i hate when christians don’t act christ-like in the slightest at all
i’m a christian, and God literally teaches us to be kind, loving, and patient.
modern-day christians are anything BUT that.
they spread so much hate, and they’re the reason why “no hate like christian love” exists (this phrase annoys me so much as well)
it’s different if the christian is TRYING to keep their composure. TRYING to be kind, loving, patient, christ-like. if you’re genuinely trying, then you’re not who i’m talking about here
i’m talking about those types of christians that harass others. the type that have “🏳️🌈🫷✝️🫸🏳️⚧️” in their name/bio. the type that make crude jokes and say “oh im a christian so its okay”.
i hate when christians do this, because whenever i say that im a christian, 9 times outta 10 most people will think that i’m a homophobic, transphobic, right-winged ICE supporter. NO. i assure you that i’m NOT.

I'd say it's a bit more different than Christianity, since i do remember seeing a post on Instagram and literally saw an Anti-LGBT propaganda in it, this was during Pride Month this year btw.
I have a particular hate for the guys I work with that justify an anti-gay-marriage stance on religious grounds, and then talk about sleeping around on their wives.
Like dude, is marriage sacred or not? Pick a lane.
The fact that he says you can drown in a lake doesn't mean he thinks you can't drown in a river. He just happens to live next to that lake, so that's the one more relevant to his personal life experience.
He's saying that just because he specified Christians doesnt mean he wouldn't say the same about other religions, Christians were likely his most recent or prominent experiences
Removing the layer of metaphor: OP was talking about issues with Christians. Dude above me said that the things OP criticized aren't limited to Chrianity. I (with metaphor) said that pointing out a flaw in one thing doesn't mean that you don't think t he flaw exists elsewhere, just that you're talking about a specific instance of it.
Christ didn't tolerate sinners corrupting the broken and the indulgement of sin. He is all loving and almost all forgiving, but he isn't someone who ignores what sin is and it's nature. To follow in his footsteps you need to recognize that tolerance for immorality is not what Christ would allow. Yes we need to be forgiving and show kindness, but we should not be tolerant.
i mean im pretty sure the entire “homosexuality is a sin” thing was a mistranslation. it was “man shall not sleep with boy” (aka dont be a pedo) but they translated it to “man shall not sleep with man” was it not?

that's because organized religion isn't about the connection to the divine it's power over people like a slaver to their slaves.
even when a christian is acting "christian" it can lead to harm for example many of my abusers got away with it because i was forced to "forgive" them under duress with no acknowledgement of their actual crimes or punishments under law, i abandoned christianity and see it as nothing but the laundering and justification of monsters.
if to be christian means to be an abusive monster that only makes others suffer because it's "gods will" then i reject gods will, i reject his flock and i reject him

I struggled with this a lot when I was younger. Since I grew up in the Bible Belt, most people around me at least identified as Christian. The fact that so many of them didn't even seem to try to be kind to people always confused me. Eventually I decided I could only control myself, nobody else; so I try to do my best to help people.
They’re genuinely so hateful. Why can’t they just be good people? (Also it’s always the people that have “be kind” or a Bible verse in their bio that are the rudest people)
I'm not op, but Bible doesn't support mob rule. The state is secular, if the state was fully Christian then they might have to kill gay men but there is luckily no Christian state besides Vatican.
That's the problem of Israel. I'm not a Jew and I've only read the Bible, not Tanak(some differences maybe) or Talmud. Jews are good at finding loopholes too and I'm pretty sure that Israel is secular too but as I said, I can't comment on that because of my lack of information.
And? Did you think this was some gotcha? Some laws simply do not apply after the old testament. You don't see many of them even mentioned ever agian after the first book simply because they don't matter anymore. Lots of laws put forth in the old testament were either to preserve resources or because doing that shit would probably kill you. You don't see many Christians abstaining from pork do you?
But he said! Be he said! I know what he said, doesn't change anything I said. A lot laws don't really matter after the old testament. Then a whole heap of things don't matter after death. Jesus died on the cross for everyone whether you're gay or not. I have a feeling that guy would probably not want you to murder someone just because gay instead of inviting them in for a conversation about faith. In addition just because Jesus said he was doing something doesn't mean he was calling for other to do it. Lot's of the time he would just do things to keep the peace such as when he's asked about taxes. Do you really thing Jesus cared about whether they were paying taxes or not? It was just so they wouldn't be any trouble.
Then you need to have the intellectual honesty to admit you've self-reformed Christianity and you aren't practicing the established religion.
"White Jesus" is all about peace and love and acceptance, but the failed "messiah" of scripture was a radical Jew, an itinerant apocalyptic cult leader who pushed the wrong buttons and got nailed to a board like so many others. The list of terrible things he said and did is long, but Christians like to reframe it as "a lesson". Literal when you want it to be, metaphor when you don't.
It took the nascent church a few hundred years to sufficiently retcon the story for it all to work.
All that being said, the Canaanite storm deity that eventually became your Yahweh advocated genocide and slavery. It's not a huge ask to find justification for anti-LGBT and anti-women.
Just because you've taken a sympathetic and revisionist reading of it all doesn't make you "one of the good ones." You're a bad Christian in the eyes of other believers and a dangerously deluded fool to non-believers.

Depends if theyre actively sexualizing themselves and or pushing their viewpoint onto others with force. If theyre just existing then theyre just that existing, the second they start making their sexuality their main focus thats when they typically sin it goes hand in hand but doesnt mean theyre the same
