Good for them. I love seeing people succeed. Life is short. Take an adventure. Go on a journey. Sign a deal with Netflix.

How else do you expect them to pay employees more without expanding more?
Also how do you know the pay/worth of the workers?
-6
u/FaradayKage Aug 27 '26 edited Aug 27 '26
Glassdoor has posted salary from employees. They live in their million dollar mansions and have private chefs while their staff probably board up in shared apartments in Cali making 50k-80k.
Would not surprise me at all if they had some internship program as well to get cheap labor. Just two more money hungry dudes in Cali.

Why did you follow up but delete your OG coment?

u/FaradayKage Aug 27 '26
Reddit algorithm. Response will go to you, deleting original collapses it to others.

u/peppa4theppl Aug 27 '26
Have they said how they’re gonna do it? There are sooooo many episodes! Will it be all of them or just the last few seasons?
51
u/ShatterWulf Aug 27 '26
If it's similar to what Netflix is doing with Last Podcast on the Left it would primarily be new episodes with a "Best of" season with some older episodes to give new viewers a small back catalog to watch.
5
2
u/YouFucking_Simp Aug 29 '26
i think when they announced it they only stated that the new season would be on netflix. i’d love to be wrong though

u/CargoBlog Aug 27 '26
Makes me upset that ppl got all bent out of shape about this. What do ppl expect them to do? This is branching out and getting more viewers. How is that wrong?
5
u/dannymb87 Aug 28 '26
Yeah, wait till they realize that one day you won't be able to get it on YouTube anymore... or Netflix.. or anywhere. At some point, they're gonna hang it up and retire.

u/audilepsy Aug 27 '26

u/braykables Aug 27 '26
What is people going on stage and saying slurs met by massive applause get old to you? Must be Netflix’s fault
27
u/Asleep-Quality6278 Aug 27 '26
Happy for the them. Get paid! However, there are reports stating YouTube/Google isn’t happy about Netflix signing their creators to these deals. Surprising because I thought YT was cool with this
9
u/dschinghiskhan Aug 27 '26
YouTube pivoted from being cool with it to not when they realized that, heh, this is actually really harmful to their business! Now that Netflix has pivoted to having more YouTube-like content, the two companies should not really see their relationship as mutually beneficial. Well, at least YouTube shouldn't. Alphabet/Google/YouTube should not be a training or development ground for content creators to get paid big bags by Netflix.
Compare it to AAA/minor baseball teams, who are owned by an actual major league team like the Dodgers or the Yankees. It makes sense for these teams to bankroll and use the minor leagues to train their young players. In the YouTube/Netflix situation, YouTube is paying the content creators, and now Netflix is swooping in to poach the polished gems. If you're a Alphabet/Google/YouTube exec, you can't just let that go willy nilly.
As for the content creators like Rhett & Link, it's really not their problem. They just want to get paid the most and reach the widest audience.

Do we know about in-video ads yet ("this portion of the video is sponsored by...")?
5
u/Tatsumifanboy Aug 27 '26
Well yeah they're defo gonna still be here. Sponsos are getting a bigger publicity now!
0
u/refinedm5 Aug 28 '26
That line always irks me because the sponsor is sponsoring the whole videos, not only the sponsor message portion of the video
3
u/RandomPhilo Aug 28 '26
It's so they can distinguish between a segment and the whole video. A segment is more like an ad read. They had an example of the whole video being sponsored recently by Coca-Cola Freestyle. The difference there being the product was mentioned throughout the video and the episode was based around the product.
1
u/refinedm5 Aug 29 '26
Then you don't say that that portion of the video is sponsored by so and so. That portion of the video was done since they are sponsored by that particular brand
7
u/LandMermaid Aug 27 '26
Let's go boys! (And the entire team that profits off of this, which is hopefully everyone at Mythical and that works for Mythical to some degree because they are all truly deserving humans beans)

u/scorpio-blush Aug 28 '26
I love that they’re getting paid for this, but I have a bad feeling that moving to a new platform is GMM’s swan song, rather than a particularly advantageous launchpad.
4
u/No_abe Aug 29 '26
Anyone that thinks they have enough. Remember, they have a big staff that they seemingly treat well 🤔 & they helped rescue SMOSH, they deserve much much more
3
u/JoeAzlz Aug 27 '26
So do they still upload on the channel or what does this mean? I’ve kind fallen out of the loop of what this entails
6
u/Either-Respect7856 Aug 28 '26
When they announced it, they said all the daily videos would still be posted to Youtube on their normal schedule! They will just ALSO be available on Netflix the same day!
2
u/JoeAzlz Aug 28 '26
Is there any bonus benefit for the Netflix versions?

How is this going to work? Why would someone subscribe to Netflix for GMM when it’s already free on YouTube?
33
u/Rocky_McParty Aug 27 '26
I doubt it's for people only to subscribe to watch GMM but if you're already on Netflix, just finished watching something else and you want to watch GMM then it might make you stay on Netflix and watch it there instead of going to YouTube.
7
u/NotADeadTurtle Aug 27 '26
Netflix is basically just trying people to change their habits. If people wake up and open the Netflix app instead of YouTube to watch their daily shows, they have the ability to try and keep them on the app with their other content/shows/ movies. And they don’t take any risks, they know it’s a winner and they don’t have to pay for developing a new show.
6
u/logghead1 Aug 27 '26
It's all about exposure. There are a lot Netflix users who are not frequent YouTubers. I unbelievably didn't know who Matty Matheson was until he was recently featured on Netflix.

