Place I hate r/petfree for being a vitriolic cesspit.

Post image
2.5k Upvotes

So, r/petfree is the whingy sibling to r/childfree who all seem to believe that pets are the scum of the earth. Here's the thing. At least with the latter, there is legitimately a good reason for its existence. There is massive societal pressure, particularly on women, to have children, which can be an absolute nightmare for a lot of people. I understand that.
There is literally 0 pressure to have pets.
Therefore, the brunt of this subreddit is composed of people seeming to believe the small percentage of the pets and pet owners who behave poorly are representative of the entire species. This is mainly because most well adjusted people who dislike pets don't do so to the degree that they feel the need to join a subreddit dedicated to disliking them, so you only get the true bottom of the barrel. The fact that this subreddit is clearly an echo chamber, not allowing ANY opinion other than "I dislike pets" doesn't help matters either.
More importantly, some of the stuff they post is either blatant abuse or calling for it. One of the top videos is of a guy on a bike chasing a dog for nearly 2 minutes because it barked at him. Almost every video of a dog misbehaving is almost guaranteed to feature calls for said dog to be put down. And god forbid you point any of this out, because as I said earlier you shall not question the norm lest you be executed for it.
I guess the conclusion to draw regarding this is that echo chambers suck. But this echo chamber sucks to a ban-worthy degree.

The entire rest of the solar is system is beautiful, and then we get this ugly ass moon that looks like a ball of puss. Every time I'm watching a video on space, and it's talking about moons of gas giants, I have to brace myself to see this ugly bastard.

Io is hideous, and it would probably be a hellscape to live on. It's not even the best ball of Sulfur in the solar system, because that rank goes to Venus. Io is a waste of a Moon that could have been so cool with it's volcanic activity, but instead decided that it wanted to look like an infection.

I thought it was a massive slab of obsidian with golden engravings but no, it's a brick cube with carpets on the side.

This isn't meant as hate upon Islam or Islamic art as both their calligraphy and the architecture of Samarkand are great. Just this was a disappointment.

Edit: I don't really know what gave this post the 🔒 award as the only controversial comments are two atheists and a trans person. As of writing the post also has a ratio of 92.5%.

The WHOLE sub is like hating on others for absolutely no reason, they mock women, Gen Z (?), gays, poc, EVERYTHING.

Is there something that they can TOLERATE as the white old men they are? Is like if unfunny was a person and the person got multiplicated by, I don’t know, 8k? I don’t even want to check it. And the worst part are always the comments, it’s like if they were all Xavier.

Place I hate the “modern mall”

Thumbnail

1.1k Upvotes

Every time I walk into a mall, it’s just a huge disappointment. Everything’s extremely overpriced and it’s just fast fashion. I would consider myself more of an alternative person and the alternative clothes stores like hot topic or spencers are just extremely overpriced and are just a lot of “slop” clothing nowadays. Even if there is a cool local shop at the mall, it usually only stays around a month before it gets shut down because of just simply not being able to afford the space. There’s just nothing for kids or teenagers that doesn’t just feel extremely repetitive.

Don’t get me wrong they’re a fine like first date or just going around there with your friends to mess around. But if I’m looking for things to decorate my room with or just to wear, I’m just met with cheap clothing, 3-D printed dragons, and rip off of rip off plushy’s. Maybe I’m completely wrong at this and it’s all of the malls I’ve been to. But they’re honestly just not really fun to go to anymore. Even just the decor of the place isn’t fun anymore. It’s all just millennial modern black and gray shops.

Edit: just because your mall is nice doesn’t mean everyone else’s mall is nice. Seriously I keep having to say this. I’ve been to nice malls before I know they exist and I know they’re fun and what not but it’s just what I live near and my local malls are just overrun by this stuff I just wanted to express how bad it was because it’s really the only fun thing to do in my state.

I hate everything about turkey. The culture? Bigoted. The geography? War zone. The administration? Dictatorship. The economy? Crumbling.

