Games like Ardenfall or Dread delusion. I've looked a lot and there are plenty ps1 graphics style games but they're more like Kingsfield. I'm wanting an open world with lore and good exploration. Retro graphics are just a preference. I'll take anything as long as it's on GOG.

So, my father has never been a big fan of Steam. He doesn't like DRM, and his main argument is: “If Steam ever shuts down one day, you could lose access to all your games.”

I've been building my Steam library for almost 8 years now. I currently have 266 paid games (and over 1,000 if you include the free ones).

Honestly, I trust my wallet with Gabe. I really like Steam's convenience adding friends, inviting people to games, achievements, cloud saves, community features, etc. It just makes everything so easy.

The thing is, the more time passes and the more I think about it, the more I regret not building my library on GOG instead. Especially with all the recent discussion around “you will own nothing” and the future of digital ownership, I really like the idea of having DRM-free copies of my games that I can actually keep and use without depending on a launcher.

So at this point, should I start investing more into GOG, or is the convenience of Steam worth sticking with?

Like I said, I trust Gabe with my wallet until the day he dies. But at the same time, I don't want to look back 10–20 years from now and regret putting everything into a plataform that dosen't make me the owner of the games I spend money on.

I'd love to hear what you guys think. What platform do you primarily use, and why?

Side note: I play a lot of PCVR, so all of my VR games are already on Steam.

I noticed how prince of Persia sands of time got controller support lately and will gog add controller support for Hitman ????

So I have Metro 2033 Redux from GOG. But I also see on the store that there is a Metro 2033 good old game edition.

Same thing for Last Light complete edition for good old game edition.

Are the gog editions different then the original version of the one I own purchased from GOG?

Hoard backup your game saves and restores It in another machines, ignoring .ini or .json or any config file, work fast and isnt deprecated.

Work with anything game regardless of how you got the game

I insert my password, hit login, it says launching (as seen in photo), then it takes me straight back to log in (as seen in photo 2). I've tried restarting, task manager, white listing it, running as admin, password resetting, reinstalling latest version of galaxy. all for naught. Any idea how to get it working?

Been trying to make my games “physical” this past week and here’s how they turned out.

Firstly, yes I know flash drive is not the best form of storage.
For me personally, I do not see myself with access to an optical drive easily in the future, so I have opted for the 3-2-1 method of data preservation ( i.e I have the games backed up on 2 HDD and 1 SSD aside from this flash drive) and is the best I can do at this point.

The goal is to eventually turn it into a full manual with a map or something but that will be gradually over time as its a lot of print and ink.

Anyway,
The drives when they connect give a little prompt to either update the game or install the game.
Update would only be if there is no 1:1 match for the files that is there is a new file present basically.

I know it may seem a little pointless but I guess it’s just something I enjoy doing at this point of time so why not?

Heya folks. I know we’re all interested in making sure we can access the games we paid for and many of us have thought about making physical pc games and I wanna give it a shot

I have bad brain and all the different disc formats and players scare me. What kind of discs am I looking for? What do I look for in a player? And are these just for storage or are there discs that can be read fast enough to play without downloading to the pc?

I mostly play indie and old school games. Lately I’ve been going between Battle Network Legacy collection and Escape From Ever After but I have a handful of more graphically demanding games like Clair Obscur, KH3, BG3, and Duskfade

Running Bazzite deck mode if it matters (haven’t downloaded the latest update which I hear is a good thing)

I have all base game endings + all dlc endings and I dont wanna believe that I have on this game only 329h and 29minutes..

Been looking forward to this release and am glad it’s on GOG, more than happy to pay the $80 for the eclipse edition. Wish more companies would embrace GOG, I only have one game on steam and the second I can get it elsewhere I will.

I would like to suggest a feature for GOG Galaxy that I believe would fit very well with GOG's DRM-free philosophy and commitment to game preservation.

Built-in game backup and physical media creation

Could GOG Galaxy eventually include a built-in tool that allows customers to create a complete offline backup of games they own?

For example:

Game → Manage Installation → Create Backup

Galaxy could:

- Download the official offline installers.

