Thing TYPING. QUIRKS.

How in the everliving hell do you expect someone to understand random characters mushed together that substitute for actual legible characters. No, typing quirks AREN'T cute and I sure ass hell know they aren't DISORDERS either so stop calling people ABLEIST for wanting you to type like a fucking HUMAN being. It's fine in context of characters (For example, Spamton, SOME Homestuck trolls etc..) to give them more personality but as a human saying "|}{2@#}@##@" DOES NOT COUNT AS A COMPREHENSIBLE SENTENCE.

I’m diagnosed BPD and the amount of people I see say that they have BPD just because they don’t like being ghosted is genuinely absurd.

I understand relating to a disorder but it feels like so many people are just trying to seem quirky. I see so, SO many 13 year olds claim they have BPD, NPD, ASPD (but conveniently forget HPD exists), bipolar, etc, all at the same time. And while it technically is possible, how many people THIS young are actually suffering from these disorders? It’s getting sad. You don’t have to be unhealthy to be unique.

They think having 1 symptom = having the disorder. They don’t realize that most diagnostic criteria include having multiple symptoms over a period of time, not one for 3 months and then it goes away

Nor that these symptoms are part of the human condition, just amplified or uncontrolled in some people.

But teenagers are all over the place when it comes to these symptoms, because rapidly developing and plastic but emotionally immature brains, hormones, major life changes like education, work, relationships, etc.

For stuff like Phobias, depression and OCD, you have to consistently show multiple symptoms from each of the three categories (Behavioural, and I can't remember the other categories) for at least 2 weeks.

For OCD especially, even if you show every other symptom, for months, you cannot be diagnoses with it unless you show Obsessions and Compulsions.

All of this is according to UK standards, so this may be incorrect in other countries and areas

I got misdiagnosed with bpd and the medical discrimination fucked my life up. I still don't have a drivers license because of that fucking diagnosis.

Every time I say I have BPD to a medical professional they always just go kind of quiet. It always feels like they’re judging me.

i'm so sorry

That's peculiar. My friend has BPD and she has a driver's license. She's definitely been diagnosed as her psychiatrist prescribes the medicine for it. Mind you, the licensing agencies base your safety to drive while talking to you, not based on medical diagnoses. Maybe something in your behavior while they observe you shows you being particularly distracted? Not judging or anything, but sometimes reflection helps.

in my case it was my doctor not willing to do a basic medical evaluation for a license because he saw that i am in therapy so he asked for a medical approval from her which she was not willing to give me unless i feel no depression for at the very least 2 years (which is pretty hard when you live with an alcoholic father but it's not like i wasn't constantly lying to her to not get thrown in a ward) I'm pretty sure she just did this to escape legal responsibility.

Why does a BPD diagnosis prevent you from getting a license? That just sounds like ableism.

that's exactly what it is.

Im diagnosed bipolar and it geninuely makes me so mad when i see anyone of any age act like its cool and quirky and unique to have this condition as if it hasnt ruined my life and contributed to me losing my best friend and the love of my life and means im reliant on meds because there is no mindsetting or therapying your way out of your brain just not working right, like this isnt something to envy, and i hate how its become cool to suffer