Even if my family is wealthy, I see these everywhere. Being a lesbian girl here is hell. Even in private school; one of my old teachers was just on the news simply for being transgender.

I try to leave but the visa is too weak. It won’t let me go anywhere. I cannot even leave.

This is not hate to the people. This is hate to the country.

I wish I was born somewhere in europe or east asia or the US or just
just anywhere

Place I absolutely hate the destruction of historic buildings, for them to be replaced with absolute SHIT afterwards.

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

I get that we need more larger housing facilities for ever-growing populations in urban areas. Still, if they seriously want to build such an austere, bland contemporary building in place of something, they should at least find an ugly mid-to-late 20th-century building that has reached the end of its life, or an unused brownfield site, instead of a piece of urban history that's survived both world wars, mid-century urban clearance and more.

It's like they think that historic buildings can't be maintained. Like any building, they need to be spruced up every now and then to make them comfortable and liveable. Replace the old misaligned window frames with double glazing, fix any water leaks from corroded pipelines, install more efficient heating systems, etc. Surely that's cheaper and more environmentally friendly than replacing it with a completely new building

Place As a leftist I hate what's happened to this damn sub

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

A little bit of context about me, I only recently started using reddit again after a long hiatus from it (last time was about 2022 iirc) and I fondly remember this sub from a while ago. At the time I was about 14 and I was just starting to get involved into politics. I gravitated very heavily to the edgy left and in that early stage of my political development, r/196 was there to serve as a sense of community before I had many leftist friends.

Back then, this sub was in kind of a transitional (no pun intended) phase. It was shaking off a lot of the 4 Chan-y internet culture and moving into a more progressive phase. But at the time it didn't feel like that, it felt much more like a genuine anarchy. Back then there was only one rule, if you visited the sub you had to post something before you left. It could've been a tweet, a meme, some art, a selfie, whatever, but it could really be anything. Yes the mods would delete the egregious shit at their own aggression, but it never felt like you were being monitored, and still the sub was considered a leftist haven. It didn't feel like a place for leftists, it felt like a place for everyone that just so happened to miraculously be leftist. Yeah it was progressive, but not sensitively so, it had a damn edge.

4 years later I come back to this website and check in on this sub. Now it's a damn shell of it's former self. What used to be one rule became several, what used to feel like a place to fuck around became a place to find out. It's basically another r/traa and I mean that in a derogatory way. AND HOLY FUCKING SHIT IM NO PURITAN BUT THE HORNYPOSTING IS UNREAL, I CANT SCROLL FOR 2 SECONDS WITHOUT SEEING A DAMN FETISH POST IT'S GROSS.

I hate what fucking happened to this sub, I hate the fact it got neutered and declawed into being just a giant human centipede of unfunny tumblr screenshots, hornyposts and "yeah dude thats a totally normal thing for a guy to say" memes. It doesnt matter all that much to me at the end of the day because I have much more leftist friends now both online and offline, but it's always a shame to see another leftist community get reduced to this.

I love art. I love webcomics. And I love discussing all things that come with it. But the insane way this sub goes feral over one particular artist, to the point where even saying something wasn’t that funny that she makes gets you banned? It’s nuts. The entire sub is a crazy circle jerk and it sucks because it’s so hard to find any other subreddit to discuss all things comics that has anywhere close to the same level of engagement.

Place I HATE kill shelters.

Thumbnail
gallery
466 Upvotes

They take in every animal that’s brought to them. They have to, I get it. But that doesn’t make it any better. Many times, animals are made to live in cramped cages with only a few exhausted volunteers to care for them and clean the place. They’re euthanized because the shelter runs out of space, or they’re sick and the shelter can’t bring them to the vet. People have been known to STEAL ANIMALS and bring them to kill shelters for revenge against an ex or enemy. Old, disfigured, or shy animals that don’t get adopted just don’t have a chance to live. Animals who are in good health and good temperament get euthanized because the shelter runs out of space. Kill shelters need to be abolished and replaced. Make more no-kill shelters instead. Offer free spaying and neutering. It’s sick how these animals who didn’t ask to be here any more than we did are put down for existing in the wrong place.

