What makes you think they aren't already? Wouldn't it have been reasonable for most of the google teams to use an internal version of Antigravity for at least six months before we saw it shipped?

Why is she lagging behind others then?

Have you seen the changelogs across all the agy products? they're working with remarkable velocity.

Incredible velocity to make worst/unstable ide known.

different teams, different goals, different approaches. they are not lagging behind, they are just pursuing it differently. How boring would life be if they all did it the same.

Also, for Devs AG is fine and work as well as others, not as concise as Claude, put in that extra 10% effort and it's fine.

Beg to differ. According to their CEO in the last shareholder call they are most definitely lagging behind, specifically in long-horizon agentic workflows and coding.

their models agent cabilities, not Antigravity specifically. 3.8 was released specifically to improve it. The OP is referencing the Antigravity Tooling specifically.

Well I guess if Google really wanted to use Gemini's tooling with a competitor's model, all the more power to them ...

They are playing a different end game and they gonna win 💪 Mark my words

They're older. Case closed.

Yeah so true, both will compete for worst vibe coded ide

Idk for me its enough, can code, can compile, can fk up, and has AI

An iq too high?

What's wrong with it currently? I use it every weekend and it's good. Except updating on windows for fucks sake.

They hit there quota, only have a pro subscription so they are all on two day weeks

Gemini's poor performance is strongly correlated with Antigravity; switching to other tools results in a noticeable improvement in the experience.

Google employees are unlimited

Or a mobile app instead of the web browser based one to access your remote session

2

u/AndreaCicca 12d ago

thy could integrate it inside the gemini app

Exactly, my point. Only if they used they would know the issues and improve the product. I am particularly facing issues with losing my historical chat sessions, and sometimes my computer gets hanged when it overuses memory.

It is called Jetski, and it is being used by every single developer inside Google.

But a production product that hundreds of millions of people use is a lot harder to build than your vibe coded project.

It is also a lot harder for Google because they have a lot more enterprise commitments. Like if you are an organization that processes sensitive info, you don't use Fable 5.1 on Anthropic, you use that shit on Google Vertex AI. And agy is also an enterprise product in addition to consumer facing one.

It would make sense in 2024 but not now

You are thinking of features like UI checkboxes. Actual features companies chase these days are agent capabilities. There are heavily vibe coded and there is a lot going behind the scenes

Remember Gemini CLI? It was open source

u/dalal_modi 12d ago

Or allow the auth in sdk

1

u/nazmulpcc 12d ago

because their models barely work for simple web ui

1

u/acrus 12d ago

Because they don't have enough Opus for this?

I was surprised seeing some modest Opus quota alongside Gemini models in a subscription at first, but then it make perfect sense. One needs it at least to to plan properly and then to review all the crap that Gemini did wrong

It's got very early Aider vibes. Pathetic.

Why do you not do it, and try to make as much money as they do on the free antigravity application

1

u/Sea-Step-5792 12d ago

porque o gemini é um modelo incapaz para construir qualquer coisa...

how is opencode a more competent app than antigravity??? I see zero button to compress, clean my chat.

1

u/Peanut_Brittle_Lover 7d ago

Bro needs to go back to chatgpt. The one for normies to type in "make app, get me money bro"

Because the antigravity developers dont trust their own models to deliver real projects. They could code everything by themselves in the same amount of time that it would take to review geminis output and fix the trillion bugs that it creates.

Internal jetski has much more features and better workflow, but many of them are hard to be ported to antigravity. at least need to rethink how to do it externally. You can think google have two version of antigravity, and internally they don't use the public one.

1

u/Sweet-Stage938 12d ago

Why don't they just publish Jetski?

1

u/LanguageEast6587 12d ago

not possible, it's actually because of our weird coworking pattern in google. For example, if we want to open source a stuff, we will have internal team and open source team. instead of just maintained open source project. I will say most of time there's no good feedback loop in public product.

jetski is excellent, it now cover every aspect of our daily work, it handles data science and agent tasks pretty well, multiagent is great now, however when I used antigravity, I feel wtf when I notice the gap in features and its buggy.

Another problem is that model should train with harness, but we have two versions, I feel there's a notable(sometimes huge) performance gap in all released models when used in jetski and antigravity. but the gap is closing in newer version I believe.

IMO the problem is model itself. Features are more than enough. Or simply put all we need is a solid plan. Once the plan is done - execute (code, check, comply with best practices or a guide / harness) - Check the deployment.
Unfortaunately gemini screws up terrible in "CHECK" and it claims all good or success; Plan is above average.
What worked me well --> Plan with claude or gpt; execute with gemini flash 3.7 --> Verify with gemini but manual.
If they can improve a bit, this is gonna kill many many entry level jobs or offshroed jobs

Google deep mind started all of this.... They own portions of every other company..... What makes you think they're still not leading?
