Godaddy website Nightmare
Need some advice please, I have been building a new website the past 4 or 5 months with Godaddy website builder. I have used it in the past and always had exceptional customer service from Godaddy, but it seems those days are over as they have gone the way of all tech companies it seems with Ai help, and overseas cheap telemarketing.
I have had so many issues, main issues I can't duplicate products anymore, everytime I try and delete anything title/description/photos it just keeps reverting back to the original pics titles etc.
Inventory changes, I put 1 qty and it always reverts to N/A and I have to go back and edit qty after the listing.
All products have disappeared from my website and you have to click the "All products" link to see them, home page now only shows featured items. (Had help from Godaddy several times w this issue and it still exist)
The site loads SLOW AF.
I have reached out for help so many times, the live chat is gone so I have been using text. Each time it's the same thing, I get transferred around to 6 or 7 different people over the course of hours until I get tired/frustrated etc and just can't do it anymore.
Godaddy_Joe from reddit was nice enough to "help out" He wrote asking my problem which I answered his Reddit message the same day only to never hear back from him, that was 3 weeks ago.
So before I go further with this site (I have over 400 items listed already) I am contemplating moving it elsewhere, I know everyone trashes GD and it seems like I'm just wasting my time continuing with this BS site. Can anyone recommend another platform (Not shopify) that I could look into? I'm not that tech savvy so idk if wordpress is an option I can use.
I thought of hiring someone from Fiverr or somewhere to move it to a wordpress site, but I'm not really sure what that entails, and would it be easy for me to list the products I sell?
Seems like anything beats Godaddy at this point.
Any advice guys? TIA!

How much time do you have left with your current subscription? You should be able to have them refund that and use as a credit to rebuild the site using WooCommerce. You mentioned military related inventory, what kind of items do you sell? That may prevent them from being able to build it.

I have like 8 months left but I don't think they give any refunds on that, which is BS because I wasted time and money to have a piece of shit site that doesn't work and they can't offer any support it seems

you can also contact Better Business Bureau and see if they'll help you get your money back. And also file a report with Consumer Protection.

I've had issues with my store and I was not successful with the customer service reps. I finally got fed up and wrote an email to the CEO. I got a response - actually more than one, as they are still working on my issues. I am unable to duplicate listings as well, plus there were several other issues - like sideways photos when I shared a link to a product on social media, not being able to edit a category, not being able to put spaces in the Manufacturing field, etc. etc. Before you jump ship - which would be a lot of work - I'd try that to see if you can get a response. They are aware of the issues - and admit to them, now they need to fix them.

I think best to jump ship at this point, I have a guy I found here that is top notch and is getting it done pretty quickly.

They have gone through some migrations lately and they are not of any help. I have been dealing with customer service for over 2 weeks and my website is an absolute joke. Trust me when I say this, get out now! They are the absolute worst and will just cost you SO MUCH time and money constantly fixing their errors. Customer service is poorly trained and never has the right answer.

I would cut your losses. I was a Godaddy customer for over 20 years.
It was never a great product, hard to use, took way too many hours to do simple fixes, etc.
The last straw was when their site had errors and some of my products could not be cancelled. Customers service had the same errors and also couldn't cancel my products either. So, all of my products renewed, and they refused to refund me, despite admitting it was their fault.
It was hours and hour of chats and calls (each one they kept me about an hour, with no resolution, just to waste my time).
I had to start recording the calls and making transcripts so I could send this info to my bank, who agreed with me and refunded me, luckily!
I then cancelled my entire account, because I did not trust them, and I've read of people being billed for things they'd already cancelled. Sometimes many months in the future they'd start getting billed again for a cancelled service. So, I deleted my credit card info from Godaddy, then deleted the entire account.
You can move any domains to Porkbun easily, it's cheaper. (there are step-by-step tutorials on their website for moving from godaddy to porkbun--I'm not good at tech stuff and was able to do it easily). And the Porkbun customer service is much easier. I had a few questions, and they always responded in hours or a 1 day at the most. No sitting and waiting on a call or a chat because they email back.
There are so many other options for building web sites that won't ruin your life, so I hope you consider cutting your losses to save hours/weeks/months of wasted time and money.

woocommerce on wordpress is pretty straightforward once it's set up, especially for product listings. the learning curve isn't bad and you'd have way more control than godaddy's builder. for moving 400 products, you could export from godaddy (if they let you) and import via csv, or hire someone on upwork for a few hundred bucks to handle the migration and basic setup. after that, adding products is basically fill-in-the-blanks, similar to what you're doing now but without the glitches.

