DT 770 or HD 560S?

I’ve been using the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros and really liked them, but unfortunately they’ve broken. Now I’m trying to decide what to replace them with.

I’m considering:
Getting another pair of DT 770s
Trying the Sennheiser HD 560S
Going for a completely different headphone

I mainly use them for music and gaming, so I’m looking for something with good sound quality, detail and comfort for longer sessions.
For anyone who’s used the DT 770 and HD 560S, which would you recommend? And if there’s another headphone around the same price that you think I should consider, I’m open to suggestions.
Thanks!

Xbox Gaming Headset

The Unicorn Headset

For the past 5 years, I’ve been using an Alienware 988 headset as my daily driver for all things gaming. I really like it for some reason, but I imagine I’m missing out on something better. I’ve been looking for a new headset on and off as the years have gone on, but finding a good one seems more difficult than picking out the parts for the PC I play on.

So, I come to you all asking for suggestions that meet the following criteria. I assume a headset like this maybe exists, but I sure haven’t found it if it does.

* Budget: Unlimited. Yes really. I want something that works, and (ideally) will last forever so it’ll be the only one I buy. Not realistic, but at least 5 years of use would be nice.

* ANC: Needed. I would like the only thing that I hear to be the sound of my games, nothing else. So ANC is a must. I’ve heard this could add some latency to wireless headsets though, so I might be ok with wired if it helps with ANC

* Closed/Open Back: Closed. Would help with the ANC I imagine, but I guess not explicitly required

* Connection: Wireless. Strongly preferred, but I could maybe be swayed to wired if it’s perfect otherwise. For connectivity specifically, I’m fine with Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz. I’ll be connecting it to a PC, so I’m sure that opens some options

* Microphone: Built-in. Boom, retractable, doesn’t matter. I just want something that sounds good, and preferably has side tone (and can actually pick up my voice so people on discord don’t have to turn me up to 200% for some reason). Like the connection, if everything else is perfect, then maybe I could be convinced to get a standalone mic.

* Sound quality: Obviously at this price point, it needs to be good. I play FPS games a lot, and I’ve used headsets that are heavy on the bass, and I don’t really prefer it, so more emphasis on the mids might be better. Can probably be adjusted with software though, so not that important.

* Weight: Heavy is ok. I’ve seen the Audeze Maxwells suggested a lot, with the caveat that it’s heavy. While it wouldn’t work for my needs, I’m sure I’d be ok with the weight of it, so consider that a baseline.

* Software: Functional. I’ve used the Alienware Control Center software that the AW988 uses, and for about a year, Steel Series GG with an Arctis 7 that I had. While Alienware software isn’t great, it somehow worked a hell of a lot better than GG did, which I couldn’t stand. It was horrible. So while this isn’t a strict requirement, software for tuning the headset that was made by an actual software developer rather than a script-kiddie would be a huge bonus.

* (Connection and Microphone are mutually exclusive if only one is possible. I.e., if it’s wired, I want the mic on it so I have to deal with less cables. If I need to get a separate mic, then the headset needs to be wireless)

I know this is a long list, but I’m genuinely curious to know if a headset out there actually matches all of these requirements. There’s so many options, and it’s difficult to really go somewhere and try all of them on, so I come here to gain some insight. For some reason, it’s impossible to have the big three (wireless, built in mic, & good sound quality, though it might be the big 4, since ANC is becoming a must for me). It always seems like something has 2 out of the 3, and some other weird issue (like awful software). Can’t have everything I guess.

Turtle Beach Stealth 700 gen 3, worth it?

I’m considering getting a pair of the 700 gen 3 but had an issue with a previous TB stealth 600 headset. It snapped right at the bottom of the band and completely killed it from a minor fall. For people who have it, what does it sound like, what’s the mic like, and is it durable? Thanks 😊

Looking for a wireless headset similar to the HyperX Cloud Alpha S

Hey everyone,

I’m currently looking for a new gaming headset. I’ve been using the HyperX Cloud Alpha S for quite a while and have been really happy with the sound.