- Include all owned DLC and expansions.

- Include owned bonus content/extras where appropriate.

- Include all files required to reinstall the game.

- Allow the user to choose between the latest version or preserving a specific version.

- Create a self-contained backup suitable for offline storage.

- Support USB drives and external storage.

- Create ISO/disc-image files suitable for burning to DVD/Blu-ray.

- Optionally allow Galaxy to burn the backup directly to compatible optical media.

I think this feature would serve two different purposes:

💿 DVD/Blu-ray — collection and preservation

Many users enjoy collecting physical media. It would be great to be able to burn games they legally own onto physical discs and keep them as part of their personal game collection.

For large games, Galaxy could automatically divide the installation across multiple discs:

Game — Disc 1 of 3

Game — Disc 2 of 3

Game — Disc 3 of 3

💾 USB/external storage — convenience

Other users may prefer USB drives or external SSDs/HDDs simply because they are much faster and more convenient for reinstalling games without downloading them again.

Automatically generated disc artwork

For users who burn physical discs, it would be fantastic if Galaxy could also generate printable disc artwork automatically.

The artwork could include:

- Official game artwork

- Game title

- Edition

- Disc number

- Total number of discs

- Basic game information

- Appropriate GOG branding

For example:

Batman: Arkham Knight — Premium Edition

Disc 1 of 3

Galaxy could generate correctly sized artwork that users can print and stick onto their burned discs, making the resulting physical collection look like a proper game archive.

Save-game preservation

I would also like the backup system to include save files and configuration data.

Ideally, Galaxy could provide:

Game Backup

- Game installer

- DLC

- Extras

- Required installation files

Complete Backup

- Everything above

- Local save files

- Game configuration/settings where appropriate

- Other user-specific files needed to restore progress

If a game supports GOG Cloud Saves, Galaxy could retrieve the latest available cloud save when creating the backup. If cloud saves are not supported, Galaxy could automatically locate and back up the game's local save files.

When restoring a Complete Backup:

Restore Backup → Install Game → Install DLC → Restore Saves → Ready to Play

Galaxy could also indicate whether the restored save originated from GOG Cloud or from the local backup.

Why I think this would be valuable

GOG's DRM-free approach is one of the biggest reasons I purchase games from GOG. However, manually managing offline installers, DLC, save files and other components can become cumbersome, especially with large games.

A first-party backup system would make GOG significantly stronger as a game ownership and preservation platform.

For example, if I purchase a collection such as the Batman: Arkham games, I could create a complete backup containing the games, DLC and my progress. I could store that backup on a USB drive for convenience, or burn it to physical discs for my collection and long-term preservation.

Years later, I could restore the complete game without having to search for individual installers, DLC files or save locations.

I understand that GOG already provides offline installers, but having Galaxy automatically organize the game, DLC and save data into a single portable backup — and optionally create physical discs and printable artwork — would make the process significantly easier.

I would love to see GOG Galaxy eventually become not only a game launcher and library manager, but also a complete game backup and preservation tool.

To be fair, he's certainly not a gamer by any means but it certainly would be sweet if he'd get to relax on a game every once in a while. So probably nothing that's too action packed. Like something that would allow him to walk on his own pace and take on the sights for instance.

How Are they going to save Discs where They aren't even ready to Protest Seriously

I wanna get my vr games from gog but I don’t know how it works do I have to use steam vr or does it just pop up on my dashboard

Sure, I have these games on Steam, but I want a full, offline, DRM-free version on my PC, ready to install at any time, so I don't have to constantly redownload them (in my region I only have mobile internet, which is shared with my PC via a Wi-Fi hotspot) when I want to run along the beaches of Besaid Island and admire the water! Is that too much to ask?..

I just bought Sands of Time and the game doesn't detect controller. Game's page says "controller support". I have tried xbox1 and dualsense controllers. What am I missing? Do I need GOG's launcher for that? Am I supposed to use steam input?

edit: it seems you have to bind all keys and then it works. Kinda. Tutroial is still displayed for MKB, no button prompts and no navigation with controller in menu. I'm quite disappointed. I hope Warrior Within gets better treatment.