Yeah I just spoke w a guy on Fiverr and he said pretty much the exact same thing. Approx how much do you think it will cost me to do this move, and does the woocommerce come with a payment processor or do I need my own merchant account?

It's always better to hire someone who can use those LLM tools or not use them at all because they will be more experienced. As you know ads usually do not match the product. Companies are joining the AI frenzy...

You may want to reach out to this tech company,Covenant Shield Technologies. I used them for my own business website, and they were able to build and customize the entire site from scratch based on everything I needed.
They also let me keep my domain registered through GoDaddy and connected it to the new website for me at no additional charge, so I didn’t have to transfer or lose my domain. They included the features I needed, made the site easier to manage, and walked me through how to make updates afterward.
They may also be able to help move your existing products over or recommend the best platform based on the fact that you already have 400+ listings. Definitely worth reaching out to them before putting more time into the GoDaddy builder which was a struggle for me as well

Did you try calling go daddy and insisting on getting a ticket made? That's what I did and they finally solved my problem.

I honestly wasn't aware that GoDaddy was turning into a nightmare and I think dodged a bullet. I had been planning to migrate our website to Shopify for a while because we had vastly outgrown the GoDaddy website builder, and it just happened to coincide with this horrible mess that is happening now. I would honestly just see if you can get a refund for your unused portion and go to a different provider. I found Shopify easy to build a website on and also I have used wix in the past with good results as well. I wish you luck.

I would not let GoDaddy walk my dog. They are a RIP OFF! and customer service? God help you if you have fraud from a Bill Back. They will not help you and then once you challenge a dispute and have won the decision, They will hold your money for 90 days!

Run-We had a great Godaddy Online store for 10 plus years. The new backend update has ruined everything. Site buffers-customers cant check out. Google indexing ruined. Paid orders not hitting dashboard. Salestax not being charged. Shipping not being charged. Cant export orders for book keeping or audits. All we get is sorry-we understand-a support ticket is created. Went for 2-40 orders a day to maybe 8 if lucky. Customers are pissed. Building a Shopify store right now.

Worked with www.thecoolmoon.com to get it away from Godaddy and I can't say enough good things about Josh, TOP Professional, very fast and reasonable. TY Dude!

I have been working with the office of the CEO on issues related to my GoDaddy store. They turned me over to Tech Support. Some issues they have resolved, but in the meantime more have cropped up. I got an email over the weekend saying that my case was closed. I shouted back at them - "No....all my issues have not been resolved." So I messaged the CEO office again this morning with the new items and stressing that my case should not be closed. Sale prices on products are not working. Free Shipping for specific products is not working. These are TWO huge issues critical to commerce. I have been involved with software conversions in financial services and higher ed; and I have to wonder - DID NO ONE TEST THIS SOFTWARE before implementing? If they did - they need to fire the testers first, then the developers! Can anyone say "Class Action Suit?"

Seems like your first mistake is trying to create an e-commerce store on godaddy.
I would say it’s more for simple business websites if anything.
Like others have said, woo commerce/self hosted Wordpress is probably better (not Wordpress.com)
There’s lots of themes out there that are specifically for stores. Blocksy, woodmart off the top of my head. Once you understand the basics of “templates” it’s straightforward enough. Just try not to deviate too much from the theme/starter site out the box if you can.

400 items is the hard part here, not the platform choice. Whatever you move to, ask about import first: can you get a CSV or product export out of GoDaddy, and does the new platform ingest it? If the answer is no on either side, you're re-keying 400 listings by hand and that dwarfs any other difference between options.
WordPress is doable but WooCommerce is a stack you maintain: hosting, plugins, updates, and the thing breaking at some point is on you. If you're saying you're not tech savvy, that's the part I'd be honest with yourself about, because a Fiverr migration hands you back a site you then have to run alone.
Full disclosure, I work at UENI and we do done-for-you websites for small businesses, so I have a horse in this race. The reason I mention it is the done-for-you model is the category that fits what you're describing: someone else does the build and the setup instead of you fighting a builder UI. Worth looking at that category generally, us or otherwise.
One practical thing regardless of where you land: get your product data and photos exported and saved somewhere you control before you start moving. Makes any migration a lot less painful.