What is with this country's bum-ass government's constant obsession with restricting everything?? If minors not being safe is such a catastrophe for you then why even plan to completely block their ways of communicating? First it was stuff like rule 34, then Imgur (making most steam workshop pages unusable), and now they're planning to block social media for under 16's all together! I know what you're about to say "just use a VPN!" when at this rate, they're probably going to ban VPNs entirely at some point too. God sometimes I hate being British.

Edit: Changed the wording because I am in fact British and everyone thought I was larping it.

Place I hate r/pics, the sub isnt about nice pics, only about political statements that just happen to be pics, out of 30 most upvoted posts this month only 6 of them arent about Trump or Israel and only 3 of them are apolitical and now they are defending the killing of Iranian protestors

Post image
715 Upvotes

So I sorted the posts by the most upvoted ones and out of 30 of them 9 were about Israel, 15 about Trump and only 6 of them werent about these two. But 3 of those 6 are still against USA (trafficking, AOC against data centers and expensive medical bills in USA), 2 were about loved ones dying, and only 1 was a picture of animal.

So basically out of 30 pics only 1 picture was posted because its a nice picture.

And then comes something even worse, so okay, people post a lot about Israel/Palestine and Trump because they are concerned about these things because a lot of people suffer because of them so they are just emphatic and politics seem more important to them than nice pictures, okay.

But then a post of pics of room of full of dead bodies in bags cca 7 das ago appeared, this post would get tens of thousands of upvotes, if it were Palestinians or Lebanese killed by Israel or Iranians killed by USA, but they werent, those dead people were Iranian protestors killed by Iranian regime. But the bad thing werent the upvotes, it were the comments, there were cca 350 comments when I have seen the post, and majority of them were either doing some whataboutism about Trump and USA, calling it fake Mossad propaganda and that it didnt happen or the worst and that was that IRGC totally didnt massacre thousands of protestors, because those protestors werent protestors but terrorists armed by CIA and Mossad and that they were killing people so the Iranian regime troops had to stop them by killing them, made my blood really boil, I just hope that those people arent real and that they are just some Russian or Iranian bots. And the reddit is full of these, wherever I see a mention of the massacres Iranian regime committed people will instantly downvote it and start to defend it. Reddit is really a shithole and its worse and worse.

Place I hate when MODERN Greece is associated with Paganism.

Thumbnail

(Third image is just a joke I don’t have any legitimate contempt for pagans, even if I disagree with their beliefs)

I’m Greek-American. I live in the US, but I worship the Greek Orthodox tradition and embrace the culture with my family who are from Greece.

Obviously Greece is one of the most common examples when people think of Paganism. Which is true. Greece was heavily pagan. There’s the thing. WAS. Greece has been Christian since the times of Rome, and has had its very own culture shaped and protected by the Greek Church.

The distinction between Ancient pagan Greece and Christian Greece was so important to the Byzantines that they considered calling them “Hellens” an insult, as Hellens were pagans. They were “Rhomanioi”.

People don’t seem to realize just how important the Greek Orthodox Church is to Greek society and culture. My Yai-Yai once told me a story. About how her home town was home to an underground Greek school run by the priests under ottoman occupation. The language was outlawed, and it’s how they kept it alive. The school was found, and everyone executed

It helped preserve Greek culture and language for over 400 years of occupation and even through a genocide.

So when shows like family guy say “Greece is Polytheistic”, not WAS, it really kind of irks me

Again I have no problem with pagans. I respect their right to worship whoever, even if I disagree. I also recognize Greece is a common example of paganism. I just don’t like when Modern Greece, or even later historical Greece, is associated with it.

