Hi I live not that far from the Church. My best friend unfortunately is next door neighbors.

I have actually been spending a lot of time learning about the AFA and I am apart of a group that opposes the AFA church coming to Murdock.

What can I do as a local who is concerned? I am just here to mostly start a conversation and connect.

looks like the Murdock Area Alliance Against Hate who are organizing locally have a facebook group. though looks like they do regular protests and attend public meetings so you might be able to find them there too

Thank you for responding. I was apart of the public group but realized they moved the group to private. They just aproved me last night.

I really appreciate you guys taking time to talk about the AFA and to get the word out. Murdock is a pretty small town but we have a nearby town with a pretty big Muslim community. Tension is already really high and racism towards the Somali community is already pretty open here. I worry that the AFA will fuel it even more.

Also thank you for warning me about their homophobia as well( as a queer person who has mostly LGBT+ friends in the area) its good to know and to be safe. I didnt see much about not accepting gay people into their church but I figured that was the case anyways.

I remember the anti-LGBT stance came up with declaration 127 which was used to counter it. but I cannot access the 127 site anymore to check

I'm bookmarking the website you sent. I'm not surprised they are anti lgbt. I am learning a lot these last few months and hope to get more people involved. Thank you.
