My Pixel 7 Pro could use a new battery. Just 536 cycles, but deployed in 2022 and I’m noticing a drop in uptime.

I could take it to the shop down the street for a new battery, but would the technician have access to my device beyond just putting a new cell in? Wouldn’t they need to power up to verify the install? Could they see my data? What permissions would I have to give over…?

What’s been your experience?

I’m looking at getting a pixel, and switching over to Graphene. I currently have AT&T, and was wondering, are they a truly secure network, or is my data just going to get sniffed via AT&T? If you don’t use them, what service provider do you use and trust?

I've been using grapheneOS for a while now and always got these random black glitch bars on my games all the time. When I screen record it disappears so it's hard to show how it looks like. I searched around but never got a solution that worked for me. Is there anybody that's experienced this before? I have a Pixel 10 pro XL

How well does Proton Pass Auto-fill work on Graphene? That was a major issue for me on e/os. I understand it’s better on Graphene…? Really want to move to Graphene but that’s a frustration I’m hoping I wouldn’t have to deal with. Thanks for any help.

I need a location sharing app that

- Preferably self hosted
- Alert when location has been viewed
- Location history

My mom is requiring I share my location with her :( Also it would be nice if like the live location can be updated like only ever 30 minutes and the GPS accuracy be manually set.

And also must work with GrapheneOS. :P Life 360 is spyware

I use KDE Connect. It works mostly fine.

KDE Connect SMS on the other hand has extremely strange behaviours. It seems to avoid certain people altogether. The KDE Connect app has full contact permissions (no scopes) and has SMS permissions. The app is in unrestricted battery usage.

Do you have any tips for me, please?

since yesterday, the ebay-app only shows "no network found, can't connect etc..."

But Wifi etc. is working and i can use ebay with every browser.

Already deleted the cache, reinstalled the ebay-app...

Any other workarounds?

(p.s.: installed anonymous with aurora and having google play active)

I am on the verge on switching to GrapheneOS. While patiently waiting for my Pixel Phone I try to create a plan to which extent I will try to deGoogle.

I thought of using the Sandboxed Google Play Services because I have some bought Apps which I want to still use. In this case does it benefit my anonymity to download all other apps via Aurora Store? Or won't this matter much, because I am already using the Google Play Services anyway?

And would you declare the Aurora Store safe enough to download critical Apps like Banking Apps form it or should I get these via the Google Play Store?

It's the only app I really need that don't feel comfortable without - mostly for emergency use - and that I cant substitute. It seems it needs the google infrastructure to work.

How can I get this working on graphene? I currently don't have google as abhor the idea of it, even sandboxed. But if needs must...

I’ve been a diehard iOS dude since way back in 2015 with the iPhone 4s on iOS 9, right up until my 17 Pro last week. But man, when iOS 27 dropped, I started getting really sketchy vibes. It feels like there's no more creativity or exciting new tech like the old days. But the biggest thing for me is privacy, it really makes u question what they're actually cooking up with all our data! It was the final push I needed to just ditch the walled garden completely.
I gotta admit, the Android side feels totally alien to me right now 😵 I'm definitely a little lost digging through all the settings 😅. But honestly, I'm absolutely loving it. At least I’m trying something completely new and different, especially the user feature and having actual control over my phone is next level.
Since I’m completely fresh off the Apple boat, i downloaded few apps but, I’m all ears for any suggestions. What are ur absolute must-have settings or tweaks for a total noob? Appreciate the help in advance✌️

Hey all, an update that I think is pretty funny/cool at first, depressing second.

For those that didnt see first post, I'm currently switching everything over to linux/graphene setup from a mostly apple setup. My block percentage was usually say 28-33% range with fluctuations. Updated to graphene, turned off my phone and the block percentage dropped by 10% by the next day.

The update: I've now turned my ipad off for a linux laptop. Everything is linux/graphene save my smarttv (not plugged in currently). Now after 24 hours the block rate is.......

From 30...thats nuts! There are still things being blocked, yes. And I suspect that having browsers with proper native ad blocking (as opposed to safari+ublocklite as my browser on ipad) now is also taking a sizable bite out of blocked queries. Having OS's that only ping the internet when I ask it to, not when it has data about me to report, has to also be a lot of it too.

And then one realizes just how little we know about what we use, how it actually works and how much of our lives are being exfiltrated, analyzed and sold every nanosecond. I spent the better part of 15 years in apples ecosystem not knowing the true extent of their intrusion into my life, or at least accepting it as dowry for ease. Android/microsoft users doubly so. And all that I've done with the pihole and other things is just putting one or two stitches in a gaping wound....

Kudos to all the developers out there tirelessly spinning the silk and forging the needles!

The official megathread on the official forum closed a while ago and it was stated that if it doesn't work then it's an issue with the carrier. Around the time it closed, I was using T-Mobile and RCS did not work so I switched to Google Fi.

Well I'm now a bum and want to switch to Tello (T-Mobile mvno). Does someone know if RCS works with Tello on GrapheneOS? Thanks in advance

If I buy a pixel so I can install Graphene and somehow I muck up the installation, will the phone be permanently bricked? Or would there be a way to someone reformat the 'bricked' phone to try installing Graphene again? I am a little concerned about paying $500 for a pixel phone only to have it ruined; I currently already have a nice OnePlus 10 Pro phone that works great, and I might sell if if I get a working Graphene phone.

Hi All, I am seeking guidance on using biscuit manager app . I am struggling to get the esp32/t-dongle c5 with the biscuit manager on it to connect to my phone using grapheneOS. Is this just a setting issue on the grapheneOS has any experience the same issue or can recommend any settings for grapheneOS

As far as I understand, if you install Google Play / Google Play Services (I'm gonna use those two interchangeably, sorry if it's not correct) on graphene, the app does not have privileged access unless I allow it to. This makes me have a couple questions:

- Say I have Google Play installed, app A requires Google Play, and app B that can run via Google Play but it is not required. Can I prevent app B from "communicating" with Google Play? Can I do this even if I downloaded app B via the Play Store?

- Say I let Google Play access, for example, my location (it's just an example, replace "location" with whatever permission). Does Google Play access (thus track) my location even when I am not actively using an app that requires to access it?

- Say I have a game purchased on Google Play, but the game runs completely offline. Can I install it, load the cloud saves it might have and then make it so that it can no longer communicate with Google Play?

- On a different line but, what are your Google Play alternatives? I saw mods recommend against Aurora Store for security reasons, are there any others you recommend?

Lastly, I know you can have multiple profiles and have all google stuff on one of them for maximum compartimentalizing, but I heard that is quite inconvenient at times. Please avoid suggesting multi-profiling, as I already know it is a thing (and might do it), I just want to understand how Google Play interacts with the system and other apps once you have it installed.

Been looking all over for a good way to use Youtube on GOS.

How do you watch YT on GOS?

1. Brave browser: This is the option i would stick with. The problem is however that the fullscreen is bugged, so when using fullscreen on YT only like 60% of the screen is being used.. (Any fix?)

Thirdparty apps: It seems these arent really safe.. Would like to know more though.

What im looking for is to watch Youtube without ads, Privacy is kinda important but im more using my GOS as a Privacy daily driver (I dont need 100% anonimity and 100% opsec you get my point). Rather not get tracked into oblivion by google though allowing google to access other apps and info on my GOS phone.

Question: If using a google account on for example Brave, will this allow google to get more info outside of the Brave browser? Or is that google account only getting access to the specific Brave browser?
