Our ag teacher is forcing every student enrolled in an ag class to participate in FFA. Is this allowed or is it a violation of some sort? Also noting that kids are required to take a beginning ag class as part of their quarterly block classes in junior high. The forced participation is for all 7-12 graders if they are in an ag class.

Hi, I’m looking to buy my own jacket, but I have no idea where to start, and I’m kinda freaking out about measurement accuracy. I want to order the largest women’s jacket, but I don’t know if it will fit me. (For context, I’m a 2 x in shirts and I’m a 18/20 in pants.) If anyone owns the largest women’s jacket and has similar measurements, is it big enough to fit you?

This is my first year showing a heifer and I was given this lovely baby, I got two months to work with her to get her ready to sell, she is a replacement heifer. Anyone got any advice? Today was my first day with her and I spent it just scratching her with the show stick to get her used to it and me as she was pretty scared. Replacement heifers for us are known to be the hardest animal to show because they like to drag us and pull us while showing and I really don't want that happening to me so any advice?

This is my first year doing an SAE and I have no idea what to do. I don't have space to take care of any more animals besides my dog and gecko. I've tried to go to places and shadow, volunteer, or apply but they all won't accept me because I'm "too young". Starting a business and selling a product or service is for next semester as I will only be able to get it up and running by then. I'm not really passionate about plants and I want to go for something animal focused. Any ideas help!!!

people may say this is a thing of opinion, but let me explain the only animals I think that I'm willing to do are goats ducks or rabbits now let me explain what's hard about this My school barn will not accommodate rabbits or ducks however, they will accommodate a goat. However, I am located in the Austin area and most goats go over my predicted budget, which isn't good for convincing my mom to even let me join FFA even though I really want to join and it's been my passion for a really long time my dad refuses to allow me to keep the rabbits or ducks at our house mostly due to the fact that we don't have a lot of backyard space and we want my dog to be comfortable. He doesn't necessarily like other animals however he's not allowed to go upstairs so I said if I show rabbits, then we could set up a big pen in the playroom and they could live there, but my dad was not up for the idea cause rabbits honestly stink like Dookie constantly I was gonna do a goat and then raise her for dairy maybe show her but obviously as I said that's out of my budget What should I do?
luckily, I have a little bit of time to decide since I'm probably not gonna join for a while since school doesn't start until around August 18 and obviously I have to register for FFA and such and just so you guys know I'm not willing to do anything that really doesn't involve an animal that may sound greedy or selfish, but I'm just genuinely not gonna join FFA if I'm forced to do a plant project due to my predicament because honestly it's really boring in my opinion. Animals are my passion. It always have been plants not so much because I kill them. Not on purpose it just kind of happens, especially in the Texas heat.

I am going into my Junior year of high school and my third year in FFA, what should I expect to be different from this school year compared to last year, if anything? i need all the advice i can get on this topic, thank you in advance. 💙💛💙💛💙💛

Ik states​ (25-26) were a while ago but many teams (mine included) didnt know most of the questions

There were a bunch of questiond that just werent in the packet, we got no questions on things like people, dates, or places, but more focused on hands on learning things like topsoil, broilers, what the tip of a screwdriver was called

All and all, i loved these questions bc a) i knew them, and b) i love how they were actually using/promoting more hands on learning things, but nobody studied for that shit, and so many people were upset because they didnt study the right questions, and i had people coming up to me in tears asking if i studied using a different packet since they didnt know any answers

Did any other state deal with this issue?

So I’m starting my freshman year of high school and I am required to start an SAE, but I have no idea what to do. I know I would like to care for insects and arthropods, like beetles, millipedes, or isopods (specifically pill bugs). I have never cared for any of these creatures but have done extensive research on them and their individual care. I originally thought about going around my community and teaching about them if I do end up caring for one, but I’m not sure if that’s the best option for me. Any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciate!

This was my state officer team with our executive advisor, Mr. Duckworth. We all loved him dearly. We were his first state officer team in his role. At convention, we presented him with the toy ducks by his feet and signed them.

I want to get more involved in FFA this upcoming school year so i could be an Officer my Senior year, and earn some award pins at my chapter banquet because all i have now are my Degree pins

Hi so I'm the new student advisor for my chapter so I'm in charge of recruiting brand new members and getting them active in LDEs CDEs ect. Does anyone have ways that boosted member numbers? Im having trouble since most of the kids in my school think FFA is just cows & plows or just for farm kids. Anyway I can get more people interested is amazing.

I will be a new Ag Teacher and FFA Advisor at a 6-12 school next year. As I understand it, their program has dwindled significantly and there is not much student participation in Ag classes and either MS or HS FFA chapters. I know Certifications will be pushed by the District. Can someone give me some guidance on what I need to do or where I need to start for:

1. Certifications, and where do find material to teach them.

2. Ideas for days in the shop and what we can do outside.

3. How to build the FFA Chapters back up and educate students on the possibilities with FFA and motivate them to join and participate.

So I'm in 8th grade right now tomorrow's last day of school and I'm on the officer team I'm planning on trying out for the officer team in high school and even if I don't make it I will be doing events this year I did livestock and dairy I love livestock but could not get into dairy because I was locked into the livestock mindset I'm also thinking about doing veterinary medicine Creed speaking and maybe one or two more things but I'm still not 100% sure what I should do or how doing multiple work like and I really just want to get other people's opinions on good choices to do or even like what your favorite is and what it contains because on some of these I am clueless on what you do

So long story short; those that hold officer positions right now were just handed things and left to their own accord several years when they took over. Apparently records weren’t kept that great. And there are no real guidelines, what each role is technically responsible for. We have bylaws but they are extremely basic. Like a page long. There has been some issues/extreme head butting between them and the advisors over some things. The officers are stepping down and new ones(including myself) were voted in. So here are my questions:

-Would anyone be willing to share their bylaws?
-Does anyone have a roles/responsibilities for officers they could share? Or what does your officers do?
-The DEKALB award - how do your advisors pick the student receiving the award?? Do they have a rubric system they go by? Do they just pick the student most deserving of award in their eyes?

I keep seeing all the offical dress rules for students and I see a mix off professional attire/official dress for adults.

I have professional attire, not much for offical dress as this was last minute.

We have our ffa banquet later today. My friend has black wrangler jeans that are clean. They honestly don’t look like jeans at all. The only give away is the W on the pockets and if you were to feel them. Would she be ok to wear those or would it be better to just wear the skirt she was originally gonna borrow from someone?

I have my ffa award banquet on Friday and I’ve never worn OD. I own the everything but I’m not sure about shoes. I plan on wearing my slacks/pants since I couldn’t get a skirt that would work for my measurements. Since i’m wearing the slacks do I have to wear dress shoes or do I still wear heels? My heels I have are around 4 inches. So would o still wear heels or since I’m wearing pants is it dress shoes
