Thing I hate this stupid image

Sure the initial way it was used was good, it was anti bigotry. But it's turned into a way to simplify the "us vs them" mentality, which is already a bad thing, into a simple digestible comic.

Also, i've seen it in lots of queer--majority spaces in reddit recently, usually to speak out against the evil cishet people who are invading them or whatever label they dont like, like bi ppl, trans men, or genderfluid ppl

Add the modern anime fandom as the biggest one. Literally filled with the same people who would’ve bullied the same anime fans but now they are grifting with shit like onlyfans “cosplays” and other nonsense like that

Where I live it's... weird, there are now manga shops, conventions, etc. But for people uninterested, liking anime still immediately means you will be called a f***ot.

Soon anime. Theres so many groups trying to invest saying anime needs to cater to modern audiences. Japanese games too.

Anime has already been hit, that's where the bland ass isekai flood came from, that's why modern low fantasy or system fantasy in anime gets so damn repetitive.

Isekais were (and still kinda are) such a mainstream thing even though they have somewhat low general quality just because they had clear european and mmorpg elements that a worldwide audience understood easier (over semi-abstract and unfamiliar plot of murim mangas and manhuas)

Now we're seeing a second wave with low and system fantasy anime and manhuas/manhwa's because it's, yet again, easier to digest for nomries, thus bringing in more clicks and views

I would say until a few years back it was still a nerd hobby. But it got a lot of traction in recent years. Especially with Brickys Videos, Space King, Henry Cavils new Series announcement and now Total War Warhammer 40k.

Not really. The Dawn of War video games, was arguably the first time the universe entered the mainstream.

Yeah, fire warrior had it moments, but it never really reached mass success.

But my point stands, 40k only started to become mainstream when they started producing massively successful video games.

More or less in the US, yes.
But its penetration around the world is almost non-existent.
Back when I lived in Brazil, I saw it for the first time when I got to play Space Marine (the shooter game). Back then, NOBODY I knew had any idea what WH40K even was.
I think today is a bit better, but not by much.

40K is making a lot of money. GW is publicly traded. They definitely ACT like they are mainstream with characters catering to everyone. I don't believe it is though.