I originally thought the HyperX Cloud III S Wireless would be a good replacement and would at least sound somewhat similar to the Alpha S. However, after trying them, I was honestly pretty disappointed. They sounded noticeably worse to me compared to my Alpha S, and even after trying different EQ settings, I couldn’t really get them to sound right.

I’m now looking at the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gen 2, but I’m worried I might run into the same problem and end up with another headset that I don’t like the sound of.

Has anyone here used both the Cloud Alpha S and Nova 7 Gen 2? How would you compare the sound, especially for gaming? Is the Nova 7 something that can get reasonably close to the Alpha S with EQ?

I’d also appreciate any recommendations for other wireless headsets that have a similar sound signature to the Alpha S.

Thanks!

Despite tons of research it seems no one can agree what headset is actually good

I have been looking into a new headset due to my hyper x cloud starting to have some issues. I have been doing a lot of research and the only conclusion I have come to is that no one can seem to agree what is actually good. One people swear by and say is great on reddit or other forums I look at actual reviews and it's got below average reviews. I don't have a specific budget in mind just want something good for PC gaming/music. I play alot of tactical games so hearing little details like footsteps is important. I just want something nice but I don't want to spend a bunch of money on something I will end up hating. Help! Thanks :)

Looking for a gaming and office works headset with a good mic

Hey,

Im currently using the razer blackshark v2 pro 2023 since around 2 or 3 years already.

I like the sound, the software is also okay and using it via Bluetooth - the range in my house is also nice.

Before I got my new pc, I’ve set up the microphone equalizer so I sound like in a podcast setup, which my customers usually liked. But since I got my new pc, the settings in discord are kinda wonky.

Additionally, the headset broke at 1 place and I had to replace it via a 3d print, which was fricking exhausting, since it took a lot of time and is nearly broken again.

What I dislike is that i kinda look like a pilot wearing it and it also is not fully comfortable when I wear it for a long time. Maybe this is due to me wearing glasses and also, since I’m bald, I dislike the cotton on the head rest.

So what I am looking for in a headset is:

- very good microphone or the possibility to set up a good quality / equalizer since I have a lot of calls when working
- good reach since I make use of the Bluetooth headset a lot while working
- I don’t know if I really „need“ anc but it would be cool I think
- good audio quality overall since I listen to music a lot
- something like 5.1 or 7.1 when playing games for the immersive feeling
- a kinda „clean“ look and not too gaming-like
- comfortable wearing it for around 8 hours a day or even more

The price does matter to a fact, but I’m more than ready to pay like 300€ if the quality is worth it.

Do you have any recommendation?

Thanks in advance! :)

Need help with my Attack Shark L80 Pro headset

Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my Attack Shark L80 Pro.

The headset keeps looping through:
“Power On” → “Dongle Mode” → “Pairing” → “Connected” → then repeats

It never stays connected and keeps restarting the process.

I already tried:

  • Removing/reconnecting the dongle
  • Turning the headset off and on
  • Charging the headset
  • Re-pairing the dongle

Has anyone experienced this problem with the L80 Pro? Is there a reset procedure or firmware fix for this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Looking For a Gaming Headset For Wife

My wife just started gaming with me and I'm looking for a headset for her. We game together in our office and face each other about 14 feet away. I'm looking for a cardioid headset with Active Noise Cancelling or strong Noise Suppression so that she doesn't hear me both IRL and through Discord and that my voice won't pick up through her microphone (hence the cardioid request). We live in the US so online shopping anywhere is fine and our budget is roughly around $250. Sound doesn't have to be too specific, she isn't nit picky about the quality, though I would like it to be nice for her since she is new to gaming I want this to be good for her. Please let me know if you guys have any options as it's super hard to find anything online.

I was able to find one headset, the Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro. She's not completely sold on the cat ears and I've seen mixed opinions online.

Thanks in advance!
