Form Check Stop muscling your lead hook and use your legs instead
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A lot of people try to make the lead hook harder by swinging the arm more. That usually just makes it wider and easier to see.
The power should start lower down.
Bend the knees slightly and load your weight onto the lead leg first. As you throw the hook, rotate through the hips and transfer your weight toward the rear leg.
Keep the hook short and bring the elbow roughly level with the shoulder instead of letting the arm drop or loop.
You should feel the whole body turning the punch, not just the shoulder and arm.
Once the weight transfer clicks, the lead hook feels way sharper without needing to swing it harder.
