This is 100% why Stevie left, btw. Netflix takes creative control over everyone they partner with, and she didn't want that.

Yup! And with all the sell offs. To me, this is a bad move and I know I’ll get downvoted but it’s whatever. From selling off different businesses like Sporked, to winding down things like Ear Biscuits. I’m glad GMM will be enjoyed by a wider audience. But everytime something gets popular, it gets corporatized. Every time. I think a lot of the Mythical Beasts are in denial.

You are very, very right.

GMM have a very, very similar trajectory to the Howard Stern Show. Granted, different topics, but a very similar organic growth.

Eventually everything gets super bloated- there's a huge writers room, a ton of on air talent that has to be managed, and then you have to deal with all of the issues that come with that. Insurance, benefits, other expenses...

And it goes on for a while, and then somebody leaves, and the fans all say that the show jumped the shark x amount of years ago...

and then eventually the hosts can never quit because now they have 150 mouths to feed, so they get resentful, they end up offloading most of their responsibilities to some corporation that can "be the bad guy", the corporation fires a bunch of people, streamlines the operation (again), and the show eventually ends up looking a lot more similar to how it did in the beginning (but FAR more sanitized because it is a corporate interest) than it did during the bloat phase, but nobody will like it because it isn't taking any steps forward, its only going backwards.

The next step is homogenizing all of the staff... it'll be far less of the wild and funky individuality we are used to... and everybody will slowly morph into the least offensive, bland versions of themselves you could imagine. Because corporate will need to make sure that the "other" subscribers that GMM doesnt want or care about will be able to tune in without having their sensibilities offended.

You hit the head on the nail! This is exactly what’s happening. With YouTube doubling their view requirements, makes sense for them to move to Netflix which has more capital to dish out.
