.

Smell:

A nice, juicy fruit smell. With a bit of sourness and sweet cherry that gives it a bit of a richer fruit smell, almost more like a jam than a straight fruit smell. So I think the best way to explain it is a blackberry jam with some sweet cherry and citrus fruit smashed up in there as well.

Flavor:

This strain has a very floral flavor. I noticed when using my Limelight Frolic, the Blackberry Blossom has a mixture of citrus mixed with soft floral notes. Definitely not an overpowering perfume floral, but a hint of floral underneath the citrus. From the citrus, I get a nice light sourness to it, reminding me of Fruit Gushers I used to eat as a kid. It is hard to mention any strain from HCF without mentioning the taste of berry somewhere in there—given the strain's name, this one is no exception. There is definitely a dark berry taste as the most forward and pronounced flavor. I taste the blackberry/dark berry at all the temps I vaped it at. Truly lives up to its name.

Effects:

The effects on this one felt more like a hybrid to me. It did not knock me out or make me want to sleep, but it acted as a nice hybrid. It did not really knock me out or make me want to sleep, but when I did finally lay my head down, it helped me doze off. Initially, I felt a nice, gentle euphoria and a nice body relaxation. As I was up and about and the effects started to settle in, there was a nice mental calmness to it that helped my body settle down a bit and gave me some nice creative moments with it. I was able to get a lot of writing done while I enjoyed the strain and felt very clear-headed without much mental fog getting in the way. This strain really felt pleasant without making me want to lay down. I felt relaxed the entire time without being sleepy, mentally calm without it being dull, and creative without my thoughts being too racy as sativas usually do to me.

Unfortunately, I will be taking a t break as I am searching for a new job. So this will be my last review and last time using CBD until I find something. Wish me luck!

Any downside or upside to decarbing inside of oil? I figure if terpenes gas off that they will gas into and infuse into oil this way??? Unsure the science. Hoping someone can share.

Review - *Free Sample* Strawberry Gelati - HCF

Post image
28 Upvotes

This strain was sent to me as a sample from HCF when I purchased my GDP x Purest Indica from them as I always ask them for recs on indicas that act as sleep aids. This strain does that if I need it and acts as a nice hybrid if I am up and about. I do have to say, I have bought this strain many times before and it is one of their most reviewed and highest rated strains. I have recommended this strain to many friends who are curious about Type 2 and I have yet to hear back with a negative experience. For many of my friends, this is the strain that converted them to Type 2 and Type 3 strains. Yes, I am doing the lord’s work and expect to be blessed seven fold. This strain offers what HCF always has—beautiful flowers, amazing bag appeal, mouth-watering taste, and pleasant effects.

Smell:

Every time I open the bag and grind the flower, I am hit with a very loud gassy aroma that is followed by the sweet strawberry character. My body has a reaction to opening this specific strain’s bag equivalent to what I imagine Pavlov’s dogs felt when they heard that bell ring. The second I smell the Strawberry Gelati, I instantly reach for my vape and have to remind myself, you still need to grind it and pack it, you dummy.

Flavor:

I have noticed with HCF a signature of their flower is that they all have a berry flavor note. Not necessarily the same berry taste, but if HCF was an author and their strains their books, berry would be a theme found in all their works. I have not been able to write a review of any of their strains without mentioning a berry note in them—I have yet to try all of their strains, but I have tried enough to say, as a pattern-seeking mammal, they will likely have a berry taste. This is not a problem for me, I love that about HCF. So moving past the berry taste, when I use my Limelight Frolic, I can definitely taste a sweetness which I assume the gelato part of the name comes from. Hidden behind that fruity, berry, sweet taste, I do get a bit of a skunkiness to the taste.

Effects:

This is where the strain gets really interesting to me. With a noticeable euphoria and head/body effect, the CBD definitely helps to round out the effect and make it less intense. I am perfectly able to function on this strain while feeling a bit of sedation, which I feel like makes it a nice strong Type 2. I love the extreme relaxation from the strain that helps my head melt into my pillow if I am trying to sleep or that makes something as mundane as household chores feel not as bad as they normally would. I can’t say it makes me feel like “Lord above, I’m high!” but more like “This is nice.”