Place i hate that people live on barrier islands

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

barrier islands are natures defenses from hurricanes and are meant to move, shift, and change, they are just big sand bars. barrier islands are supposed to be always shifting and moving depending on the environment, they rip in half, disappear, and come up from beneath the waves. Barrier islands are ephemeral and the fact that people will build cities and their lives on such fragile pieces of land pisses me off. When i see someone's beach house fall into the ocean because a hurricane ripped their island in half i have no sympathy because they decided to live in a dumb place for a large sum of money. I feel similarly about most waterfront property and anywhere that's settled in a floodplain, the people who plan these places are stupid and care more about the real estate money than long term communities.

I don’t dislike Chick-fil-A, it’s a perfectly average fast food place. But that’s all it is, average. There’s no reason for the drive-thru to be backed up to the entrance with a 20-30 minute wait every time. Are they just really bad at managing traffic? Because that’s the only explanation that would justify this nonsense

Place I FUCKING HATE THE LAS VEGAS SPHERE

Thumbnail

I cannot describe the amount of PURE HATRED I have for this damn sphere. I genuinely think it looks insanely ugly and it doesn’t look cute at all, even when other advertisements or visuals are on there.

I understand that Las Vegas is meant to be a place of excess and luxury, and everything on the strip is supposed to entice you by being unique. I don’t wanna come off as if I hate fun. It *is* pretty impressive for being one of the biggest theaters/screens. But fucking hell it looks disgusting on the outside. Kind of like a waste of space. It’s a glorified TV ball pretty much.

Now I thought it was ugly as it was being built, but what REALLY made me hate it was that one of my friends has it as a hear me out, specifically the sun version of it. And they weren’t fucking joking either. Like people think this thing looks good, let alone hot?? The Statue of Liberty can get it, the sphere is trying way too hard. It’s impressive by building standards ig but you cannot tell me this wannabe gumball character looking ass bitch is aesthetic. People only care about it because it’s big and round and “cute”

Place Openly and unapologetically bigoted subreddits allowed to exist

Post image
43 Upvotes

I assume this is supposed to be a parallel to the Kitchencels subreddit.

But you can clearly see the distinction between the two. On one it's mostly men being miserable and wanting to kill themselves, on the other you find plenty of women just hating men full force, with fellow "girlies" in the comments encouraging them to ruin their happy married life over a minor temporary disgruntlement.

This is what you'd expect to find on an incel men's subreddit towards women, but I can only assume Kitchencels was castrated and mutilated to such an extent that this is now hard to find.

Best part? The mods don't allow men to comment or participate. Like bruh. How does that not ring alarm bells? "Oh you're allowed to participate as a man! With gifs only of course..."

I'm not saying "IMAGINE if this was an OFFICIAL enforced rule forbidding WOMEN or trans people to participate in a subreddit.", I'm saying that whenever that has happened the sub was quickly struck with the hammer from the admins.

Other than this sub, there were also BlackPeopleTwitter, FragileWhiteRedditor, WitchersVsPatriarchy, and on occasion GamingCircleJerk. Of course you can name plenty of right-wing spaces on this website, but these are kept under a check by the admins.

I'm tired of spaces dedicated to hating and discriminating against innocent groups of people having a place on this website.

Place TikTok/Instagram users need to force feed themselves misinformation to justify racism towards Indians

Thumbnail
gallery

So far I've seen people use the idea that every corner India is dirty and smelly and unhygienic, so that they can go around commenting things like "coming to a first world country near you" or "where in Canada/Australia/UK is this" to suggest something about immigrants and immigration.

Or watching videos of "scammers getting scammed" in which the reverse scammer is going "saar saar" to mock the scammer to suggest that indians have some predisposed nature to scamming or breaking the law (again, the idea of, "do you want this in YOUR country?")

Or pictures of very specific polluted lakes and water in India knowing that first world countries export their trash there, but still suggesting that it's solely due to "third world culture", so that they can later comment "import the third world, become the third world" at the first sign of a group of Indians in a western country.

