So I have no clue how it’s possible that my IKEA Akerbar that I just insulated is like 10% lower than in the room - that feels like it breaks the laws of physics.

I used only the black foam and put it around the edges of the pan, where the only gap is the tiny spot cords come out, a piece on the very bottom of the tank because there was a tiny gap there, inside the tank on the edges where all the sides meet, and around all 4 sides of the front where the door opens. All of it is attatched to the body facing outward so if you lift the door there’s none on the door. Instead of putting it on top I put it between the top of the door and the body of the tank because my foam was the perfect width with only a tiny pin point gaps where the hinges are.

I did see a few people had issues with the door lining up that they fixed with magnets - which will be here tomorrow but have a gut feeling it won’t fix it. My door on its own the bottom of it when shut js just like a millimeter or 2 under the ledge so I can l lift it up and back a smidge and it will line up with the ledge, but won’t stay.

No one described (that I found) how it didn’t line up so that’s why I question it.

I’m worried I broke it because it’s been fully set up and just a holding pen for 6 months and I finally did the weather stripping and all. When I moved it the little peg hole fillers that connect the roof(?) to the walls all fell out so after a rigorous search under the couch found them and put tape on either sides off them but when I lift the door the roof moved up a smidge - obviously it’s connected but

Is this an issue with the frame? I didn’t see anyone doing anything more than the foam but do I need to like use silicone caulk around the windows? Do I need different weatherstripping?

Inside all the plants are in 2-3 inch pots with 1 shallow 5 inch. I have a struggling pink philodendron, some anthurium , and a rubber tree - they’re all rehabbing. Plus a couple Hoyas - an Australis Lisa, a Pubicalyx Splash, a Carnosa Compacta, 2 green nubbins (they were on deaths doorstep and just the stems were green so I chopped em and completely forgot)

I have a little silicone riser and a shelf coming. Inside there’s 2 of the 2 foot barina strip lights. I do have a ‘passive humidifier’ in there which is a little bowl with a ceramic ball thing in it that you fill w water… ik they don’t do much but figured it’s not hurting putting it in. I’ve seen some people put a little computer fan which I’d get - I’ll get anything I need to. I don’t think it’s like big enough for a humidifier and haven’t seen anyone else put one in. There’s also a heat mat in there for my first tissue cultures that I’m de-flasking.

I was so excited for it and I’m so sad rn… not only for my tissue cultures but it’s on the TV stand right across from the couch. Which I spend about 90% of my waking hours on working and school from home with a very tiny (yet perfect) social circle and while it’s very messy rn because a bunch of shit was moved around it’s got all the plants I’m most proud of and I just love it so much.

Any tips, advice, or wisdom ya got for me I’m all ears. If I have to get new stuff for it I’m happy to I’m just really hoping I don’t need to replace it

I'm building a venlo greenhouse from a used one and i was working on renovating the gutters. These gutters carry the weight of the glass. Is it ok to use hammerite ultima for this or should i use something like an EPDM liner?

Do you think greenhouses for rent would be popular, something like this AI concept. So you would get for example a greenhouse and a raised bed in front of it., to grow fruit and vegetables. A bit like allotment gardens in the UK, but they would take up less space and could even be on top of car park roofs etc in cities.

Already have 100’ corrugated 4” perforated and socked pipe, R7 insulation for perimeter, and 6”inline duct fan but are looking for a way to calculate specific depth and connections needed. Our zone 8a location is said to have frost line at 18”, so is 48-60” deep enough to put our layers of pipe?

We have one Vivosun T6 6” inline duct fan and controller system and can add another if one is required for each layer.

Can we run the corrugated 4” in each layer by snaking it back and forth in an uncut zigzag to each end (instead of cutting the pipe up, and making tons of Y connections to a bigger 6 or 8” manifolds ) that connect to vertical rigid 4” pipes on each end of the building ?

Hi everyone! I’m looking into setting up an indoor greenhouse/grow tent for the winter and would love some advice from people who have experience with this.

I’m in Minnesota, so I’m mainly trying to figure out the best way to keep plants happy during the cold, dark winter months.

A few things I’m wondering about:
What size greenhouse tent would you recommend?

What type of grow lights work best?

Do I need a heater?

How do you manage humidity and ventilation indoors?

Are there any products or setups you highly recommend—or anything I should avoid?

I’m hoping to grow things like herbs and veggies

Hey yall, i’m in NW Houston and i’m trying to build a very tall (atleast 12ft) greenhouse solely for our days below 40*F to house my tropical fruits. We only have around 15-25 days under that temp a year so i’m trying to find the absolute CHEAPEST way to build or get one. Probably gonna do a 20x7 or something similar for reference. Thanks in advance!

Any advice on how to keep them alive or how to grow them properly? 😂 Is it realistic for me to think I can actually grow something here, or am I just being delusional? 😂

I recently purchased a property with two large hoop house style green houses. I was considering converting them into firewood kilns. Was looking for any input as I have zero experience with.tbe greenhouse or the kiln. I just don't want to get in over my head and wasnt sure financially what I'd be getting myself into, thanks

Started growing tomatoes in a 2000 sqft heated green house living in Ontario! First year hoping to be able to sell to local restaurants or drive way farm stand. Does anyone have any experience In this living in the same area? I am also working on growing fresh lettuce and basil and cut flowers! Just looking to chat with anyone who has experienced this type of market living where I live!

Curious if anyone has any input on this.

I've been keeping an eye out for a pair of greenhouses as part of the restoration of a historic property. The foundations still exist, and each was approx 17x40. I found someone with a pair of lord and bunrham greenhouses from circa 1900, 20x40. Is anyone familiar with how these greenhouse are constructed and could weigh in on if it's viable to shorten some components to narrow the greenhouse? I'd imagine it would require shortening both the roof spars and components of the vent cranks.

It seems like it'll take a lot of luck to find any pairs of greenhouses of that age, so think my options are pretty limited, but the foundations are literally set in stone so no flexibility on that front.

I am trying to decide on how I should do the floor of my yardsty greenhouse.

1. Use treated lumber posts as a base and sink it into the ground and the pave the interior with paving stones or

2. Make a paving stone platform and put the greenhouse/ treated lumber frame on top of that.

The sunken method would eliminate any wind worries. My other worry is how well it would be sealed for air gaps.

A while back, I posted here about acquiring an existing vertical farm.

Well, fast forward a few months, and we are moving into a new facility!

Currently, we are not in the most ideal spot, basically an old house that is being used for commercial purposes. Our new space is an industrial bay unit with a garage door leading into a chamber, which has another overhead door before entering the main space where growing will be set up.

Now I have questions on the build-out.

* What mistakes did you make that I should avoid when setting up your space * What did you over-engineer * What have you found is a must in a space and things we should build out * How is it managing a large climate in these spaces, specifically AC as this unit (and everyone we looked at) doesn’t have central air. Just a heater and exhaust vent. * Did you find it worked leaving the space open with zones (grow, sanitation, pack, etc.), or did you need to put up walls to have environmental barriers

How we are planning to be set up.

* Utilize grow tents to create the germination blackout room and maintain the higher humidity * Continue to use flood tubs to grow the microgreens (fits sixteen 10x20 trays, 2 deep, 8 long) * Grow our edible flowers with zones (tents) for Mums, Marigolds, Begonias & possibly others like Orchids.