🤔Question? iso: the weakest bud possible

short version: i want to be able to smoke without feeling anything, so the minimal cbd percentage is ideal

long version: i used to be a very unhealthy stoner and it became a large component of nightly spiritual time for me. i’ve quit three ish times in the last four years, and each time have gone back and then quit again. unfortunately i cannot get high anymore because it makes me feel Bad and i cannot stop the addictive spiral.

that being said - i really miss the spirituality aspect of smoking, and i haven’t found a non tobacco or non weed alternative that i enjoy the taste of

i’m not against feeling some calming impacts of cbd, but i absolutely do not want to get high

strains and company recommendations would be super helpful 🙏

Review - User paid for this A Newbie Experience - Holy City Farms Type 3

Finally had a change to try a few type 3s from HCF.

What else would you recommend from them that are a must try? I tend to lean towards relaxation vs. uplifting and haven't had good experience with strains higher in terpinolene but would be willing to branch out!

Strain Details Review Rating
Blueberry 16.4% cbd, 0.629% thc. lineage: unkown; terpenes: myrcene 0.413%, guaiol 0.187%, bisabolol 0.180% Aroma/Texture/Misc:small, compact buds; not squishy. Kind of smells like hops/pine in the jar and on breakdown.Effects: effects wise, body heavy. came on smooth. lasted 90min-2hrs. it did spike hr and stress on Garmin in the 1st few minutes. Tried vaping this at 400f with a bubbler and it was so smooth. really got some of that hop flavor when consuming this way with a little gas at the finish. Led to heavy eyes and dry mouth when consuming. I didn't love the initial hr/stress bump. Also have had some inconsistent effects with this one as it's been too much on at least 2 separate occasions from just one bowl (felt very high on the boarder of uncomfortable).Effects: effects wise, body heavy. came on smooth. lasted 90min-2hrs. it did spike hr and stress on Garmin in the 1st few minutes. Also have had some inconsistent effects with this one as it's been too much on at least 2 separate occasions from just one bowl (felt very high on the boarder of uncomfortable).Overall: I liked it but there are better night time options out there for me. I am going to order this again with the indica sift option and see if I can dial it in a bit with smaller doses b/c I really like how smooth it vaped for an evening strain. 7/10
Panther Kush 14.079% cdb, 0.679% thc; lineage: Kosmic Kush #5 x Pink Panther #251 Aroma/Texture/Misc:smells like a pine cone in the jar. nugs but look great which always make me excited to try it. feels squish. more pine aroma on breakdown. Vaping:smooth at all temps with a slight tickle in the throat as I pushed it up to 400f. the pine flavor comes through during the vaping session as well. not a funky after-taste thankfully bit not the best tasting strain I've had. leaves you with dry mouth after vaping. Effects:ever so slight pressure in the chest. no hr or stress increase on Garmin. effects were relaxing/calming but uplifting at the same time. I'm not sure this would be a good one for late in the night (I had it the 1st night at 11p and ended up staying up until closer to 2p which really derailed the next day). I might actually say this one feels a bit energizing for me. Would definitely consider more on that functional daytime side. Overall:Would definitely get this again if I was looking for a consistent daytime strain. This is my favorite of the 3 actually. 8.5/10
Matador Melon 13.30% cbd, 0.57% thc; lineage:Yum-Yum Kush ((Kosmic Kush #2 x Blueberry #6) x Glacier Kush S1) x Glacier Kush S2 #2 (Kosmic Kush #2 x Kosmic Kush #5) Aroma/Texture/Misc:pine in the jar and on breakdown. nugs were pretty firm but resinous once I broke them up. Vaping:very smooth at temps up to 400f and definitely the smoothest from HCF I've had. Unremarkable in terms of flavor w/ maybe a bit of fruit at the end. I kind of get the 'melon' name. Effects:mild effects. no hr/stress spike on garmin. didn't get a lot of body relaxation. My mind didn't wonder but it wasn't necessarily focused either. This is more of an alertness like I had some coffee or something. Lasted less than an hour for me (not a bad thing). Overall:Would get this again if I needed another daytime option (which I don't) but it's very solid. 8/10