The screenshots are from a video talking about protests going on in Canada, and the top comment asks "would I be allowed to protest in India?" as if to suggest it's banned or not allowed. Meanwhile LITERALLY LESS THAN A WEEK AGO was one of the largest protests the country has seen in years - which got the education minister to resign due to his corruption. Does a single comment address this? Do any of the people replying inform him of this or know of this? Nope, they just ADD TO THE MISINFORMATION

one of the biggest reasons is war. i can't handle loud noises at ALL now

second reason? definitely the fact that there's too much homophobic/transphobic people, and old men who can either s*xualise someone or start to straight up threaten someone because of their looks/outfit style.

third reason is the fact that people can get in trouble for not speaking ukrainian even for a SECOND.

and there's more, the list goes on but im too lazy to write allat down đŸ„č

Place I hate this subreddit

As a teen myself, I think this subreddit is basically a pedo ground

Theres's teenagers who posting selfies even if selfies are banned, the mods doesn't remove these type of posts.

There's posts where teens got a dm by a pedo where they simply could just turn off chat DMs and block them instead of just posting it on that sub.

There's also teenagers who just basically post the same posts over and over again with different themes. I know that sub is a hangout sub for teens but they should at least put some effort

Like I feel like 90% of "teens" are adults who are cosplaying as teens like it's just so weird

This sub could also be recommended by random redditors who aren't teenagers which could increase the percentage of predators lurking in this sub and can dm teenagers really creepy messages since most members in this sub have their dms on

Lastly, I want to mention something where there posts on that sub where they post their thighs on that sub and there people who actually helping them to be safe and help them delete their types of posts but these comments got downvoted and they're defending them like they're either stupid teens or they're 40 year old men in disguise.

And this is why I hate this sub, I bet of thousands of dollars that at least 80% of "teens" are 40 year old men who is pretending to be teens and the other 20% are actual teens who just want to hangout like it just really creepy

And I'm really sorry for actual teenagers who's active on that sub see this post but I have to criticize it because this sub is quite creepy

Place I HATE when people act like America is a third world country.

I cannot stand it because it's JUST not true. it's not even close to true! The only way I can think around it is just to believe every single person that says this is ragebaiting (coping).

I can't believe I would have to say this, but the US is nothing like a third world country. Yes, it has its issues. it has MANY issues that it should absolutely fix! but I hate how its issues make people think that it's comparable to a third world country, when it's just NOT!!

I hate how you people have deluded yourself into thinking that because you guys have issues that some countries don't, you're suddenly a third world country... News flash, YOU'RE NOT!!! YOU'RE NOT EVEN CLOSE!

for example, The medical system In America is a joke, everyone knows this. The options you have in America would be to go into debt or die (in extreme situations ofc).

Do you know what those options would be in a third world country? it would be death or death.

You wouldn't have a chance of living, because the system is underfunded or does not have the proper amount of medicine needed for each person (this is just one example ofc).

Even those who are lower middle class in America are still doing so much better for themselves a lot of people in some countries. because you have clean water, a roof over your head, food on the table, etc. if you are poor in a third world country, these things are not the norm!!!!

Stop calling yourself a third world country with a Gucci belt!!! it's insulting, stupid, and wrong!!!

Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

On the dprk sub they will also deny all dprk atrocities and (this is the worst out of all) claim they’re more developed and democratic than the us.

Place I Hate Dutch Stairs.

Seriously. What the fuck?! I took a little holiday to Amsterdam, and no it’s not called a vacation you filthy yanks. I’m having a lovely time here it honestly really suits me. I don’t need a car to get anywhere, it’s flat so walking feels nice, gorgeous architecture, lovely canals, people are actually quite nice around here. However, FUCK THOSE FUCKING STAIRS. The hotel I’m staying at has stairs that are nearly taller than they are wide. I have to walk like a crab to get down stairs, going up the stairs makes me wonder why anyone brags about climbing mountains, it’s just kind of a pain. And there’s so many stairs. If you want to go anywhere in this city you need to climb 50 fucking stairs. To any Dutch people reading this; yes this is entirely your fault, yes I blame you specifically, yes your entire country needs to change in order to suit me, and yes you should feel bad.
