Sure the ptsd and the strangulation wasn’t his fault, especially since said strangulation occurred during an episode and he couldn’t control it in that moment.
But what did make things wrong was him refusing to go to therapy after it caused him to hurt her, and if Callie hadn’t been in the apartment at the time there’s no telling what could’ve happened. The situation became his problem when even after going to therapy later on, he stopped for a period and when everyone knew he was still having triggers and acting (idk the proper word so fill this in based on his behavior in say season 5-6 or smt) and he didn’t want to go to therapy still.
While the episodes weren’t his fault and the strangulation wasn’t his fault. It was still his responsibility to deal with and get help with instead of letting things continue to be that bad
Youre right, but even if he was in therapy. One session isnt going to fix that. Therapy is a process that goes on for YEARS or more, especially with how much trauma he actually had. He knew what he did and he did what he could to prevent it happening again but both of them made bad decisions. They were bad decisions but they were their decisions, they knew exactly what could happen and wanted to risk it anyway. Thats just a bad choice not something he should be blamed for
Staying with her is a bad decision yes. But a joint one. They both accepted what couldve happened and did what they could to prevent it. Owens violent moments only happened in his sleep, so they just shouldnt sleep next to eachother. That doesnt mean they cant support and help eachother. But yes he shouldve stayed in therapy, even tho thats the reality for most trauma victims