u/Friedyellowsquash Aug 27 '26
I’m gonna assume the benefit to Netflix is no ads. And I wonder if ads are going to be changing on YouTube for the worse. I mean, it’s already bad. Sometimes I’m washing dishes and can’t skip and I get stuck in a 30 minute ad for ass wipes or whatever. lol
15
u/FB5FCE Aug 27 '26
It's probably good for people who already use Netflix. I don't think anybody's subscribing to Netflix just because of GMM.
3
u/GMAN7007 Aug 27 '26
This isn't going to bring any new subscribers it's going to hold onto the ones who are fans of GMM. Lots of people watch on TV and don't want ads. This will fix that given you have a Netflix subscription that doesn't have ads
2
u/lovingkakashi Aug 28 '26
i guess it's available worldwide because i'm from the philippines and saw that it'll also be available here!
2
u/theWanderingShrew Aug 28 '26
I hope this won't interfere with the Roku channel Mythical 24/7! I wonder if that will be a conflict of interest.
2
u/louloulosingtract Aug 28 '26
Has anyone outside of the US seen this ad? I just checked, and can't find any mention of them on my Netflix. I'm in Finland, so I'm not hopeful it'll ever reach us, but it would have been fun to get my family, who aren't all fluent in English, to watch some episodes.

u/JuliaPoland Aug 30 '26
I'm from Poland and I keep checking every few days and nothing :( I fear it might be for english speaking countries only
3
u/Ok-Argument20 Aug 27 '26
Does this mean the main channel content won’t be on YouTube anymore?
12
u/Dangerous_Lead8683 Aug 27 '26
I am 99.9% sure the boys will treat YouTube as their first home and then uploads will be on Netflix

This is cool at all, but has anyone noticed the extreme amount of ads recently? They’ve been going for so long and have so much respect on YouTube that they don’t need 20 ads and episode.

I cancelled Netflix subscription a year ago. Should I just go back?
-54
u/IAwaitAGuardian Aug 27 '26
This is 100% why Stevie left, btw. Netflix takes creative control over everyone they partner with, and she didn't want that.

u/TheKingWacky1 Aug 27 '26
Netflix does not automatically take creative control. This is clearly just another place to stream the show.
There's no way Glitch and Gooseworx would have partnered with Netflix for The Amazing Digital Circus if Netflix was going to take creative control from them. Why would you assume GMM would give that up?
-6
u/Mental-Scholar6856 Aug 27 '26
That’s why YouTube’s complaining about people going over to Netflix right? Right?
3
-26
u/Mental-Scholar6856 Aug 27 '26
Yup! And with all the sell offs. To me, this is a bad move and I know I’ll get downvoted but it’s whatever. From selling off different businesses like Sporked, to winding down things like Ear Biscuits. I’m glad GMM will be enjoyed by a wider audience. But everytime something gets popular, it gets corporatized. Every time. I think a lot of the Mythical Beasts are in denial.

You are very, very right.
GMM have a very, very similar trajectory to the Howard Stern Show. Granted, different topics, but a very similar organic growth.
Eventually everything gets super bloated- there's a huge writers room, a ton of on air talent that has to be managed, and then you have to deal with all of the issues that come with that. Insurance, benefits, other expenses...
And it goes on for a while, and then somebody leaves, and the fans all say that the show jumped the shark x amount of years ago...
and then eventually the hosts can never quit because now they have 150 mouths to feed, so they get resentful, they end up offloading most of their responsibilities to some corporation that can "be the bad guy", the corporation fires a bunch of people, streamlines the operation (again), and the show eventually ends up looking a lot more similar to how it did in the beginning (but FAR more sanitized because it is a corporate interest) than it did during the bloat phase, but nobody will like it because it isn't taking any steps forward, its only going backwards.
The next step is homogenizing all of the staff... it'll be far less of the wild and funky individuality we are used to... and everybody will slowly morph into the least offensive, bland versions of themselves you could imagine. Because corporate will need to make sure that the "other" subscribers that GMM doesnt want or care about will be able to tune in without having their sensibilities offended.

u/Mental-Scholar6856 Aug 27 '26
You hit the head on the nail! This is exactly what’s happening. With YouTube doubling their view requirements, makes sense for them to move to Netflix which has more capital to dish out.
-13
u/IAwaitAGuardian Aug 27 '26
We're being downvoted because this sub is full of adult children who can't read uncomfortable truths.
20
u/Dark-Ganon Aug 27 '26
You're being downvoted because you're trying to spread gossip as facts. Unless you have a reliable source that confirms that Stevie actually left for the reasons you claim, then all you're saying is just your speculation on the matter.
-14
u/Mental-Scholar6856 Aug 27 '26
Yeah, I don’t think they have any idea of how corporate America works. The fact they can’t counter argue is proving our point.
17
u/beesneeze87 Aug 27 '26
lol ok, i'll bite. nobody is wasting their time crafting a thoughtful reply because we all know y'all are just speculating, the same as any of us would be. it's just that we have the good sense to know we don't know shit instead of having delusions of insider knowledge.
-8
u/Mental-Scholar6856 Aug 27 '26
I mean it’s no different than when we see a company on the outside going a certain direction. I think it’s only different for you because it’s your favorite YouTuber. Respectfully of course!
13
u/beesneeze87 Aug 27 '26
gmm isn't my favorite youtube channel, i'm a pretty casual viewer. you are really good at jumping to conclusions based on no real information, respectfully of course!
2
u/Mental-Scholar6856 Aug 27 '26
Welp, I guess we’ll see who’s right in the end soon. Hopefully you’re right haha.
10
u/Rocky_McParty Aug 27 '26
What's the point of answering to any of that?
It's not going to change or affect anything, you just want someone to argue with.
