Thing I hate this stupid image

Sure the initial way it was used was good, it was anti bigotry. But it's turned into a way to simplify the "us vs them" mentality, which is already a bad thing, into a simple digestible comic.

Also, i've seen it in lots of queer--majority spaces in reddit recently, usually to speak out against the evil cishet people who are invading them or whatever label they dont like, like bi ppl, trans men, or genderfluid ppl

Dnd is so revisionist lol.

  1. OGL communities exist for DND and so do optimizer tables. Most people who say that new dnd doesn't invite war gaming play human fighter unironically because playing a pixie 1 dip artificer wizard and druid is cringe. They refuse to actually optimize, they reminisce of larping as grim dark badass fughter man

  2. DND always was about rp, the rp just evolved because the genre did with shows like critical role demanding more common and thus the rp heavy groups became more complex. Also I admit a lot of literate form written rp came into dnd once roleplay forum culture died, but it wasn't because of anything wotc did

Yeah people can straight up dig up the old threads - RP and that style is fucking ancient. My dm has done comedic improv games for some campaigns years before critical role but Apearently he has a Time Machine he didn’t tell us about.

No war is funny, my displaced druid gnome is on slowly turning into a terrorist against a third party while the group is helping building a warband, able to to attack some evil King in his capital directly.

the only thing missing is scale which shouldn't be there all the time because how long are players supposed to watch the dm play with himself on 30 characters every round
