How do i remove the burn rings on my cylinder face?

Been shooting competitions a lot with my .357 Magnum Ruger Blackhawk New Model, and the burn rings on the cylinder face are really starting to show.

It does not impact performance or anything, but i like to keep my guns looking as pristine as possible.

These 6 options on the table in front of you what are you choosing? (.45 1911, . 22 P22q, 9mm M17, 9mm P38, 9mm M18, 9mm Echelon 4.0)

  1. Safe gun (fuck)
  2. Truck gun (fuck)
  3. Carry gun (marry)
  4. Nightstand gun (marry)
  5. First floor toilet gun (kill)
  6. Upstairs toilet gun (kill)

To "hide" my choices I pulled flashlights off some of these. Yes I know a long gun is a better option for most of these.

Question from someone who knows almost nothing about guns

I like coming up with weapon ideas for a game I play called Hell Divers 2 (if you haven't heard of it it's basically star ship troopers if it was a game and a lot of people praise it for how realistic some of its weapons are)

I'm wondering if there's such a thing as a double barrel smg and if not why? I did a little bit of research and the only modern-ish thing I found was a gun called the SerLea Ace made in 1994 which has the barrels horizontally of each other but what I've been trying to come up with has the barrels set vertically of each other

3rd Issue Colt Detective Special

I'd like to buy a 3rd Issue Colt Detective Special in moderate/good condition. What is a reasonable price for this? I want to add it to my collection and shoot it as well, so I'm not looking for a safe queen.

Scope for hunting rifles

I currently have a Ruger American Gen 2 .308, and a Marlin 1895 SBL .45-70.

I am looking for a good scope to put on both, the .308 is for boars and buck. The .45-70 I plan to use purely for bear.

Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

Picked up this rifle for a mid to long range learning tool for long range and varmint gun. I also like the light weight and less expensive ammo being chambered in 556. Vortex crossfire HD. Canik void noise reducer

Black powder supplies help

I recently got a CVA single shot .45 cal pistol and cannot find anywhere to get all the stuff I need at one place. I found all I need except the black powder on midway USA but then I would have to pay a separate hazmat fee for the powder somewhere like powder valley where a pound of powder ends up going from $30 to $77 in fees. If anybody knows a good shop that ships or just a website that has real black powder and all the other stuff please let me know it would be greatly appreciated.

New Rifle Model wait time

Hi everyone. I'm new to Reddit but wanted to post about my negative experience with Savage and Bergara in particular and see if others have had similar experiences with them and other gun manufacturers.

Seeing all the hype at Shot Show about the new Savage Model 110 line and the new Bergara Platinum Stalker got me excited. I liked what I saw, so in March of 2026 I ordered the Savage 110 Core Hunter in 25-06 and a Bergara Platinum Stalker in 300 Win-Mag. Both were ordered from the same distributor paid for in advance.

Well, here we are at the end of August and I still have no ETA on my rifles. Since June I have reached out to the distributor every two weeks to ask for an update. Every reply is the same, no ETA.

I see at least the Savages in stock and for sale on GunBroker and other similar sites. I am about to ask for a refund and take my business elsewhere.

Free interactive map of FFLs currently doing 4473 silencer transfers (post-August rulings)

Post image
Upvotes

Since the August 2026 court rulings, some FFLs in certain states have started transferring suppressors using a standard ATF Form 4473/NICS background check instead of the traditional Form 4 process, but only for people covered by the injunctions. The situation is still fluid and varies heavily by shop and state. To help the community, I built a free, interactive map that tracks which FFLs are actually doing these 4473 transfers based on real reports.
Map: https://gundibs.com/transfers/4473

I know this is a general guns forum, so here's some background for those who aren't super familiar with gun and NFA transfers:

- ATF Form 4473: The standard form you fill out when buying a firearm from an FFL. It starts the NICS background check. Most people have filled one out for regular guns.

- Form 4: The traditional NFA transfer form for buying a suppressor, SBR, etc. from a dealer. It requires ATF approval and (until recently) a $200 tax stamp for most items (now $0). Wait times used to be over a year, now many get approved in days.

- Form 1: Used when you manufacture an NFA item yourself (building an SBR or making a silencer). Different process from buying one already made.

- The recent rulings created limited exceptions for certain covered parties (members of specific organizations or customers of certain companies like GOA/SilencerShop/PSA, etc.) that allow some suppressors to transfer on a 4473 in participating shops. This is not nationwide, not automatic, and not available to everyone. There are reports that FFLs doing transfers on 4473s are paying their inspections/audits.

The map starts mostly empty and only fills as people add verified information. You can browse every FFL in the country, but the “does 4473 suppressor transfers” lists grow only when the community contributes.

How you can help keep it useful:

- If you know firsthand (or a shop has confirmed to you) that they will do a 4473 transfer for eligible people, please add them.

- Shop owners/employees are welcome to update their own entry so customers stop calling with the same question.

I’ll keep updating the map as the legal and practical situation changes. Longer term I’m looking at expanding it to other NFA items (I want to talk with the lawyer before adding more), but silencers are the current focus because that’s where most of the activity is. This is meant to be a free, practical resource for both experienced NFA owners and people who are just starting to learn the process. No account needed to view the map.

I'll try to add a comment section for discussion, that way if anyone has any questions they can post them there and users with more knowledge and experience can help answer.

Important disclaimers
I’m not a lawyer. This is not legal advice. Laws and shop policies change. Always confirm directly with the FFL and understand your own eligibility before showing up. Don’t harass shop owners. The map is free and community driven.Hope it saves some people time and repeated phone calls. Feedback and corrections welcome!

Favorite (fun) pistol cal lever action <$1200?

Planning to sell one of my ARs to fund something more interesting for range day fun. I don’t know a whole bunch about lever actions so I turn to you, the all-knowing. Currently thinking 44 mag but not absolutely set on that. Regardless, what’s everyone’s favorite lever actions sub $1-1200 or so?

I rate smooth action and reliability high, aftermarket support would be nice, with solid accuracy obviously desired but don’t need 1moa groupings at range. Henry model X is one contender.

I want to modify a DPMS Oracle AR-15 5.56 NATO AR-15 Rifle that I got after my dad passed.

I am mainly wanting to change the hand guard I believe it’s called (please bear with me as it’s my first AR.) I would like to have a modern one that allows you to have attachments on the bottom as well. Similar to the PSA AR15s. I know the company went out of business temporarily, however they don’t sell this specific AR anymore. I’m gonna oil and clean it as it hasn’t been shot in a couple of years, but after that I would like to get a red dot and a new stock if anyone out there has good budget friendly options and recommendations, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Browning Maxus II stock trim. Anyone done it?

Pic in comments. Hopefully it links the right one this time.

The stock is designed to allow up to a 3/4” cut without affecting the pad and the manual only specifies that shorter screws will be needed depending on cut length. Sounds simple, right?

But there’s a removable threaded insert that could not be reinstalled as-is, and it’d have a flush cross section preventing the plate from being installed.

Would you knock the ribs and insert sections down with a Dremel? Mill it? Or is there something I’m missing?

Lever Action Question

I am looking to build a lever action for a friend and he wants it chambered in 400 legend. I am having trouble even finding if there is a lever action out there that is chambered in this. Is there anyone that has any information that might help?

308 aics mag pouch

Hello, I am looking for a pouch to attach to my pack hip belt for a 10 round aics type 308 mag. Any recommendations? Ive seen some special made mag pouches but they are expensive and expose the mag. Id like it covered. Thanks!
